Book Blast ~ A Kiss in the Shadows by Lily Danes and Eve Kincaid

It's a book blast for A Kiss in the Shadows and there are prizes to be won. How? Comment and take part via rafflecopter. What could you win? The authors will be awarding a $20 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Very cool!! Want more chances to win? Then follow the tour here:

A Kiss in the Shadows
by Eve Kincaid and Lily Danes

Erin Grady is used to taking care of people. That’s why she’s thrilled to finally realize her dream of opening a clinic…and why she’s willing to overlook where the money came from—until a determined prosecutor comes sniffing around.

Will Patton is desperate to leave the small fogbound town of Lost Coast Harbor and build a real career for himself. But to do that, he’ll need to expose the dirty police chief—and betray the woman who makes him wonder if he’s leaving town too soon.

But the corruption in Lost Coast Harbor runs deep and wide—and exposing the truth will require Erin and Will to expose their hearts…no matter the risk.

And now for an Excerpt:

Erin studied Will in the pale illumination from the street lamp. The overhead light brought out his cheekbones and cast his eyes into shadows. The fine mist settled on his thick dark hair.

God, he was really good looking. Objectively, she’d recognized this fact from the moment he’d fallen in front of her, and again when he was lounging in the hospital, trying to charm the nurses. But now, standing in the dark and cold night, alone… she couldn’t take her eyes off him.

His lips turned up slightly and her stomach fluttered. She’d been staring too long, too intently. The heat burned up her neck to her cheeks.

“How about the dinner I promised?” he asked.

Erin shook her head. “You don’t have to do that.”

As soon as the words slipped out, she wanted to take them back. His gaze intensified and the flutters in her stomach grew to tremors. She didn’t even like cops, and though he wasn’t in uniform, that’s basically what he was. He was the end result of law enforcement.

“I want to.”

She shivered and tried to tell herself it was the chill from the fog, but knew it wasn’t. It had been way too long since a man had looked at her like that.

Oh, what the hell.

“I have to get Colin home,” she said.

“Tomorrow then,” he said. He still held her hand, his thumb casually stroking the inside of her wrist. The touch was intimate, familiar. Long-dormant parts of her body woke in a wave of longing and heat.

“I can’t tomorrow. I, uh, have to—I have plans,” she said, with genuine regret.

Will raised an eyebrow and Erin realized she was brushing off the only man who’d taken her breath away with a touch in, well, forever.

“It seems that an awful lot of your vocabulary revolves around what you have to do,” he said, his head tilted slightly as he watched her. “How about this? I’m going down to the Crab Shack for dinner in about an hour, because it’s the only place open on a Monday night in this town. I’ll get a table for two. If you want to join me, I’d love the company.”

What she wanted was a nearly foreign concept, something Will seemed to have picked up on. She could defend herself, argue that she did what she wanted. That would be a lie, though. And she did want to meet him later.

“I’ll be there,” she said.

It was a good opportunity to take Jerry's advice and talk to a prosecutor about the donation to the clinic, her rational mind said. It was just dinner.

But with a man whose slightest touch sent her reeling, her body reminded her. So don’t be late.

About the Authors:

Like so many good ideas, Lost Coast Harbor was inspired by a few rounds of margaritas. One sunny afternoon, Lily Danes and Eve Kincaid went to a Mexican restaurant for snacks and tequila and left with the idea for a new series. Inspired by their love of noir movies and 1940s crime novels, they imagined a gritty small town full of crime and corruption, where intrigue and mystery can lead to love and passion.

Eve Kincaid is a lapsed lawyer who decided that fictional crime was more fun than the real deal. When she’s not writing about mysterious women and the dangerous and sexy men who love them, she’s probably shopping for books, lipstick, or imported cheeses to complement a nice California pinot noir.

You can keep up with Eve’s new releases by signing up for her reader newsletter. She’d love to hear from you. Just don’t be creepy about it.

As Tiffany and Thomas speed along without a map, the only destination that seems certain is being together…

And now for an Excerpt!!

Blondie stood there giving the other models a thorough eye scan. Gay. What a shame.

She shook her head at herself. What did it matter? She was practically an engaged woman.

Blondie hovered at her side.

Clichés sucked, but some of these boys had no brain beneath all that brawn. Hooking her hands beneath the hem of his T-shirt, she tugged. “You have to take this off for makeup.”

“Are you taking my clothes off?” Blondie folded his huge paws around hers and stopped her. He had a great voice, like hot chocolate laced with rum. The sort of voice that would do great bedtime stories.

She hauled back on her thought path. “You have to strip.”

He looked right at her. Not past her or around her, but right at her as if he wanted to see straight into the center of her.

“Strip?” Up went one eyebrow.

Something she didn’t want to name crackled through the space between them. Sweat prickled her palms. Her hands were still fisted around his shirt, exposing about two inches of stomach. He had a garden path trail of hair disappearing below the low-slung waist of his jeans. That would have to go. Pity. Tiffany dragged her stare off his navel and focused on the writing on the front of his T-shirt: Never trust an atom—they make up everything.

Cool shirt. She and Blondie were probably the only two people in the world who thought it was funny. “Yes, strip.”

She pulled at the shirt and his hands tightened over hers. Tiffany glared up at him. Following up on late with an attack of modesty? Unbelievable. Did he think he would be modeling undershirts and long johns? “You have to take it all off.”

“Normally I get dinner first.” Those bad-boy eyes danced at her, inviting her to share the joke. For a second, she badly wanted to.

“Tiffany, sweetie.” Tyrone appeared beside her. “That’s not your model.”

“What?” Tiffany stared at Blondie. Of course he was her model, because otherwise she was stripping . . . A whimper caught in her throat.

He looked back at her.

Tyrone took her by the shoulders and spun her around. “That’s your model.”

He pointed to a beautiful Rocky (as in the Picture Show, not Sly) look-alike talking earnestly to Piers. Piers lapped it up, waving one hand through the air and patting the pretty blond boy on the arm.

“I . . .” Tiffany peered over her shoulder. Please let the last two minutes be a figment of her imagination. Her figment grinned at her and tucked his hands into his back pockets.

Book Blast ~ Silver's Captive by Lee-Ann Wallace

It's a book blast for Silver's Captive by Lee-Ann Wallace and there are prizes to be won! What? Lee-Ann will be awarding a $15 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. How cool is that? Want more chances to win? Follow the tour here:

Silver’s Captive
by Lee-Ann Wallace

Determined to finish her studies and restart the search for her missing parents, Tarnee’s life
is thrown into chaos when she is kidnapped by a silver eyed stranger. Held captive by the captain of a pirate ship, Tarnee finds herself drawn to him despite her need to get home.

Tor’Arr has been searching the universe for his one and only, the woman who will complete him and knows when their eyes clash across a busy space station that he has found her. He will allow nothing to stand in way of claiming her as his, not even his crew. Thrust into a dangerous world where she must rely on Tor’Arr to keep her safe Tarnee must decide if she’s prepared to give up her dreams to be with a man who can be anything she desires.

And now for an excerpt:

“Will you take me home?” I asked because I had to. It was too important to me just to let it go. I’d spent every waking hour since my parents disappeared, working towards the day when I could search for them and I was so close to my goal.

This man may make me feel things I’d never felt for another man, and we might have some strange kind of connection, but I’d never forget my parents. I’d never forget that they were out there somewhere.

Frustration crossed his face as I looked at him.

“I can’t do that, Tarnee. Now, even more than before. We’re already leaving your galaxy.”

A crushing sense of disappointment almost overwhelmed me. I turned away from him to look out the window behind me, lost in what I felt, my gaze lost in the endless expanse of space.

I heard movement behind me, the soft rustle of fabric as he moved, along with footsteps on the plush carpet.

“Is it so terrible that you can’t go home? Is staying here with me such a hardship, Tarnee?”

His voice had been close, so close. I looked over my shoulder to find him standing right behind me, between the two chairs that sat opposite the built-in couch.

“You don’t understand,” I replied.

“Then help me understand. Tell me why it’s so important to you that you go home. Tell me why you won’t even give us a chance.”

Especially one that can’t seem to make his mind up on whether to grip her close or shove her away. Undaunted, this little spitfire plans to thaw Sotarios’s frozen heart even if hers has to take a few beatings before he sees the truth.

Book 8 in the Fueled By Lust Series yanks you right back into the lives of the sinfully sexy Insedi. One fast paced, jaw dropping, breath stealing, hell of a ride.

And now for a Scorching Hot excerpt!

Smiling against his soft skin, she ran a palm up the side of his thigh, feeling the muscles harden and his skin pebble. His breath caught as the back of her hand purposefully brushed across his tightened sac. Grasping the center of his rock-hard cock, she leaned back and pulled it closer to her mouth. It was hot to the touch, silky smooth, and so fat she could barely touch her fingertips together. Flicking her gaze up, she felt complete satisfaction in watching his white teeth catch his bottom lip the second her tongue licked across the sensitive tip. The grip to her hair tightened.

“Umm, you taste good, Sotarios.” Another slow lick scraping across the top drew a long moan from his throat. Drawing as much saliva as she could, Raine quickly licked her palm and recaptured his cock, giving it a few languid strokes from center to tip. His eyes were closed now, sculpted lips slack, and belly trembling. He was hers for the taking.

Pushing the smooth cock into her mouth, Raine slowly worked her tongue and lips up and down the sensitive flesh in order to suck him in as far as possible, fist tightening with every downward stroke. She knew she could only handle a third of his impressive dick without choking herself out, but she needed him to feel her everywhere. A heady sensation crawled across every inch of her skin, teasing her flesh. Overwhelmed with a need to possess him, Raine threw caution to the wind. Screw savoring. I have to have him.

In Drakker and Arlo’s world, women are so rare the men have accepted a polyandrous lifestyle. When the brothers stumble upon Fay unconscious in the wreckage of an aircraft, they are immediately attracted to her. Arlo wants to keep her, but Drakker knows they can’t. They must take her to their brother Logan Abán, leader of their people.

Logan struggles with trusting anyone, even himself. When a beautiful, intelligent, and intriguing woman falls into their laps, his denied desires for intimacy challenge his need to trust the spy. He’s frustrated by romantic Arlo’s claims of her innocence. Even when pragmatic and dominating Drakker defends her as well, Logan refuses to trust his gut.

Can one woman satisfy the diverse desires of three men? Will Logan’s fears be realized by betrayal? Is Fay to be sentenced to death as a spy, suffer a fate worse than death by being returned to her government as a traitor, or will she find a new life and love as the wife of three sexy brothers?

And now for an excerpt!

Logan gave a thumbs-up then said to Fay, “When I want to get things done fast, I’ll have to remember to get you jealous.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Somehow you managed to get results none of us could. We’ve been stuck here for what seems like forever. Every day we asked to leave and got rejected for one reason or another. Then your sweet violet eyes turn green with envy because of the attention I gave that young woman, and the next thing I know, we’re out of here.”

“I wasn’t jealous. And she wasn’t a woman. She was a girl.”

“She was a woman and very familiar with the ways of men.”

“She was a tart and tease.”

“Darlin’, I hate to inform you, but the little lady was no tease. She was as hungry as a mountain lion, and I was going to be her main course until you stepped in.”
“Really? Well, I’m sorry I interrupted.”

“No you aren’t.” Logan smirked. “You were jealous.”

“I was not!”

“Come on, admit it. You’re not as indifferent to me as you claim, are you?”

“What?” Fay groaned with her attempt to turn around to see his face, but found it impossible harnessed the way she was.

Chandra finished getting Arlo strapped in and shouted, “Are you two finished scraping?” She motioned for Logan to push the red button. “Let’s go!”

As he reached for his button, Chandra’s sail filled with wind, and off she flew across the dirt with them in her wake.

“I’ll have you know,” Fay hollered so he could hear her above the wind rushing past their ears, “I don’t care if the girl was flirting with you or not.”

“Really? Then why did you force your way between us and shoo her out? I think you like me. Might even adore me.”

“Abhor you, did you say? Yes, you might be right.”

“I said adore. And you do. You just don’t know it yet.”

It's an excerpt tour and Walker Bride is being featured! Check it out! Want to win a prize? Comment. What's up for grabs? Bernadette will be awarding autographed copies of all three Walker series books (US ONLY) to a randomly drawn winner, and one e-Copy of one of the author's backlist to another randomly drawn winner; both via rafflecopter during the tour. Walker Bride
by Bernadette Marie

Always the bridal consultant, never the bride. That was former bad girl gone business professional,
Pearl Walker's life until she put her hands on Tyson Morgan while measuring him for a tux.

Tyson was happy being a miserable man, taking care of his family's land, and not involved with a woman. However, even he can't resist the pull of attraction to the beautiful, and off limits, Pearl?

The feud between the Walkers and the Morgans had torn apart friends and families for generations. What might happen when Pearl Walker and Tyson Morgan become business partners—and more?

And now for an Excerpt:

Her intentions on bringing Tyson to the bar had been to ease him into something—anything. Her blood had been pumping since Tyson walked through the door of her store. What she hadn’t anticipated was diving into family history or it upsetting her as much as it did.

She was no prude. She understood relationships and sex. Greed fueled her too. That’s why she was so successful. What she didn’t understand was a man who would move from woman to woman and family to family as if it were okay. Why would he think it was okay to gamble away their savings over and over and then try and take away what his father and his brother worked so hard to grow?

The waitress set her beer on the counter, and she picked it up with shaking hands.

The afternoon was going to be a waste now. Tyson Morgan was going to finish his drink and get out of there as fast as he could. Why wouldn’t he? Crazy Walker women were not a prize anyone wanted to win.

She could feel the first two beers swimming in her head as she walked to the table. The glass sloshed over the side a bit as she set it down.

“You okay?”

“Fine,” she said as she picked up the glass.

“How are you getting home?”

“I have a car.”

Tyson’s lips pursed. “Yep, but I’m not thinking you should drive it.”

“I wasn’t going to. I’ll go back to my store and stay there for awhile. I’m not stupid. I won’t drink and then drive. I won’t even text.”

He actually laughed at that. “I didn’t mean to get you all worked up over your dad.”

She set her glass down and leaned in over the table. “Are you attracted to me?”

His eyes widened, and his face went pale. “Of course. You’re a very beautiful woman.”

“Why don’t you have one?”

“One what?”

“A woman?”

He finished his beer and let out a long breath. “Don’t need one.”

The first time I saw Gabe in my sensual cupcake bakery, I had no idea who he was. All I knew was chiseled perfection like him could never really want a girl like me. That didn't stop me from craving and lusting after everything I could never have. Success.

And I was trapped in a twisted frenemy relationship with my douche bag ex fiancee. I never would have dreamed who Gabe really was, what he wanted and why he wanted it.

My f*cked up family taught me a lot. Take rather than give. Anything. Everything.

Ally made me feel clean. Whole. I'd do anything to have her and even more to keep her. In spite of my past but more importantly ... because of it.

I took her tenuous control and worshiped her killer curves. I never suspected she'd steal my heart.

And now for an excerpt:

Blackness and strange noises rang through the gloom. What was this? I floated through it, as though I didn’t have a body, couldn’t feel any sensations. I was pretty sure I’d died, but heaven was black and smoky. Or had I gone to hell?

Then, there were voices, strange tones which skipped and repeated.

“Miss?” A gravelly voice, deep and comforting pierced the despotic darkness. “Can you hear me?”

Strong arms enveloped me, lifting me from the floor. I cracked an eyelid and slammed it shut again immediately. The smoke remained thick and the burning was so bad I couldn’t see through the moisture pooling in my eyes, the flood of tears protecting them. The crackle of fire returned in a rush and my body turned rigid in response.

“It’s okay. I’ve got you,” he murmured, and folded me closer to his hard chest. Safe. I felt safe in his arms. He took measured steps. “Is there anyone else in here? Anyone who needs help.”

I shook my head as a bout of coughing took over any ability to speak. Shouts rang out, men rushed by, disturbing the smoke, creating a whirlwind of warm air which brushed the sweaty strands of hair clinging to my forehead. It felt like a film of smoke and perspiration had encased my entire body.

“Codsworth,” I choked.

“What?” he asked. He had to be a fireman. Fresh air now. Or, was it him? He had the most amazing smell. I couldn’t open my eyes, could hardly breathe, but the scent of some woodsy cologne — Gucci? — permeated my nostrils through the haze of soot that lingered there.

“Codsworth,” I repeated. “My cat. He’s upstairs.” I clutched his arm with all my remaining strength. “Please …”

“Don’t worry,” he replied. “I’ll get him for you.” He quickened his pace and I clung to him with arms like noodles, resting my head against the fire retardant suit. He was as hard as a rock and for some reason, I felt like everything would be okay as he took charge.

The air grew clearer; there was a rush of wind and sound. Sirens blared, people chattered.

“Oh my God, can you believe it,” a woman said nearby.

“It doesn’t look too bad.” That was a man’s voice. Spectators probably, but my eyes were too scratchy to open yet and I didn’t even want to try.

“Here, take her,” the firefighter carrying me said, his deep voice raspier with the smoke. Then he placed me on a bed, a stretcher. Fingers brushed my ear, and the heat of his breath penetrated. “I’ll come back after I’ve found Codsworth. You’re safe now,” he promised, all calm confidence.

My skin erupted in tingles as gooseflesh spread across my skin. I forced my eyes open, staring through the blur of tears, but he was already gone.

“You’re fine now, just relax.” A woman in a paramedic outfit appeared beside me and placed an oxygen mask on my face.

I frowned at her, my eyes had cleared pretty fast, though my chest still felt croaky. My limbs were floppy too. None of it mattered compared to losing the bakery. Or Codsworth.

I tried to pull the mask off, but she stopped me.

“No, you rest now. There’ll be enough time for talking later.” The medic lifted a flashlight and checked one eye then the other. “Looks okay there.”

I let her carry on with her protocol, but I felt stronger by the minute. I’d inhaled a bit of smoke. I’d not been burned to a crisp. The blessed oxygen flooded my lungs, clearing my mind and body. But still, I was exhausted. To the bone.

Murder at Morningside
by Sandra Bretting

Hat designer Missy DuBois opened her shop, Crowning Glory, along Louisiana's Great River Road to cater to the sophisticated Southern bride. But bless her heart, who knew creating stylish wedding veils would lead to murder?

And now for an excerpt:

Before Beatrice could say more, the front door flew open and in stomped an elderly
gentleman. He was on the verge of a good old-fashioned hissy fit.

“Y’all don’t deserve a say in this wedding!” he said to a young woman who’d slunk in behind him.

The girl looked to be the right age for his daughter. She wore flip-flops and a wrinkled peasant blouse, and she buried her head in her hands. Well, that lifted the blouse an inch or two and exposed her bare stomach.

Lorda mercy. It seemed the girl and her fiancé must have eaten supper before they said grace, as we said here in the South, because an unmistakable bump appeared under her top. She looked to be about four months along, give or take a few weeks, and I could see why her daddy wasn’t too happy with her right about now.

After a piece, she lifted her chin and glared at him. “I hate you!” Her voice rippled as cold as the river water that ran nearby. “I wish you were dead.” She stalked away.

I fully expected the man to cringe, or at least follow her. Instead, he merely glanced our way and shrugged. After a minute, he pivoted on the spectacle he’d caused and casually strolled away, leaving a bit of frost in the air.

“Oh my. Why don’t we continue,” Beatrice said.

Poor Beatrice. She obviously wanted to divert our attention elsewhere. It couldn’t have been every day one of her hotel guests wished another guest was dead. She hustled us farther into the ballroom, as if nothing had happened, all the while explaining the history of Morningside Plantation.

And now for an excerpt:

Gabe walked straight to the corner and ran his fingers across the leaves of a ficus, his eyes almost soft.

He moved around the room, studying each plant, touching a few others with gentle fingers. “It’s like a jungle in here.” Gabe’s hand hovered near the orchids she kept on the mantel, but he resisted the urge to stroke the temperamental plant. “They’re all real, too.”

“Of course they are,” Maddie said, indignant. She might not be able to keep a relationship alive, but plants were another matter. They thrived under her care.

She wasn’t prepared for his expression when he turned to her. He looked…grateful?

“You don’t realize all the things you miss.” It didn’t seem like he was talking to her.

“Not a lot of plants in prison, huh?” She fought a shudder at the thought. Life without a bit of dirt and a few seeds sounded so sterile, though her rational mind knew it was nothing compared to the other things prison took from him.

“Not a lot of all sorts of things.” He shook off the melancholy, and she could practically see his inner devil return. Gabe’s eyes raked her, a smile tugging at his lips. “This isn’t the home I expected from a straight-laced professional woman.”

Maddie winced. “New furniture isn’t cheap.”

His laugh was unexpected. “I don’t think I’ve sat in a new piece of furniture in my life. No, I mean this.” His gesture took in everything, from her plants to her clothes to the afghan spread across her sofa. “Are you secretly a softie, Maddie?”

She glowered, and he laughed. “Don’t worry. I’ll keep your secret,” Gabe assured her.
