In this new collection from well-established authors Cendrine Marrouat and David Ellis, enjoy a series of love poems delicately crafted to stimulate emotional and endearing aspects of our deep connections with each other.

Cendrine and David have selected poems for this volume that perfectly capture feelings and nuances relating to romantic notions. They explore how love can fundamentally shape and change you, how it can feed your innermost muses/desires and ultimately how it can define you as a person, if you fully embrace it with every fibre of your being.

Love need not be scary or complicated. This collection shows us that even the simplest of intimate gestures can mean more to us when speaking from the heart and soul.

NOW FOR AN EXCERPT:

The Garden Beyond the Looking Glass

(Inspired by the Greek Fable The Magician’s Horse)

Once upon a time

There, in a large forest

Beneath the stars at night

Stood a trace of human life

A living soul, with hunger and thirst

Lost in the flame of a fire, flickering

A glow spoke from it

Pure gold in a looking glass

Smouldering ruins, discovered, heard

Behind a mirror, there was nothing to lose

The sound of the earth, answered

“Fly once more and see the way!”

We must look back again behind us

When not able to advance, retrace steps

Hear the twinkling, the water, the fizz

Gather it, open a door of promise

Let anyone see and set out through beautiful paths

Everything loved from that moment, celebrated

Not to be left behind

You will find the sun glittering, in all directions

A rose in rebellion, disguised as a garden

Where the right of nothing but ‘be themselves’ is good enough

Be a hero for many and see a reward embroidered within

Grayality
By Carey PW

Love knows no gender.

Pate Boone, a twenty-six-year-old transgender man, embarks on a new adventure when his childhood best friend, and yes, ex-lover, Oakley Ogden, convinces him to escape their hometown in hopes for something new.

They land in Cloverleaf, a tiny rural town in Montana, so that Oakley can care for his granny who is battling breast cancer. She pressures the two young men to enroll in a nearby college. Pate immediately becomes enthralled with Maybelle, a young, vivacious freshman to whom he fears revealing his transgender identity. Still, he finds it impossible to resist Maybelle, even after he meets her ex, Bullet, a large, violent man determined to keep Pate away from “his girl.”

But there are others who accept Pate immediately, like Stormy. An outdoorsy, rugged freshman, Stormy warns Pate away from Maybelle and Bullet, but Pate’s too infatuated to heed these warnings.

Oakley tries to support his friend’s new love but finds himself entangled in his own emotional calamity when he unintentionally falls for Jody, a gay and ostentatiously confident drag queen. This new relationship awakens deep internal conflicts in Oakley as he struggles to accept his bisexuality, lashing out at Pate and causing friction between him and Jody.

Oakley must decide if he can overcome his insecurities so he doesn’t lose the love of his life. And Pate must discover if the love between him and Maybelle is strong enough for her to accept him as a transgender man, or if she will break his heart.

Now for an Interview:

Can you describe your dream home?

My dream home is my home now. I live in a horror house. I painted all my walls black and using stencils, I covered them with images of Jason, Freddy, and skulls. I have ghosts and clowns that hang from my ceiling. I have horror-movie themed curtains, stools, eating utensils, bedding, rugs, and shower curtains. I think it’s the coolest thing ever! It’s also a big house with a two-person garage and finished basement. For what houses typically cost right now, it was a bargain for the square footage we got.

If we were to come to your house for a meal, what would you give us to eat?

That’s hard because while I cook almost everything I eat from scratch, I’m always worried that my tastes are too different for other people. However, my husband can smoke some amazing ribs, and who doesn’t love ribs, right? I would make some fresh corn with roasted red pepper butter, some sour cream and chive dinner rolls, and maybe a rocky mountain cheesecake or Irish cream cake for dessert.

Tell us about the absolute BEST fan letter you have received.

Since Grayality is my debut novel, I haven’t received fan letters. I can recall one from my teaching. I was in Denver for my kidney donation surgery. It was the end of the semester, and a student was angry at me for a grade and attacking my teaching. With the extra stress of the surgery on my shoulders, it really got to me. Then I opened my email to find a message from another student who was confiding in me about a problem and shared that he/she/they trusted me completely and really needed my guidance. I needed to hear something like this that day. I hope fan letters will be that good.

Say your publisher has offered to fly you anywhere in the world to do research on an upcoming book, where would you most likely want to go?

This is a hard question. If I could just go anywhere, I would want to go to Peru, Cape Town, or some place in the Middle East. I prefer to see places and experience cultures that significantly differ from my own. However, I am a little scared about traveling some places as a transgender person.

Who designed the book cover for the book you are touring?

My publisher, Pride Publishing, helped with the cover art, and it was designed by Kelly Martin. I provided some character descriptions and got to choose from three designs. I would be willing to share the other two that didn’t get chosen for any fans who are interested. I thought it turned out really well. I love the Montana mountains in the background.

Now for an Excerpt:

We sat on his sofa, me sipping water through a straw and listening to a punk rock station that Stormy had found just for me. He held a bag of ice in a washcloth against my jaw for me, and I eventually laid my head on his lap to make it easier to ice.

“I know it’s hard to talk, but I don’t know what transgender means. Would you explain it to me?” he asked.

Moving my mouth the best I could, I shared my story with Stormy. I told him how I’d never felt like a girl but rather a boy always trying to be something he wasn’t. I told him about the baggy clothes in high school, the sports bras and binders to squish down my breasts, and Oakley, loving me as a girl but not as a man. I even told him about the suicide attempt. At this point, I figured he had already seen me get assaulted. He had already seen my vagina. Everyone in town already knew. What more could I lose?

He just listened in intent silence. Surprisingly, words flooded out of my swollen jaw, and I kept drooling as I talked. Stormy wiped it away with the washcloth and kept listening. The hours flew by until I saw the sun shining in through his blue curtains and heard the early birds chirping outside. I was exhausted.

Book Blast ~ Forever Askole by Gail Koger

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Gail Koger will be awarding a $25 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

My name is Ella McAllister, I’m a psychic witch and a healer. My life is kinda nuts. Not only do I have the Coletti hunters chasing me, but now I also have a very determined Askole High Commander after me. Why? I shot his ship down and it crash landed, and it blew up. Yep, itty-bitty pieces everywhere. My bad, but his ship was a dead ringer for a Rodan Marauder, and it was my civic duty to blow the enemy spacecraft out of the sky. Wasn’t it? Any hoo, I healed his owies and boogied.

I thought that was the end of it, but oh no. For some unknown reason, Sariel, the Askole High Commander, decided I would make him the perfect mate. As if. I think the blow to his head made him completely bonkers.

Sariel informed me the mating dance had begun and there was nothing I could do to stop it. The idiot had obviously never dealt with a witch before. I didn’t have the time to play games with him, so I did a little abracadabra alakazam and ran.

Sigh. The persistent Askole found me. Now I have a decision to make. Keep running or surrender to the High Commander. He is a damn good kisser.

Would the mating dance bring two lonely souls together? Who knew?

Read an Excerpt:

Sariel abruptly changed the subject. “I had armor made for you.”

That got my attention. “Did you?” Since I was heading for the Wild West of the galaxy, body armor would come in handy. “What’s the catch?”

Amusement lit Sariel’s eyes. “So suspicious.”

“You bet your ass I am. What’s the catch?”

“A simple kiss and the armor is yours.” Sariel’s big hand cupped my ass.

Geeze, he was like an octopus. I removed his hand. “That’s it?”

“Yes.”

“Uh huh.” The sneaky bastard was planning something, but what? I kissed his chin. “There you go. Where’s my armor.

Sariel laughed. “A real kiss with tongue.”

I really wanted that armor. I pressed my lips to his and took small, careful tastes of his mouth. I didn’t want to impale myself on his fangs. Yep, Sariel definitely tasted like cinnamon. A wild, edgy excitement tore through me as our tongues tangled in a slow, sensual dance.

Sariel caught my chin in his hand and the hot friction of his mouth had me vibrating with pure, undiluted need. He was a fever in my blood. I burned for him. I had a sudden, overpowering need to fuck Sariel blind. No! No! No! This was bad on so many levels. I had to stop this before I did something stupid. “Stop! You’ve got your kiss. Where is my armor?”

“Obstinate to the end. Your former lover has much to answer for.”

About the Author:
I was a 9-1-1 dispatcher for the Glendale Police Department and to keep from going totally bonkers – I mean people have no idea what a real emergency is. Take this for example: I answered, “9-1-1 emergency, what’s your emergency?” And this hysterical woman yelled, “My bird is in a tree.” Sometimes I really couldn’t help myself, so I said, “Birds have a tendency to do that, ma’am.” The woman screeched, “No! You don’t understand. My pet parakeet is in the tree. I’ve just got to get him down.” Like I said, not a clue. “I’m sorry ma’am but we don’t get birds out of trees.” The woman then cried, “But… What about my husband? He’s up there, too.” See what I had to deal with? To keep from hitting myself repeatedly in the head with my phone I took up writing.

Now for an Excerpt:

Her legs began to slow as the bits of debris began to rain down on her.

No. Keep moving.

It was his voice that gave her the last jolt of energy. The recognition in her body that made her want to swim.

Sydney tried to focus on her breathing and not on the ringing in her ears.

The blood from the cut in her arm was swirling in the water below her. She knew of a few sea animals who liked blood.

She shuddered.

She treaded water vigorously, trying to put some distance between her and fiery debris that lit up the sky behind. Her body was on autopilot now, survival mode. There were no islands no large formations of land nearby, but on the horizon she could see the black outlines of debris from the explosion. The boats were scattered.

Sydney could feel the heat on her back as the remnants of the floating mansion behind her continued to burn. There were staff on board, innocent crew members who had been smiling and serving her hors d’oeuvres just a few hours ago.

Sydney squeezed her eyes shut at the thought of them on the boat when it happened.

The shock was setting in, and she felt her legs start to slow in the water.

No, she told herself, keep moving.

Just as she started to lose focus, she saw a large object moving toward her in the dark. It was moving more quickly than she was, gliding through the water like the fin of a…no.

Sydney started to peddle a little faster.

As her breathing quickened, she heard the mass behind her move closer. There was a small splashing sound and it occurred to her, that sharks didn’t make splashing sounds like that. She wanted to look behind her but kept moving forward.

“Sydney!” he was screaming her name. She heard the motor of the boat thrumming towards her. “Sydney, hold on!”

Veils and Vampires by CEE BEE - COVER REVEAL!!

I’m checking out the Bold Tsarina nightclub, even if it is owned by Konstantin, the Bratva crime lord who hates my guts. After all, the trip could snag me a high-paying gig for another mafia king, the infamous Caelin Vass.

Yes, that Caelin Vass.

I’m talking about the hot-as-sin social media sensation who’s rumored to be both a horrible boss and a blood-sucking vampire. And did I mention that Caelin’s also the star of my hottest NSFW fantasies? He is. Plus, that isn’t even the strangest part of my life right now… or the best.

Read my story and have some fun. You know you want to.

Read an Excerpt

Far up the street, a police car switches on its flashers.

This is getting good.

The driver's side door whips open and out steps Celin MacGregor, my would-be boss. The man does not look happy. He glares right at me.

“What're ye doin', lass?”

Huh. Vass' accent gets heavier when he's angry. Nice to know.

“Talking with some girls from high school.” I gesture to Devon and Shay as evidence.

Only the two of them are gone.

I frown. “Or, I was chatting them up.”

Caelin stalks closer. On reflex, I step backward. Soon my spine hits the glass facade of the building. It's not like sidewalks in Manhattan are super huge.

Caelin sets his hands on either side of my head, caging me against the wall. My blood heats. If I thought there was some kind of energy between us back in his office, it's nothing compared to what zings between us now. The connection becomes a charge of desire that prickles across my body. I might even be panting a little.

“I'll ask ye again,” says Vass, his voice low. “Ye know the likes of them?”

“It's like I told you--I went to high school with those girls. And you're standing awfully close.”

The whoop of a police siren slices through the air. A man's voice reverberates through a loudspeaker. “Move your vehicle.”

I go up on tiptoe and peer over Vass' very broad shoulders. Sure enough, three police cars are lined up behind his badly-parked Porche. One officer stalks closer. The guy wears sunglasses even though it's after ten o'clock. You have to admire that kind of swagger.

Caelin glances over his shoulder and shoots the officer an angry look. The man freezes in place.

I raise my hand to shoulder height. “I'm over here, in case you're wondering. Maybe you can ask Caelin to back off from both the sidewalk and my face.”

The officer pales. “I'm so sorry, your Majesty.” Without saying another word, he gets back into his vehicle and drives away. The other police cars follow.

Leaving me alone with one very angry Scotsman.

To free up more men a new unit is formed: The Ack Ack Girls. These special teams of courageous women will now fight in the anti-aircraft stations. Determined to be part of the effort, Ava Armstrong, volunteers for one of the special teams.

Read an Excerpt

London-October 1940

Ava’s blood froze in her veins at the growing roar, or so it felt. Her heart pounded in her ears. The hammering hardly noticeable against the raw fear that filled her as the air raid siren wailed.

Which direction were the planes coming from?

In the basement everyone sat on the floor, their backs pressed to the wall. No one spoke. Everyone held hands. In the flickering lamplight, Penny had grasped Ava’s.

And they waited.

The first explosion sounded from across the river, many blocks away. Ava closed her eyes and whispered, “Thank you.” A wave of guilt hit her. Part of the city was destroyed. Londoners were dying while she gave thanks. But she was grateful.

The ack-ack-ack sound of the anti-aircraft rounds cut the air and joined the warning wail.

Closer now, another barrage of anti-aircraft bursts rang out as the deep rumble from the German planes came their way. Ava and the Gordon family instinctively tightened their grips on each other’s hands.

“Miss us, please miss, please miss...” Ava repeated.

The roar of the Messerschmitts was overhead now. The bombers growled like gigantic, angry bears. Grandma Gordon fingered the imaginary beads of a rosary as she recited a Hail Mary.

At the first whistle of falling bombs, Ava pulled Peaches to her and cradled the trembling dog. Without thinking, she curled her legs up, buried her head between them, and covered her head with her arms.

The worst thunder clap times a million, that’s how Ava remembered the noise just before the bricks crashed around her. It sounded like the end of the world.

In a way it was.

Blurb Blitz ~ DIAMONDS N' ROSES By VOGUE

DIAMONDS N' ROSES By
VOGUE

After battling through the highs and lows of an intense and often dramatic relationship, fashion designer, Carmen Davenport, and business mogul, Jay Santiago, are finally ready to plan their most anticipated event to date – their wedding. However, before they can get down the aisle, they must endure a few unexpected surprises, twists, and turns.

Now for an Excerpt:

Finally hearing her voice, Jay set the pencil on the desk. “I’m serious about this wedding. Lately, I haven’t been showing that side of me, but I promise, all that is going to change. I’m going to be more involved like I should’ve been in the beginning.”

“You better,” Carmen replied, rising from her chair. “I don’t know what’s going to happen if we have this conversation again.” She picked up the rest of the papers, organizing the documents into a stack, which she set on top of her laptop. “Everything will be right here if you want to look at it. I’m gonna head upstairs. I’m done for the day.”

Jay didn’t pressure her into staying, but he did make sure to get a kiss before she left. To him, the kiss served as confirmation he was officially in her good graces. He still had a lot to prove, but at least he was off to a start. The only thing he had to do now was play catch up.

Once she left, he reached for the stack of papers. He reviewed each one until he was up to date. For Carmen to be the only person majorly contributing aside from the planners, she had put a major dent in the planning stage. There were still things which needed to be decided upon, which led Jay to grab a sheet of paper from the printer. He started jotting down ideas and by the time he was there was hardly any white space on either side of the page.

About the Author:

Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Vogue’s journey through the world of creative writing first began in middle school with poetry and songwriting. However, it was her discovery of prose that opened the door to a world of endless possibilities.

In 2003, she put pen to paper and thus was created, Diamonds in The Rough, part one of The Diamond Collection series.

By 2010, Vogue had written drafts of the entire ten book series and in June of 2010, Diamonds in The Rough, was published.
