Want an excerpt for Blue Cruise? Here you go!

Adem climbed up from the hull of the boat. It was hard not to take over the kitchen. But the the current chef and captain kept pushing him out, gently reminding him that he was the client now, that this was a 1Night Stand event, and he needed to go meet his date. He laughed and took the steps two at a time. Determined to enjoy it, not to feel guilty about buying himself the good time he deserved, Adem looked up and saw the American Adonis that haunted his dreams. Ray Bans covered his eyes, and he appeared utterly dejected by the sight of the boat.
Weak kneed was a new sensation to him, but Adem gripped the ropes along the stairwell from the galley and tried not to gape. He cleared his throat and stepped out onto the hot asphalt, the four steps he needed to reach his dream date the longest he’d ever taken. Sweat trickled between his shoulder blades, but he squared his shoulders and smiled. The sad, beautiful smile that greeted him in return rolled over his heart like a wave.
“Hello, um, English okay?” The tall man held out a large hand. Adem noticed the distinct lack of the ring he’d watched him accept from the Turkish man on this very boat. Was it two or three years ago?
“Yes, it’s fine,” Adem croaked. “I can speak English, Turkish or French, if you prefer.”
“Oh, I’ll stick to English, thanks.”
The man’s soft blue dress shirt fit his torso like a glove. His jeans were worn, nice and tight, cupping his ass perfectly. Adem gulped. The memory of that cock he’d watched and dreamed about, encased in the denim within his reach, nearly overpowered him.
“Good, good,” Adem ran a hand through his long hair. Damn, I should have gotten it cut. This man probably preferred his dates a bit less…shaggy. “So, we can board if you like.” He gestured toward the boat, unsure what else to say.
The blond god spoke. “I’m Caleb, by the way. Caleb Blessing.”
Adem blushed. “Oh, sorry. Let’s start over.” He turned and stuck out his hand again. “I’m Adem. Adem Broussard.”
He watched as Caleb clenched his jaw.
“I know. I remember you.”
“Oh, well, then….” Adem didn’t understand the emotions flitting over the tall man’s face. When Caleb pulled his sunglasses off and rubbed his eyes, Adem would swear his fingers came away wet. He resisted the extreme urge to pull him into an embrace. Putting his hands in his pockets instead, he stood, letting the silence swirl around them.
“Well, let’s go, shall we?” the gorgeous, obviously unhappy man snapped, as he stomped toward the boat.
Adem’s gut clenched. This was not turning out like he’d hoped. Not at all.

Here's one from Turkish Delights:
“I miss you already,” Emre said, with his usual candor. “I can’t believe I just met you and now we must part.” He finished his tea and signaled the waiter for another. Before she could lean back, he reached over the tiny table and captured her hand, putting it to his mouth. Elle’s entire body zinged. His lips were gentle, soft but with a firmness that spoke of his potential talents with them. Exactly as she thought they would be, even if only pressed to her hand. She bit her lip, no longer caring what the gawkers around them thought, as she pressed her thighs together to ease the ache building between them.
“I know.” Her voice was a whisper. “It’s been…nice getting to know you.” Lame, her brain screamed. Just kiss him, for crying out loud. You are the newly-named CEO of a major pharmaceutical company. You eat fear for breakfast. What the hell is your problem?
She stood, pulling up her bag. Emre remained seated, staring at her.
“I’m not what you think,” he said, as he stretched long legs out in front of him.
Her face flushed with anger. Good. Now I’m on familiar ground. Mad at a man for assuming things about what I think.
“Just what do I think, if you don’t mind sharing.” She used her coolest-cucumber voice, and it pleased her to see the young man frown. Anger she could cope with. Besotted was beyond her, especially since she felt the same damn way about this boy nearly fifteen years her junior.
“Never mind.” He stood, towering over her even as she stood in her highest heels. “Let’s not fight. It’s our last day together, no?”
The urge to run a finger down his strong, stubbled jaw was intense. She clenched her hands together so hard they hurt. He put a familiar arm around her shoulder, nearly bringing her to her knees with lust. The smell of his subtle cologne, mixed with the exotic manliness she’d come to associate with him in his element at his grandfather’s spice booth nearly sent her over the edge. She shut her eyes, leaning into his strong torso ever so slightly. Was it her imagination, or did he flinch? She drew away, ashamed at herself.
“I should get back,” Gesturing in the general vicinity of where her car and driver waited, she gasped when Emre held her close then dropped to one knee right onto the cobblestones. Embarrassment and excitement fought for her brain. He took her hand, kissed it, held it to his heart.
“You are the most amazing woman in the universe. It has been my honor to know you. I wish….” He blinked, and she used the opportunity to pull her hand away. “I just wish we’d known each other sooner.”
It was Elle’s turn to blink. Realization rushed through her, heating her face. He knows damn good and well I’m a dried up specimen, too focused on my career to find and keep a man or sustain any relationship beyond the office. Fists clenched at her sides, she tried to calm her breathing.
You are a fool, Ellery Kensington. He knows you’re a horny old lady. And he might oblige you between the sheets, but get the foolish romantic bullshit about spiriting him back to the States with you out of your head. That’s patent nonsense and you should know better.
Finished with her self-lecture, she squared her shoulders and leaned in to press her lips to his jaw. Closing her eyes against the chemical reaction she had to him, she stepped away quickly.

Jana Richards' Girl Most Likely is Here Today!

Jana Richards is right here! She's talking about her book, The Girl Most Likely! You should make sure to comment. Why? Jana is giving away one $20 GC to The Wild Rose Press to one randomly drawn commenter AND a $20 Amazon GC to one randomly drawn commenter during the tour!

So let's get down to the nitty gritty!! What was your favorite scene to write in “The Girl Most Likely”?

It was probably the opening scene when Cara first meets Finn. Cara works at a TV station for a live local events show and Finn is one of the guests. As a physical trainer, he’s there to talk about fitness and health. Cara is recruited as a “volunteer” to demonstrate what clients to Finn’s gym might expect when they visit him. She’s asked embarrassing questions about her eating habits, has the fat around her waist measured, and nearly collapses as she tries to do jumping jacks. Cara is totally mortified. She’s one step away from the ultimate humiliation of being weighed on live TV when Finn rescues her. I made poor Cara suffer, but it was great fun to write!

What was the inspiration behind “The Girl Most Likely”?
The Girl Most Likely is part of the Class of ’85 series from The Wild Rose Press. All the stories in the series revolve around the graduates of Summerville High School as they prepare for their 25th year high school reunion. I wanted to write a story for the series that was just a little different by putting together a younger hero and an older heroine, while still tapping into the insecurities of attending a reunion. In my book, Cara feels overweight and unattractive and wants to lose weight before the reunion. When faced with such an occasion, I’m willing to bet that a lot of people, both male and female, try to lose a few pounds. Nobody wants to go to their reunion feeling unattractive.

What is the most interesting thing you’ve done in the name of research?
Unfortunately, I can’t claim to have scaled the Andes or participated in a police ride-along as part of my research. Mostly my research consists of looking up facts, usually on the Internet, or immersing myself in a time period by reading as many books as I can get my hands on, especially for my World War Two books. Those things, combined with interviewing people who may have knowledge I need for my stories, makes up most of my research. Research is fascinating, but also hard work.

What do you consider as the most frustrating side of becoming a published author and what has been the most rewarding?
The most frustrating side of being a published author is getting readers to know you exist! A friend of mine once said that promotion is like trying to convince someone in another universe to notice you. It’s very hard to do. I like to think that I have a very good product and that if I can just get someone to read one of my books once, they’ll come back for more.

The most rewarding part about being a published writer is when a reader, reviewer, or editor tells me they love my book. That makes all the work worthwhile.

What accent inspires you to do naughty things?
Hmmm, good question. I guess I’m a sucker for a really posh English accent. He could read the telephone book and still sound sexy!

Name something readers would be surprised to learn about you?
That I grew up on a farm on the Canadian prairies, and that although I live in a city now, I’m still a small town girl at heart.

If you could ask the readers one question what would it be?
What type of story is a must read for you?

What’s your writing process like?
Very messy! I usually write in big chunks of time. I’ll take a several days off from my day job and then write like crazy to get the first draft done. Then I’ll rip it all apart in the editing process, and put it back together. But it’s all good because it’s not till the editing process that I feel I really know my characters and their story.

What can readers expect next from you?
My novella “Home Fires” has just been contracted with The Wild Rose Press. British nurse Anne Wakefield travels to Canada in 1945 to marry her fiancé, a Canadian soldier she met during the war. But when she arrives, she finds that her fiancé has already married someone else. Devastated, Anne tries to pick up the pieces of her life. The kindness of her ex-fiancé’s brother Eric helps to heal her pain. She must decide whether to return to England, or to take a second chance on love – this time with Eric. But can he forget that Anne loved his brother first?

What is the best thing about being a writer? The worst?
The best thing about being a writer is living in my imagination and getting to create worlds and people out of thin air. The worst thing is finding time to write. Something is always competing for my time, whether it’s the day job, domestic duties or promotion. Sometimes I want to chuck it all and just write!

What is your method of breaking through writer’s block?
If one project is giving me trouble, I’ll leave it for a while and work on something else. Maybe I’ll write something short, like an article or a blog post. Or if I need to clear my head, maybe I’ll do something completely different like walk the dog, cook, or clean the house. I find that while I’m doing something else, my mind keeps working on my original problem and often finds a solution.

What fuels you as an author to continue to write?
Readers telling me they enjoyed my book. That, and wanting my next book to be better than the last. I want to continue to grow as a writer.

Can you tell us a bit about what book(s) you have coming out next and what you’re working on now?
The Girl Most Likely” is releasing November 30, 2011 from The Wild Rose Press. Cara McLeod, the girl most likely to have the perfect marriage, is now divorced and, in her own words, “fat, frumpy, and over forty.” The thought of facing former classmates—and the ex-husband who dumped her—at her high school reunion terrifies her. Cajoled into attending by her kids and her best friend, Cara enlists help at the gym to lose weight and look great for the reunion. Personal Trainer Finn Cooper is more than willing to help—but does he have to be so to-die-for gorgeous?

Finn thinks Cara is perfect just the way she is. She’s everything he wants in a woman, except for one thing—she can’t get past the fact that he's eight years younger. To Finn, age and weight are just numbers. But can he convince Cara the numbers she worries about add up to only one thing for him—love?

Like I said earlier, I’ve just been contracted with “Home Fires”, a World War Two era story about finding love after loss. I’m working on edits for that right now. In the wings, the series that I call “Left at the Altar” is patiently waiting to be completed. Each book in the series begins with someone getting left at the altar. The first book in the series is “Her Best Man” and is published with Uncial Press. Now I have to get busy and finish the other two stories, “There Goes the Groom” and “Always a Bridesmaid”.

When you get a chance to read, what books do you love to read?
I love romantic suspense and Suzanne Brockman is one of my favorites. For contemporaries I enjoy Nora Roberts, and a couple of my favorite historical authors are Mary Balogh and Jo Beverley. I also read a lot of authors from the same publishing houses as me, such as other authors in the Class of ’85 series. There’s a lot of fun reads there!

What bores you as a reader?
Sloppy or lazy writing and poor editing.

What is your favorite feature on a person?
Kindness and generosity of spirit.

What is your favorite time of day?
Early morning, when everyone else is still sleeping. I can make myself a cup of coffee and sit down uninterrupted at my computer to write.

What music gets you dancing?
Anything Latin, like salsa, rumba, or cha-cha. It’s not like I actually know how to do any of those dances but I can at least do some chair dancing!

Aliens have landed on the planet. What are the three things you would tell them that are great about this planet?
Seeing the northern lights dance across the night sky, watching a sunset on the prairies, and chocolate.

You have been locked in a mall and told you can get anything you want and when they open in the morning you won’t have to pay a single cent. What stores would you hit? Better question how would you haul away all your loot?
I’d likely hit a bookstore, an office supply store and an electronics store. The bookstore is an obvious choice; I’d grab as many romance novels as I could carry out of there. And I love office supply stores and all their pretty papers and pens and clips. I’m pretty nerdy! I’d go crazy in the electronics store. I’d get myself the newest ereader, a really nice camera so I could take good pictures for my blog, and an IPhone. I just think they’re so cool.

How am I going to haul this stuff away? I’m going to bring a golf cart with a little wagon hooked on the back. I’ll drive it through the mall and then all the way home!

If you could share one major writing tip, to help other writers in their quest for publication, what would it be?
Never stop learning your craft. Keep taking classes, going to conferences, and reading other writers you admire. Never settle for good enough. Always try to better yourself.

If you could write in any other genre what would it be, and why?
I’d like to write a Historical (set before 1900) or a Regency. They are both so much fun to read.

Want a piping hot excerpt? Here you go!

He chuckled. “Jessica better watch her back. You could give her a run for her money.”

He heard Cara’s throaty laugh, and various parts of his anatomy tingled in response. “Yes, that’s my evil plan. Take over Rochester Noon, then the world.”

“If you set your mind to it, I’m sure you could do it.”

“Thanks Finn.”

“For what?”

“For believing in me.”

“Are you going to be okay now?”

“Yes, I’m fine. Thanks to you.”

He wanted so badly to tell her he loved her, adored her, thought she was the most amazing woman in the world. But fear stopped him. Was she truly over her ex-husband? Why else would losing weight for the reunion be so important to her if not to impress Peter?

“I’ve got to run. Thanks again. I’ll talk to you later at my condo, right?”

“Absolutely. I can hardly wait to hear about your big TV debut. Break a leg. Isn’t that what they say in show biz?”

She laughed. “Yeah, that’s what they say. Bye.”

Finn replaced the receiver and closed his eyes. He hoped everything went well with this interview. Cara deserved to realize how amazing she was.

If she did come to that realization, would there still be room in her life for him?

Black Friday!!!

I dunno about you, but I'm not a huge Black Friday shopper. Probably because I'm not good with crowds. I don't mind orderly lines and such - well, I don't mind them, but I don't really want to be in them. What I cannot handle is chaotic crowds. Concerts make me twitch. I'm not a princess by any means, but I cannot handle being jostled. I can't deal with having elbows dug into my sides or being packed in somewhere. It's probably claustrophobia or something, but sorry, can't do it.

I tried Black Friday shopping before I had kids. It wasn't so bad, but still not my favorite thing. I guess there's not that much I really want that bad that I'll stand in line or wait in a mob for. I'm oddly perfectly content to wait a few months to buy the tablet or iPod I really want if it means I can take my time, look it over and really think about it. And after having a kid, there's too much I don't want squashed. Like the tot and the stuff that must be lugged around for the tot - diaper bags, the toy that HAD to come along, sippy cup, or whatever was too important not to stay in the car.

Then again, I don't really have a long Christmas list this year either. The family wanted things that are more utilitarian. Yeah, I know. It's so hard to buy socks in a mob. Or get undershirts...stuff like that. The child wants paper, markers, and things to make comic books. Hey, can't knock a kid for wanting to create art. Shrugs. Maybe that's what makes me quirky or odd. I'm good with what I got and not really wanting anything for Christmas.

What about you? Are you out shopping? Reading blogs and tripping the blog fantastic? Writing? I'd like to be doing that right now. Sigh. The words are there, just not ready to make their way onto the page. Oh well. What are your thoughts on Black Friday? Let me know. :-)

Rebecca Royce's Love Beyond Sanity

Rebecca Royce stops by right here, tomorrow with her book, Love Beyond Sanity. You totally want to come back and comment. Why? She's giving away a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate to one randomly drawn commenter during the tour. I'm all over that.
Where can you go to follow her tour? Click the banner above or right here.

But let's get started with the interview!

What was your favorite scene to write in Love Beyond Sanity?
All of the scenes between Charma and Jason were outstandingly fun to write. But, having said that, there is a scene that takes place between two characters who are meant to be together but don’t know it yet that was really incredible to create. It still stays with me as one of my favorite moments.

What was the inspiration behind Love Beyond Sanity?
I’m not really sure. Unfortunately, I never know where my ideas come from.
What is the most interesting thing you’ve done in the name of research?
I went to the Mote Museum in Sarasota, Florida and looked at a Giant Squid that is encased there. That was really fun!

What do you consider as the most frustrating side of becoming a published author and what has been the most rewarding?
The most frustrating part is the time I spend away from writing having to do other things. I really wish I could write all the time when I am not with my kids. The most wonderful part is hearing from readers that they enjoyed the book!

What accent inspires you to do naughty things?
He-He. My husband is Southern so I will start with that but then I will also say British. He-He.

Name something readers would be surprised to learn about you?
Readers know an awful lot about me now but something that would still surprise them? I’m five foot ten inches tall.

If you could ask the readers one question what would it be?
What paranormal creature would you like to see more of?

What’s your writing process like?
I open up a blank document, double space it, and write the chapter heading. Then I write that chapter until I have reached 13 pages. In my first draft, all my chapters are 13 pages.

What can readers expect next from you?
Right now, I am writing the next Westervelt Wolves book. But I think that I should have several releases upcoming before that one is finished. Probably another Outsider book.

What is the best thing about being a writer? The worst?
The best thing about being a writer is getting to share the stories that inside of my head with all of you. That is such a gift. I think most writers would complain about copy edits and promotion but they are ‘high-brow’ problems, if you will. We’re not really complaining. We don’t like them but they are issues we are happy to have.

What is your method of breaking through writer’s block?
I write something else. If I cannot make headway with what I am doing than I close the chapter and write another story. I have several published books that came out of that method.

What fuels you as an author to continue to write?
I can’t seem to stop. For me, it’s a compulsion.

Can you tell us a bit about what book(s) you have coming out next and what you’re working on now?
Right now, I am writing the next Westervelt Wolves book. It is Rex’s story. And I expect to have another Outsider book release as well as another Conditioned book. I have so many series going on all at once right now that they are almost exclusively what I am writing.

When you get a chance to read, what books do you love to read?
I do love to read and right now I am drawn to Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy Books, and Contemporary Suspense Romances.

What bores you as a reader?
Nothing really bores me as a reader.

What is your favorite feature on a person?
Their eyes….sigh.

What is your favorite time of day?
At night, after the kids have gone to bed, when I can lay around with my husband.

What music gets you dancing?
Pop music.

Aliens have landed on the planet. What are the three things you would tell them that are great about this planet?
1. Italian Food
2. French Red Wine
3. The View Of The Sun Setting Over The Ocean

You have been locked in a mall and told you can get anything you want and when they open in the morning you won’t have to pay a single cent. What stores would you hit? Better question how would you haul away all your loot?
I have a mini-van. We would get the job done getting the stuff out. The truth? I would hit up Barnes and Noble, the Purse Department of the Department Store, and the gaming section of the electronics store. I am just not that into clothes…

If you could share one major writing tip, to help other writers in their quest for publication, what would it be?
Write every day. If you want this to be your job, treat it like a job. People go to their jobs every day.

If you could write in any other genre what would it be, and why?
I would love to write Historicals. But I cannot take the research. I’m always afraid I would get something completely wrong.

Where can we find out more about you and your work?
www.rebeccaroyce.com
www.rebeccaroyce.blogspot.com

And finally, have you got a sneak peek excerpt from your current work in progress you can share with my readers and me? The hotter the better!
From my current Work In Progress? Well, hmm, I haven’t written the hot stuff yet in that book but I’ll give you a taste of what I do have.

The smell of human overindulgence wafted through his nose, making him want to turn on his heel and go out the way he’d gone in.
Rex Kane observed the scene before him with a strange amount of detachment, considering he was currently seeing his mate for the very first time. Two women—no, witches, he corrected—lay in strangely positioned forms frozen on the floor. Twins, he would guess them to be. Possibly even identical. He sniffed the air. Yep, they had matching scents. They were the very rare, but absolutely possible oddity, of identical twins. He would never be able to tell them apart, not by smell anyway.

Here's the blurb for Love Beyond Sanity:

Eighteen years earlier, Charma lost her destined soul mate. Convinced he must be dead, she kept her fears to herself so as not to destroy the morale of the Outsiders who already live with a shaky prophecy as their only guide.

Dr. Jason Randall is a man used to getting what he wants. There has never been a problem he couldn't out think or a situation he wasn't capable of handling.

Now they are both hunted by not one but two demons as they lead the slowly forming group of Outsiders out of the darkness and back into the light. The two strong souls will have to decide if prophecy alone is enough reason to stay together through insane odds...or if love is their true fate.

And an Excerpt:

"Oh, Dr. Randall, you are so limited. The Fates, Destiny, the Gods chose you, however it is that you are comfortable describing it. Veli Destrand, before he died, used to call it 'the good side'. He was pretty accurate in that." She laughed. "Such a shame he's dead and you won't get to meet him until I send you to death. But in the mean time you're so exciting to play with."
He didn't see it coming. The electrical current struck his body with what he could only imagine was the force of an eighteen-wheeler. His entire being shook from the experience. His insides burned as if he were a mere piece of toast. Without surprise, he fell to the hard ground.
Breathe. It was nearly impossible to perform that basic function. Eventually, it would pass. He knew this because he'd been going through this experience at least once a day since he'd been stuck in his own mind's creation, but each time she electrocuted him, it seemed to get worse.

Now you want to know about Rebecca Royce. Here you go!
As a teenager, Rebecca Royce would hide in her room to read her favorite romance novels when she was supposed to be doing her homework. She hopes, these days, that her parents think it was well worth it.

Rebecca is the mother of three adorable boys and is fortunate to be married to her best friend. They live in northern New Jersey and try not to freeze too badly during the winter months.

She's in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and tries to use all of these elements in her writing. She's been told she's a little bloodthirsty so she hopes that when you read her work you'll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. Rebecca loves to write series because she loves to see characters develop over time and it always makes her happy to see her favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.

In Rebecca Royce's world anything is possible, anything can happen, and you should suspect that it will.

Rebecca Royce stops by Tomorrow!

Rebecca Royce stops by right here, tomorrow with her book, Love Beyond Sanity. You totally want to come back and comment. Why? She's giving away a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate to one randomly drawn commenter during the tour. I'm all over that.

Excerpt:

Monday Moans! The End of the Race Season

It's the end of the season. The end of an era. The turning of the page. The championship has been won and the celebration started. What am I talking about?

Race season is over.

The teams have packed up the car for the final time, unless the driver is in the Chase. Then they get to go to Las Vegas. The rest? Well, it's time to head home and figure out what to do for next year.

It's the end of an era. My driver is going to another stable. Clint Bowyer, my Cheerio driver of the 33 RCR Chevy will be driving a Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing. I'll cheer the man, but it breaks my heart. At least he didn't Rusty Wallace on me and retire.

The turning of the page. I'm a super NASCAR fan. But it will be tough not to see the 33 on the track. Kevin Harvick Inc is no longer and Ron Hornaday won't be with KHI. Sigh.

But I can say my truck series driver won the championship, so that's fantastic. Austin Dillon, you're aces in my book and I'm looking forward to cheering for you in the Nationwide series.

So even thought there's not much race-wise going on for me, I'm looking forward to Daytona. 2012 can't come fast enough.

Liia Ann White's Elora's Match

I'd like to welcome author Liia Ann White and her book, Elora's Match. The book is an urban fantasy / paranormal romance released by Silver Publishing. You'll want to comment and comment often. Why?
Liia will be giving away a $25 Amazon GC to one randomly drawn commenter during the tour. I'm commenting! But let's get the interview started!

What was your favorite scene to write in Elora’s Match?

While sex scenes are always fun to write, my favourite scene to write has to be the final fight scene. Elora and Kadin fight with demons, vampires, hellhounds and all sorts of supernatural creatures. I’m a big fan of violence, blood and gore, so it’s a lot of fun for me to put my own spin on fight scenes. For that scene; the words seemed to type themselves, I just let my imagination run wild and my Muse do what she wanted.

What was the inspiration behind Elora’s Match?

I had a series of dreams and nightmares involving Elora. She was such a harsh, closed off being I just needed to write her story. The ‘Different’ beings are ones I’d had running around my mind since I was a teen and Elora just fit the race perfectly.

What is the most interesting thing you’ve done in the name of research?

I’m probably the most boring writer ever. Most of my ideas are not based on reality at all, however there’s a scene in the sequel to this (entitled Elora’s Choice) there’s a scene that takes place in Downtown Los Angeles. They’re chasing a rogue vampire who happens to have been seen in the Ritz Carlton Downtown LA Hotel.

So on my trip to the States in June this year, I stayed there. I got to know the hotel (and adjoining one), the immediate area and streets. While it might not technically be research, it sure was a LOT of fun staying there! They have the best bathrooms ever!

What do you consider as the most frustrating side of becoming a published author and what has been the most rewarding?

The most rewarding, apart from seeing my name in print, is getting feedback from readers. Knowing that there aren’t only friends and family reading your work, but also complete strangers that read – and enjoy – your work is just so rewarding.

The most frustrating part is the time it takes. I’m not a patient person, so I get very antsy while waiting for the editing/publishing process to do its thing. I know it needs to be done and understand it takes a lot of time, but I’m just so eager to work and learn I want everything done now LOL

What accent inspires you to do naughty things?

For some reason I have a thing for Canadian guys. I don’t know why! There’s just something about a nice manly Canadian that just makes my inside all fuzzy.

Name something readers would be surprised to learn about you?

I started talking when I was 9 months old… And I haven’t shut up since ;-)

What’s your writing process like?

I’m what I’ve called a ‘plonster’. A bit of a pantser, bit of a plotter. I tend to have a plot in mind, do a bit of an outline, but once I start writing, the characters take things into their own hands and change the plot as they wish to.

Because of this, I try to write chapter by chapter and send them to my critique partner to get her opinion/suggestions before I continue on. But every now and then I’ll write in bits and pieces and put it together once I’ve finished the story.

What can readers expect next from you?

I’m currently working on the release to Elora’s Match, titled Elora’s Choice, as well as a bundle of erotic romances of several genres.

What I’m really excited about is a young adult series I’ve been working on for the past year or so. *One day* it’ll be published.

What is the best thing about being a writer? The worst?

The best is definitely having my work out there. Knowing that a stranger somewhere has read words I’ve written is just indescribable. And I love hearing from all of them.

The worst? The constant self doubt. Being unsure whether or not something ‘works’ and going back, revising and changing work and still not being sure, is definitely the worst part of writing.

What is your method of breaking through writer’s block?

I leave it. I’ve had a few bouts of writer’s block that have lasted months and the more I stressed about it, the worse it got. I’ve tried to force myself to write, tried relaxation techniques, but nothing seems to work. When my Muse goes walkabout – she’s just gone. All I can do is sit back and hope she returns sooner rather than later.

What fuels you as an author to continue to write?

My characters. They just won’t leave me alone. I constantly have new characters popping up and plots for them as well as existing ones. I don’t get a chance to stop writing.

Plus, I love writing.

Can you tell us a bit about what book(s) you have coming out next and what you’re working on now?

My next release is Her First White Christmas – part of Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand series.

I wrote One Hot Australian Night (released) and, as a result, they requested I write a holiday story. It’s my first holiday story, first anthology and the first time a publisher has requested I write something for them. So it makes me a bit happy LOL

When you get a chance to read, what books do you love to read?

I love reading young adult, romance and erotic romance – of any genre. But, as with movies, I’ll read just about anything. If it’s well written – I’ll read it.

What bores you as a reader?

Weak characters, especially females.

What is your favorite feature on a person?

Eyes. You can tell a lot about a person by looking at their eyes.

What is your favorite time of day?

Night. You know how people say ‘once the sun goes down, all the weirdos come out’? I’m one of those weirdos LOL I get to about 9 o’clock and am so wide awake and full of energy, it’s crazy. I’ve been that way since I was a kid.

What music gets you dancing?

80s hits always get me doing a little dance. Play Electric Avenue and I’ll be dancing away.

Aliens have landed on the planet. What are the three things you would tell them that are great about this planet?

The animals, ocean and Australia.

You have been locked in a mall and told you can get anything you want and when they open in the morning you won’t have to pay a single cent. What stores would you hit? Better question how would you haul away all your loot?

Hmmmm… That’s a tricky one! I’m not a big shopper. If I was in the US, I’d hit a Torrid store and take everything in my size – they make the best clothing! If it’s in Oz, I’d go to JB Hi-Fi and get so many video games, DVDs, electronics etc. that I’d look like a hoarder. And haul it away in a bunch of garbage bags that I grabbed from Target.

If you could share one major writing tip, to help other writers in their quest for publication, what would it be?

Always listen to advice and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

If you could write in any other genre what would it be, and why?

Horror. I love horror movies, TV shows and stories, and have that many ideas from nightmares I have that I could write a bundle of anthologies on my own. I just don’t know how to write the genre. I don’t think I have the brain for it.

Where can we find out more about you and your work?

My website http://www.liia-ann.com is updated constantly. And if you don’t mind a bit of rambling, I’m always on Twitter and Facebook.

Here's her bio:
I love all things paranormal. I spend my childhood daydreaming about
far off lands and living in my own little fantasy world. I watched shows
like ’Unsolved Mysteries’ and read books on witchcraft, fairies, demons,
ghosts and all other sorts of supernatural creatures, including mutants (I
love X-Men).

I’m a complete geek and collect Disney and Star Wars memorabilia.

When not writing, I can be found reading, playing video games or spending
times with my adorable doggies.

I’m a big animal lover and vegan. I live in Perth with my family, which
includes two adorable dogs, two birds and a handful of feisty fish.

I’m always interested in meeting new people, so drop me a line!

Here's the Blurb for Elora's March:
Elora’s parents mysteriously disappeared when she was fifteen. She vowed to find answers – discover what really happened to them. But after twenty-five years of travelling the world she has come up empty handed. Feeling tired and lonely, she settles down in the city her best friend, Caleb, calls home. To lead a regular human existence for a while; like he does.

One problem; they’re not human. They’re Different – a rare supernatural race known for their beauty, strength and supernatural abilities.

Elora is lead to a man by a series of visions. Cue Kadin; powerful, sexy and also Different. He is her match – her soul-mate. Her life has never felt so complete.

But it’s not all good news. Elora must now deal with a rogue demon Elder hell-bent on taking over Lucifer’s reign over Hell. To succeed she needs to steal Elora’s power. When she’s facing the fight of her life, can Elora really trust Kadin?

And here's an excerpt:
An almost audible buzzing erupted in the back of my mind, the same sensation I had in my visions.

Kadin.

He appeared before me, looking as physically perfect as ever. His dark hair fell over his face. The smooth outline of his jaw off set his symmetrical features. Those flawless, full lips spread into a smile, and his teal eyes bored into my own.

"Elora," he said with a smile, his velvet smooth voice caressing my skin. I felt myself drawn to him. There was an invisible connection between us, making me want to cling to him. To run my fingers through that thick hair of his, trace the contours of his broad chest, and kiss those luscious lips. Lust burned within me like never before.

I forced myself to ignore it, instead eyeing him warily. "What are you doing here?"

"That was quite a show." He chuckled lightly. "I was going to jump in, but I see you can handle yourself."

"What are you doing here?" I repeated, in no mood for games.

Clasping his hands behind his back, he took a few steps toward me. "Those two have been following me for a few weeks now." He gestured to where the pile of ash once was. "They stopped tonight, so I tracked them here where they attacked you."

"Why have they been following you?"

"I'm not sure." He pursed his lips. "I followed them tonight, thinking they were going back to their controller. Apparently, I was wrong."

"Why are you really here?"

"I just told you."

"What if I don't believe you?"

Being Sick... Stinks

I went to bed last night ready to tackle today and get some stuff accomplished. I sure did. What went wrong?

I got a cold.

I thought I had one about two weeks ago. I probably did, but I caught it fast enough that time that it wasn't really bad. In fact, it ran its course in a couple days. Worked for me. I had a vacation to enjoy. But this time the cold is a tick worse. Can you say feels like death? Yeah, I'm so there.

I'll get something done shortly, I hope.

On other news, this was funny and yet incredibly sad. The plane that had the 'hijacker' trying to get into the cockpit. I know enough about planes to know that there's no room to goof around with guns. I also know how serious the threat of hijacking is. Now it's funny to think the pilot got himself stuck in the john. Why? Cuz I think it's funny when anyone gets stuck in a potty. What's not funny is the idea that we are so scared that something bad will happen. It's not funny because it's a very real possibility. Scary.

Then again, the overseas flight that required the fliers to cough up money to refuel the plane just sucks. Sounds like the travel agent who booked the flight never bothered to give the money for the refueling that the travelers paid to the airline. Now that's stupid. Thankfully they had the cash on hand to fuel it.

Oh well. I'm off to twiddle with a pilot story I've had in the back of my head for a while.

NaNo...Not Now

Okay, so the beginning of the month, I was all ready to tackle NaNo. A friend of mine insists that NaNo actually happens every month a writer writes. We all have deadlines and things we have to get done. She's right.

And yet...

It's fun to push yourself to get to that elusive word count. Its fun to really see what you can do. So yes, every month is a goal to get to the word count.

But...

For me it's been a little bit of a challenge and not just to get the words to flow. The words are there. I've got them just fine. What's the problem then?

Life.

I'm sure everyone who does NaNo has life stomp in and stampede. It's what happens. But in my case, there was vacation. Always fun and yep, I got lots of ideas. Lots of nice eye candy to look at, too. Then there was the birthday extravaganza - well, if you call eating Dilly Bars at Dairy Queen an extravaganza and since I do. Grin. Then the dog had her issues. Ever have a dog with a cyst? It happens a lot I'm told, but this one got icky. We're talking doubled in size, turned colors and burst. Yeah, gross. So I had to help with that. Now factor in a child in school, a DH with crazy work hours and yeah, I work myself in addition to writing.

What does all that add up to?

Writing whenever I can find the stray moment and having to take the laptop into the potty for privacy. No my family doesn't read over my shoulder, but sometimes you just need a moment with your thoughts.

How much have I honestly gotten done? About 20k. It's not much and well, it's really two shorts (maybe it's four [there were two really short shorts in there] I'm not sure) that I have compiled.

Ya think I'll make it by the end of the month to the full 50k of words? Here's to trying even when I'm sure something else (Murphy's Law resides at my house) will crop up and scream for my attention.

Do you ever have this problem? Coping suggestions? I'm all ears.

Reading, Writing and Owning an RV

I wasn't sure what to write about today and a very good friend of mine told me over promotion--taking about promo and your books ad nauseum - was just that. Overkill. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized that there's lots of things I want to talk about on my blog and lots of things I think are relevant. Are they to everyone? Probably not.

So what about the post title today? Yes, I read. A lot. I write. Not as much as I'd like to, but life happens. And yes, I (well, DH) own an RV. It's not a huge thing. Not even super fancy. It's not brand new, but it's in good shape, clean and well, does the job. Now back to that title.

I found out something very important when it comes to owning an RV and being an author. The idea of taking your work with you can be very appealing. I mean, think about it. You get the views around you, especially when you're in the front seat. You get the cushiness of sitting in a regular seat, not a car seat or a van seat. There's lots of padding in those camper seats, no small wonder why, just sayin'. Then there's the option of sitting on the couch. Unreal. Sitting on a couch, riding down the road. And if you're wondering, I'm laughed at by most of the family for the way I drive (hey, it gets me there and I've never--knock wood--had an accident since I put the Anne Geddes leopard baby in my vehicles), so no. I don't drive the RV.

I can read the ereader or write in my various notebooks while sitting in the front seat. I get stuff done and see where I'm going. I have a great time.

Now I've gone on more than a few trips in said vehicle. I did a add/revision on the way to a racetrack not too long ago and it worked out great. That being said, there's one small issue with riding in the RV in the winter. Summer there's the air conditioner and man, that thing works! But in the winter, there's the heater. I'm apparently now one of those people who needs cool air around me and to cuddle under a blanket. Stuff air? Sorry. You're asking for it. I probably should've taken some Dramamine, but since I was coming down with a cold, I thought mixing meds wasn't a great idea. Now here's where the fun came in. I wanted to work on a short story and thought, hey, there's no one bothering me. I'm riding along nicely. I'll work on it.

WRONG.

Between the too warm air, the fact I couldn't see the mountains (it was 7 pm), and I was sitting on the couch (the extra forward facing seat was filled with a 63 lb dog who believes she is a queen). Can you say sick as a dog? That was me.

So needless to say, on that trip I learned never ever to write in the dark, on a moving RV in the mountains.

But I still enjoy riding/using the RV. Having a potty on board is one of the best inventions EVER. (Yeah, my youngling is the one who asks to go to the restroom two miles AFTER we pass the rest stop. Why do you ask?)

The Cover Faery Dropped By!

The book doesn't come out til January, but yeah, I'm soooo loving this cover. Thanks Emmy!

Flirty Friday!

I don't have a whole lot going on right now. I'm attempting to do NaNo but it's seeming to be dying a lingering death. Not than I'm honestly shocked. Oh well. Was a nice thought. Okay, so Megan has a new release today. Her book, Under and Over It releases tomorrow from Changeling. Want to know more? Here's the cover and blurb. And yeah, I like the cover a lot.

Regan Finley's photography makes the local music scene shine. He's four months from his final exhibition and graduation. But instead of preparing for the party, he's fretting about his exhibition theme -- bondage and passion. There's one person he wants to make his exhibition come to life, if he can convince his housemate to participate.

Camryn Tate plays the music that makes the young girls scream. He likes being a local rock hero. When he finds out what Regan wants for the exhibition, Cam has to make a decision. He can let Regan have his commanding way and get the pictures he needs for the exhibition, or he can walk away from the best roommate and friend he's ever known... all because of a little ball of nylon rope.

You should get a copy. I recommend it. Hopefully I get the vampire story and the others I have simmering done. Well, at least sorta going. We'll see.

Scarlett Valentine's Awakening Here Today!

Today the fantastic Scarlett Valentine is here and talking about her book, Awakening. Thanks for joining us and if you want to continue following the tour, click here! You could win a $25 GC if you comment. Oh, and there's always the chance of suprise prizes. Comment to get your name in the house.

But let's get started!! What was your favorite scene to write in Awakening?

The courtyard scene was probably my most favorite because Ysbail really shows her mettle. She’s a spirited woman who exhibits her defiance to her new husband right from the beginning. But in the courtyard scene, she proves she’s the lady of the keep and not a woman to be trifled with.

What was the inspiration behind Awakening?
I love Wales and wanted to set a story there. After researching a bit of early Medieval Welsh history, a plot came to me and used real characters and situations from that time period to create Ysbail and Bedwyr. I’m really pleased with the results and hope readers will be too.

What is the most interesting thing you’ve done in the name of research?
Probably the most interesting (more likely the scariest because of my fear of heights) was traveling by narrow-gauge train to Snowdonia’s summit. It’s not the highest mountain in Great Britain or even Europe, but it is the highest in Wales. From the summit, on a clear day and in the right atmospheric conditions, the view is exactly as I wrote it in Awakening. From up there, the World appears at one’s feet. I know this sounds corny, but looking out across the expanse of the landscape and sea, I felt . . . for just a moment . . . if I spread my arms and leaned into the wind that I could fly! My knees shook the whole time I was up there, but I loved every moment of it and can’t wait to return.

What do you consider as the most frustrating side of becoming a published author and what has been the most rewarding?
The most frustrating for me is coming up with the first line of the first chapter. When readers open my books, I want the first line to grab them by the lapels and yank them into the story. If I’m not yanked in by the opening line then neither will my readers. Having a gripping first line is the key that unlocks the door to the rest of the story.

I could say the most rewarding part of being a published author is hearing from readers, about how much they enjoyed my story. We all like our egos stroked. But really, passing on what I’ve learned to new writers is probably the most rewarding. I was given a special gift from authors who published before me so it’s only right to pass that gift along. Education is a gift that must be shared and not kept to oneself. Pay it forward!

What accent inspires you to do naughty things?
My husband is Irish, born and raised in Cork City. When he speaks his native language . . . {fanning self} . . . ‘nuff said!

Name something readers would be surprised to learn about you?
My husband and I married twice — once in Ireland with his family and again in California with my family. He likes to call me his second wife. When he talks about his ‘former’ wife I ask him if he wants one or two divorces. The ‘four of us’ just celebrated our twelfth wedding anniversary, and fifteen years together.

If you could ask the readers one question what would it be?
What do you look for when choosing the erotica you read — time period, fetish or kink level, balance of story vs sex, cover art, plotline . . . etc?

What’s your writing process like?
The only process I have is doing my research as thoroughly as possible. And I continue checking facts as I’m writing. Once I have something resembling an outline, character names and a direction the writing comes quickly. Once the first draft is done, I’ll read and reread the book, editing as I go until I’m happy the book is ready for submission. My favorite quote is from Dermot Bloger, an Irish novelist, who said "Write with passion in your heart; edit with ice in your veins." No truer words!

What is the best thing about being a writer? The worst?
The best thing is being able to roll out of bed in the morning, slip into my Crocs and go to work. Working from home is the best.

The worst thing is being able to roll out of bed in the morning, slip into my Crocs and go to work. Once my computer is on, everything else falls away. Thank goodness I have dogs or I’d never leave the chair once I’m planted on it.

What is your method of breaking through writer’s block?
I don’t believe in writer’s block. A ‘block’ means I haven’t done enough research, haven’t plotted thoroughly, or allowed myself to get distracted.

I view writing like taking a car journey. I have a starting point (chapter one) and a destination (The End). The middle is a route of twisting roads, forks and dead-ends. Sometimes, while I’m traveling along with the story I’ll need to back up and chose another route, or if an unforeseen obstacle drops in the road I have to be more creative to get around it. It’s the twisty-turny bits that make the story more interesting. Who wants to get in the car and drive a straight road for several hours with nothing interesting to see along the way? If my plot starts looking too straight, I’ll check the map (outline) again for a more interesting route and see where it leads.

What fuels you as an author to continue to write?
Honestly, I don’t know. I’ve enjoyed writing for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, writing was a personal thing. Writing is one of the greatest forms of expression, and for an ultra shy girl (yeah, I know, me shy?), it was my way of letting my inner thoughts come out . . . to say the things I couldn’t verbally. I’m still a shy adult, but I’ve learned to share my work with others, and it makes me feel good when people enjoy my stories. But deep inside, I still write for me. Ask any author out there and he/she will tell you writing is part of who they are.

Can you tell us a bit about what book(s) you have coming out next and what you’re working on now?
Awakening is the first book in The ABCs of S-E-X: Love by the Letter series. I’m following the alphabet so next up is Beguiler, book two. This is the story of a ghost hunter who grew up reading tales of The Woman in the Wall. His investigations lead him to an ancient castle in Ireland which is steeped in its own legends.

When you get a chance to read, what books do you love to read?
Erotica of course, but also traditional romance, some thrillers, bios . . . pretty much anything if it has an interesting plot, likable characters and is well-written. I enjoy unique voices, too.

What bores you as a reader?
I’ll get slated for saying this and I apologize in advance to all the Scotophiles out there, but I’m bored to tears of stories set in Scotland. Until recently, I hadn’t read a Scottish set book in probably fifteen years. I used to understand the fascination with men in kilts, but it’s been so overdone over the years that I now bypass any story with a kilted hero on the cover. There’s a whole World out there to choose from.

What is your favorite feature on a person?
Sincerity. Honestly, while I write hunky heroes, I do it because readers expect it. But every personality trait of every hero I write are the kind of man I prefer — sincere, honest, noble, honorable . . . OK, and I like eyes. They eyes tell a lot, especially about a person’s sincerity.

What is your favorite time of day?
Sex o’clock! {yeah, I know, a real groaner}

What music gets you dancing?
Oh no! You’re outing me. I’m a retro girl all the way. I love music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Even as I type this, and while doing everything else except writing, I listen to www.kfox.com over the internet. I’m originally from Northern California and grew up listing to this station. I still prefer this kind of music over most of the modern stuff out there. I’m not saying I don’t enjoy modern music, I do. But classic rock gets me moving. I do kettlebell workouts and love traditional rock beats to keep time.

Aliens have landed on the planet. What are the three things you would tell them that are great about this planet?
Hmm . . . let’s assume they’re good aliens and don’t want to take over. Not necessarily in this order — diverse cultures, variety of incredible foods, and sex!

You have been locked in a mall and told you can get anything you want and when they open in the morning you won’t have to pay a single cent. What stores would you hit? Better question how would you haul away all your loot?
Yarn. I’m a yarnaholic. I need YA. Desperately. To haul it away, I’d knit a magic Santa sack to put it all into. Hey, you’ve seen how many toys he can fit in that sack. My yarnie loot would easily fit.

If you could share one major writing tip, to help other writers in their quest for publication, what would it be?
Have fun with it. If you aren’t having fun, what’s the point?

If you could write in any other genre what would it be, and why?
I love writing romance and erotica, but I’d like to write thrillers/PI/detective stories. I’ve tried but I keep getting caught up in romantic relationships. And frankly, death freaks me out. Because of that, I rarely kill off characters.

Thanks for having me here and being part of my launch party.

“What’s a little bondage between friends?”

Ysbail of Ellesmere is a pawn in her guardian's war. For decades there has been unrest between the marcher lords and Owain Gwynedd ap Gruffydd, King of Gwynedd. The most recent war had been the bloodiest she could remember in her eighteen years. Madog ap Maredudd, Prince of Powys, and his allies lost untold numbers of men at the hands of Owain's soldiers. When a settlement of truce is presented to Madog, it's at Ysbail's expense. She is to marry Bedwyr ap Owain, one of King Owain’s bastard sons, and his most notorious henchman. If all the rumors and stories she's heard are true, she knows her marriage will be rife with horror and fear.

Since proving himself worthy with his sword, Bedwyr fights at his king's side. He's shed oceans of blood and sent untold numbers of men to their graves. He's become what his name foretold—the grave-knower. He's afraid of nothing, least of all death. All men fear him, including those who fight at his side, and sometimes even his own king. Terror of him lives within women's hearts; only the bravest of whores accept him into their beds. And children weave their own tales of the monster they hear him to be, embellishing the details to their own gruesome degrees.

When King Owain informs Bedwyr that he's to marry Ysbail of Ellesmere as part of a peace settlement with Madog, Bedwyr is furious. A man such as Bedwyr can only survive on the battlefield. For without love, hatred will send a man like him to the edge of insanity. Then push him over. But when Bedwyr sees Ysbail for the first time, blood-thirst turns to blood-lust, and he vows to show her that she should have no fear of him.

“Take it off, Ysbail.”

She stood her ground, shoulders back, gazing into her husband’s black eyes, daring him to make her.

Their marriage was still fresh in her mind, as was the humiliating bedding that followed. He had granted her some respect in the task by ushering would-be witnesses from the chamber, but he had done no more than that before laying her on the bed, lifting her gown, and taking her most precious possession. While he had apologized for what must be done, she still had not liked it. His taking of her had been swift and every bit as horrible as she had heard it would be.

Her father, Alun ap Wnffre of Ellesmere, had been the governor and close friend of Madog ap Maredudd, Prince of Powys. Her mother had died in childbirth, and Ysbail had barely been out of swaddling when her father was killed fifteen years previously during one of the frequent border wars. Madog had promised to raise her until she was of marriageable age. With the rapidity of the event, she felt Madog could not wait to be free from his responsibility. So afraid she might bolt, he had waited until her arrival in Oswestry from her home at Ellesmere to tell her of her betrothal.

He was right to worry, for she was to marry Bedwyr ap Owain, one of King Owain Gwynedd’s bastard sons, and his most notorious henchman. Legends preceded Bedwyr. She grew up hearing tales of his bloodlust and the carnage left in his wake. He was what his name foretold, for Bedwyr meant grave-knower.
