Maon: Marshal of Tallav
by Cailin Briste
Maon
Keefe has always been told he’s doomed to fail as a husband. He decides never
to marry instead focusing on living life as a player and becoming a capable
marshal of Tallav. When he is shot and the most-wanted criminal he’s escorting
escapes, he fears that his career, his one success in life, is doomed. Assigned
to ferret out the cause of missing shipments for a VIP aristocrat, he meets Selina
Shirley CEO of the House of Shirley. He finds himself inexplicably attracted to
her despite her frumpy appearance. When he meets a hooded and masked, scorching
hot Domme, Lasair, at his friend’s BDSM club, he’s torn between the two women.
Both fire his imagination and call to his submissive nature. Either might be
the woman to change him into successful husband material.
Selina Shirley organizes her life like she organizes her business, taking control of all aspects of each. She’s concluded that she must marry to get an heir and that her future husband must be totally submissive. Mentored by the sector’s most famous sadist, she learns what it takes to be a proper Domme. Then, hidden behind a hood and mask, as Lasair, she meets Maon and her instant attraction to his full submission at the BDSM club leads her to break her own rules and become involved with him. But he’s also the marshal assigned to investigate thefts at her company. When his broad streak of protective alpha male comes into play, it obvious he’s not a 24/7 submissive. To stick to her plan to marry the perfect husband, she must ignore her heart and dump Maon.

Now for an Excerpt:
Despite his ordinary, nondescript looks, Randolph, owner of
the Whip Hand, had a charisma that mesmerized even the most difficult people
into doing exactly what he willed. Not that Maon needed mesmerizing to take up
Randolph’s gauntlet. They were friends, and when Randolph had needed someone to
help in a predicament bondage scene, Maon had been hesitant to assist him.
After all, what was in it for Maon? He wasn’t into Randolph, and he didn’t like
pain. When Randolph turned it into a challenge with a hot female sub as a
prize, Maon’s reluctance had evaporated. Now it was a given that Randolph would
offer Maon a new sadistic challenge whenever Maon made it to Beta Tau. The
public play space was already crowded with tourists of every stripe, from
lifestyle kinksters to the merely curious. The Whip Hand was a place to indulge
your fantasies or explore new possibilities. Only the serious-minded would
complete the security registration that allowed them to enter the private play
space and individual rooms beyond the public areas. Maon spotted Randolph
heading toward him. A woman who looked familiar to Maon was following him, but
she darted into the locker room before he could get a good look at her. He
turned back to the scene he’d been watching.
“You ready?” Randolph asked when he strode up to where Maon
was observing a younger man using a single tail to make a submissive shriek in
fear. With each crack, she screamed even though the whip had yet to touch her.
“He’s good,” Maon said.
Randolph crossed his arms over his chest. “Trained him
myself.”
“What? Mind fucks or the whip?”
“Both actually.” Randolph’s face lit with a smirk.

decades. Her non-fiction work has been published in magazines and in a
non-fiction anthology. She’s a member of Romance Writers of America, the RWA
Fantasy, Futuristic and Paranormal Chapter, and the RWA Passionate Ink Chapter.
Cailin likes to flip convention on its head,
creating a universe in which each planet is a study in different what ifs. What
would happen to alpha men on a matriarchal planet where the women are not
Dommes in the strictest sense but certainly have the attitude down pat? How
would society handle it if girls born on their new planet developed empathic
senses? Cailin throws her characters into these settings, heroes and heroines
whose kink is a major defining attribute of their personality.

It Started With a Kiss
by Ella Quinn
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This season, all eyes
are on the Earl of Worthington’s spirited, beautiful sister, Lady Louisa
Vivers. Many gentlemen are vying for her attention in and around the ton. Yet,
Louisa longs for someone who can take her beyond the ballroom—a man who is
worldly, adventurous, and passionate. She won’t settle for just any suitor. She
wants her true soul mate—and she’ll know him when she sees him.
Is Gideon, the Duke of
Rothwell, him? The moment he and Louisa meet, they share a powerful attraction.
Rides at sunrise and waltzes at dusk follow. Finally, Gideon can no longer
resist the urge to embrace her, and Louisa is sure he will ask for her hand.
But Gideon believes he is in no position to marry. The Rothwell estate has gone
bankrupt, a scandal simmers in its wake, and he has nothing left to offer. Now,
he must decide if he will let pride stand in the way of true love—or if he will
risk everything, and let the lady decide for herself…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now for an excerpt:
“Rothwell.”
A pair of showy dark bay horses drew even with him, followed
by an extremely fashionable curricle.
“Bentley.” Resisting the urge to smile, Gideon raised his
quizzing glass, reviving a long-standing joke between him and his cousin. “When
are you going to learn to select decent horseflesh?”
“If you really cared,” Bentley retorted, “you would have
been here to help me, and not off in Canada dressing in bearskins or whatever
it is you wore over there.”
The carriage came to a stop.
“Harrumph,” Gideon scoffed. “While you are here and
obviously have nothing better to do, I would appreciate a ride to Doctors’
Common.” He needed to tell Templeton about this latest development. Not waiting
for his cousin to answer, Gideon climbed onto the curricle. “You may also tell
me what is so urgent I must drop everything and come to Town immediately. As it
is, you’ve left me kicking my heels for two days.”
Bentley started the horses, but immediately turned to face
Gideon and dropped his ribbons.
“Watch what you’re doing!” He grabbed the reins from his
cousin’s slack fingers.
“Blast. I forgot.”
Bentley reached for the ribbons, but Gideon shook his head.
“I think I’ll keep them until you’re finished.”
His cousin heaved a sigh worthy of Drury Lane. “I am in
love, and I need help convincing her to marry me.”
Gideon loved his cousin like a brother, but he had no idea
how he could assist in matters of the heart. Then again . . . “Happy to do
whatever I can. Who is the lucky woman?”
“Didn’t I tell you?” Bentley asked, surprised.
“No,” Gideon replied with all the patience he could muster.
“I received a letter from you telling me you needed my help, but you failed to
give the reason.”
“You probably don’t know her in any event. She came out just
this year.”
He raised a brow, hoping to hurry his cousin along.
“Lady Louisa Vivers.” Bentley said her name as if she was
the sum of all his dreams.
Hell and damnation! Could my luck get any worse?

His sister's life is at
stake, and despite his wealth and power, Sheik Emir Al-Nassar feels helpless.
At least heading his family's security agency provides him with resources to
track down her kidnappers. But when the ace profiler he's sent turns out to be
K. J.—Kate—Gelinsky, Emir is furious. Finding the kidnappers' desert hideout is
dangerous enough without the distraction of a beautiful woman.
But K.J. is unlike any
woman he's ever known. Her fearlessness and incisive mind inspires Emir's
admiration. And her compassion breaches his guarded heart. Still, rescuing his
sister is a perilous mission. And allowing desire to cloud his focus could
endanger them all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for an Excerpt:
Just looking at that hand confirmed every doubt he had. It wasn’t just about customs, she was female
and because of that and so many other things, she was the wrong person for the
job.
“I’ll help you find your sister. You just need to trust me.”
“No!” The word came
out with the pent-up fury that had built since the fateful call from Tara’s
kidnappers and now the full impact of it sparked in his eyes as his temple
pounded and his fists clenched.
“No,” he said with less edge but with no room for
negotiation. He was wasting time, had
wasted time, first waiting and now in a senseless airport run. “I don’t care what you specialized in. You’re a woman and because of that you’re
going home,” he said bluntly. “I’ve
wasted enough time. I’ll speak to the
pilot and we’ll get you out of here.”
“You’re not being fair.”
“I’m not being fair,” he repeated, emphasizing each
word. If she’d been a man he would have
had her by the collar up against the wall, his face in hers. But she wasn’t and that was the problem. “You’re useless to me. I’d have to watch out for both you and
me. That’s a distraction. Look at you – you couldn’t swing a punch or…”
One minute he was seething, glaring at her, and the next he
was flat on his back.
“You bloody flipped me,” he snarled, leaping to his feet.
About the Author:
The Canadian
prairies are my home and while the prairie landscape is blessed with beautiful
blue skies, it also has four seasons that come on full throttle – especially
winter and because of that I like to travel.
Often on those trips, stories are born.
In 2011 I won
my city's writing award, and was the first romance writer to do so since its
inception. In 2013 my romantic suspense
was a semi-finalist in the Kindle Book Awards.
Published in historic romance and paranormal romance as well as romantic
suspense, in February 2016, my first novel was published by Harlequin Intrigue.
There’s no lack
of places to set a story as my imagination and the too long prairie winters may
find me seeking adventure. The memories
of those worlds both near and far, the words of a stranger, the furtive look
one man gives another, often become the catalyst for a suspenseful story with a
deadly villain and an intrepid hero and heroine who must battle for their right
to love or even their right to live.
When not
dreaming of other stories, I can be found scouting out a garage sale or two,
dusting off my roller blades or just thinking about the next adventure that may
be miles away or in my own backyard.
When Wilhemina Turner’s
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now for an Excerpt!
“Fine.” He looked away first, turning his attention back to
the items he’d collected upon his desk. “If you want to join me, then you may.”
She squared her shoulders and stood a bit straighter having
won their duel of wills. “Good.”
Without another word or a single glance, Chesterton left the
room.
Not one to be left behind, Wilhelmina hurried after him,
through the study and up the stairs.
“Where are we going?” she asked once they’d reached the top,
breathless from the burst of activity.
He strode down the corridor, seemingly unaffected by the
brisk climb. “To my bedroom.”
She immediately stopped. “Your bedroom? Why ever would we go
in there?”
Chesterton turned back to her, one sardonic eyebrow arched
high. “To change,” he answered. “You didn’t expect me to head out in this, did
you?” He turned and continued toward the room, looking back at her before
entering. “Are you coming?” he asked, voice smooth as warm chocolate.
This wasn’t the first time she’d been lured into George’s
bedroom. He’d been an earl, the courtesy title bestowed upon him at birth, but
more than that, he’d been a gentleman. Apparently, he’d lost that when he’d
inherited the Marquisate. His bedroom was no longer an inviting sanctuary, and
this invitation was not one of love as it had once been, but a lewd
proposition, tenderness replaced by cruelty, as he watched expectantly for her
reaction.
“I don’t think that’ll be necessary,” she stuttered, trying
in vain to remain calm and collected as he started to untie the sash about his
waist holding his robe closed. He let it fall to the ground and the robe
opened, revealing his chest and torso in all its naked glory.
And it was indeed glorious.
She quickly averted her glance, whipping her head around and
staring attentively at the painting on the wall.
“Is something the matter, Mrs. Turner?”
She was not about to play this game. She didn’t have the
time, and he didn’t deserve the enjoyment it would undoubtedly bring him to see
her suffer so. And most importantly, she couldn’t play because she knew good
and well that she had no chance of winning.

A Human Element

Evil comes in many
forms…
One by one, Laura
Armstrong’s friends and adoptive family members are being murdered, and
despite
her unique healing powers, she can do nothing to stop it. The savage killer
haunts her dreams, tormenting her with the promise that she is next. Determined
to find the killer, she follows her visions to the site of a crashed meteorite
in her hometown. There, she meets Ben Fieldstone, who seeks answers about his
parents’ death the night the meteorite struck. In a race to stop a madman, they
unravel a frightening secret that binds them together. But the killer’s desire
to destroy Laura face-to-face leads to a showdown that puts Laura and Ben’s
emotional relationship and Laura’s pure spirit to the test. With the killer
closing in, Laura discovers her destiny is linked to his, and she has two
choices—redeem him or kill him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for an Excerpt:
She planted her feet shoulder-width apart, and facing the
woods, commanded its inanimate objects to obey her wishes. Her hands danced in
fury as rocks and branches flew through the air toward one another.
She stripped off her sweater and turtleneck, now damp with
sweat. The sun hit the lake from the treetops burning off the fog, shooting
millions of sparkles across the water toward her. But Laura closed her eyes to
the beauty and fought her war with evil.
The sounds of her battle echoed around the lake as wood and
stone broke against each other. She was a creature of nature and hypnotized in
the darkness of her mind as she fought. She shrieked with bitter triumph.
Then exhaustion overcame her and her rage drained away. She
sank to the ground, weeping. The pain of her many losses overcame her. How
could she win against something she didn't even know? But she did know one
thing. She and this killer had to be connected. Just as she was connected
somehow to the man she sensed deep in the earth here all those years ago. She
rose up on her knees and threw back her arms wide open in protest, her chest
reaching out toward the sky.
"Just come and get me you bastard! I'm ready!" She
opened her eyes and squinted from the sunlight now all around her.
"Laura," a voice called softly from behind her.
She jumped up and turned around to see Ben standing by the
shoreline. The adrenaline that had surged through her body disappeared. She
felt weakness crash over her in waves. She couldn't form words to say. Tears
still streamed down her face.
She reached out a hand to him and it shook. She stared at it
as if it weren't part of her body and she tottered on her feet. Ben lunged
toward her and caught her before she fell.
Out Now ~ Finding Leigh – Dark Horse Inc. Book 3 by Amy J Hawthorn
Out now from Amy J Hawthorn!!
A ghost emerges from Rick’s past, kidnapping the woman he loves and the leader of Dark Horse Inc. will stop at nothing to get her back.
Leigh Ann MacDonald values love and loyalty above all else. When Rick denies their attraction, he deals a callous blow to her tender heart, but their search for the little girl with no home brings them back together. Their passion grows, but when frustration mounts, can their love survive a race against time? Terror, multiplying obstacles, and a search for a missing girl—it’s time to call in Dark Horse Inc.
Now for an Excerpt!!
It wasn’t the first time she’d
noticed that his upper body strength hadn’t suffered the least bit. His broad
shoulders and flat abdomen filled out his tees to perfection.
With Tallahassee at her back, he’d
boxed her in close enough to feel his body heat. His breath brushed softly
across her cheek. Air charged with heat and long denied desire whispered over
her.
Sweat beaded at his temple. He
licked his lips, and forget keeping track of their conversation. She couldn't
remember her own name.
He spoke in the quiet rumbling way
she loved. “What did you do?”
She blinked. “Do what? When?” Where? How? Who? Thankfully, breathing was an automated function,
otherwise she’d be blue in the face. She shifted her focus from the temptation
of his mouth, meeting his gaze with hers only to sink into the depths of his
dark as night eyes.
Liquid need pulsed through her.
“In school. What could you have
done that branded you a troublemaker for years?” One hand squeezed her hip and
the other tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. A cool breeze whispered
through the barn. Horses shifted in the background, content in their stalls.
She blinked and took a breath. Then
another. A single finger flirted with the skin just about her jeans. Her breath
hitched somewhere between her sternum and her heart.
She swallowed. “Which time?”
He quirked a half-smile and shook
his head once. “Why am I not surprised? Pick the one you got into the most
trouble for.” He reached out as if to teasingly tug her hair. His features
softened and desire glittered in his eyes. His hand slowed and caressed down
the length of her hair, all traces of play gone.
She matched his grin with one of her
own. “I got suspended for pranking the high school’s basketball star. I went to
the thrift store and bought an enormous pair of granny-panties. Later, I
attached them to his car antenna with superglue, like a flag.”
“Why in the world would you do
that?” His head shot back a few inches and his eyes widened.
“He was picking on one of the girls
from the trailer park, saying really nasty things to her.”
“And you stood up for her when no
one else would.” His face softened as he looked down on her.”
“He was quiet, so none of the
teachers heard the nasty things he said to her. Melissa, the girl I stood up
for, was so embarrassed, she wouldn’t say anything at all.”
“It’s no wonder you became a social
worker. It’s in your blood.”
“It is. It’s hard, sometimes heart
wrenching, but I miss it even now. There’s not any way I can get back to work
until after he’s caught, is there?”
“No. I’m sorry, there’s not. I
won’t allow it.” Regret softened his voice.
“I’m trying to behave, really, but
I don’t know how much longer I can bear it.”
He tilted his head in confusion.
“Behave? How are you supposed to behave while you’re here?”
“I’m trying to give you space,
letting you do what you do best without interference. Part of me wants to be
underfoot, asking a million questions about what you’ve found and what your
plans are. I would only be a hindrance. If I could go to work, even for just a
few hours a week, I think it was ease my restlessness. I don’t do well with
boredom.”
“Give me a little more time and
we’ll get him. Hang in there, okay?” He kissed her briefly, sweetly then pulled
back.
“Okay.” She dropped her forehead to
his chest and sighed. What else could she do? She looked up and met his dark
gaze. “I trust you.”
A flash of something dark and
potent flickered in his eyes. He seemed hurt, torn.
Pulled closer as if by some
invisible force, her body brushed his. The heat of his palm pressed flat
against the bare skin of her lower back holding her in place. The other
returned to her waist.
Blissfully helpless, she waited, star
struck as his mouth descended. Firm, full, silken lips brushed hers. She
parted, thirsting for his taste, so hungry for any morsel he’d give.
Tangling her fingers in the
material of his shirt, she held on and succumbed. He groaned, the sound a
delicious rumble. Thinking she’d won, that he’d finally surrendered to the
unbreakable pull that bound them, she smiled beneath his mouth.
His kiss was everything she’d
dreamed of and more. Desire, fiery and fierce burned through her,
all-consuming. His tongue met hers, seducing and claiming. He pulled away, only
to return for more. They crashed together in a passion fueled maelstrom.
His hand swept up under her shirt,
across the bare expanse of desire sensitized flesh, then pressed her front flat
against his, crushing her against him in the most delicious way. Dizzy with
need, her every cell seemed to reach for his with a desperate ache.
Tallahassee shifted behind her and
brushed against her back. Rick pulled out of the kiss, rested his forehead
against hers. He closed his eyes. Starved for air, their chests rose and fell
in a matched rhythm.
Then without a word, he walked
away.
In a not-so-subtle hint for
attention, Tallahassee nudged her shoulder. She turned and reached for the
reins. She run a hand along the horse’s neck. Pressing her cheek to
Tallahassee’s side she closed her eyes to shut out the heartbreaking view. She
might be a strong, independent woman, but that didn’t make it hurt any less
when she watched the man she loved walk away.
