Pistol Whipped
by Ashley Bostock

She’d known him for forever…

Gabriella Crawford has been best friends with Logan since the 2nd grade, but that’s all they’d ever been…friends. Suddenly after 20 years, Gabbie starts to notice Logan in a different light. But sex has never been something Gabbie thought was great and it’s certainly not something worth risking a friendship over. Or is it?

He’d never really seen her until now… Logan Reeves should not be looking at his best friend’s breasts. Not even when he sees her modeling lingerie. But try as he might to stay in the ‘friend zone’ Logan can’t stop fantasizing about Gabbie. And when a business trip forces them to sleep in the same bed, all bets are off. Especially once Logan finds out Gabbie needs to be shown how good sex can be…

But is it too late?

Incredible sex might not be enough to keep these two together. Not when old secrets from the past and new career opportunities threaten to rip Logan and Gabbie apart forever.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now for an excerpt!!
He stretched, folding his arms underneath his head, “I don’t know what to do about this, Gabriella. I’m leaving Colorado.”
“I know.”
“We are really good friends.”
“I know.”
“There is nothing I want more right now than to touch you.”
Silence.
“Does that mean you don’t want me to touch you?”
“Touch me how?”
Logan removed his hands from behind his head and turned to face her on the bed.
“Look at me,” he demanded.
Gabriella turned to face him. In the dark, he could barely make out her face with only a small fraction of it illuminated by the alarm clock.“How would you like me to touch you?”
“I’m nervous, I don’t know. You could come closer though.”
A lawyer with good reason to abhor violence, Irina is wary of her new client, a famous boxer accused of murder. As a street orphan, Tyr learned to fight for survival and trust no one. Despite their differences, the two find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other.
With secret forces working both for and against their alliance, Tyr and Irina find themselves on a journey fraught with danger, betrayal and overwhelming desire. Ultimately the fate of billions rests in the hands and hearts of two lost souls who must overcome their fears and learn to trust each other.
Reader Advisory: This story has graphic sexual language and scenes—no closed bedroom doors (or other rooms) here!
A Romantica® urban fantasy erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave
And now for an Excerpt:
The corporate box had been exactly as Irina expected, full of deathly boring egos and bad chat-up lines, most of the guests more interested in the sound of their own voices than watching the early bouts. Irina had been grateful for the distraction and very happy to follow him when Luc suggested getting nearer to the action. Mainly to get away from the corporate suck-ups, she told herself, not to get closer to the fight and…him.
Needing little encouragement, even from Cassi who had practically insisted they go off together, Irina followed her flatmate, chewing her lip nervously. Luc being Luc pushed a way for them both through the rowdy spectators, the VIP passes provided by her boss working their magic. A sudden roar as the crowd bellowed loudly, and Irina’s ears were assaulted by a frenzy of cheering, shouts and whistling as the two main protagonists emerged from the tunnel to her right. Both men were hooded, but Irina immediately felt the buzz of barely contained energy that emanated from the figure closest to her in red as he tracked a path to the ring.
And then he was there. Close enough to touch. A whisper away.
His head swung to the left as he passed by, a freeze frame moment, two dark eyes locking on to hers, dragging them both into a vortex, that dark, still space of existence. A gaping black hole opened up before her. Time and the whole of eternity stood still. The space around them dissolved and Irina found her gaze snared by twin black holes that widened for a split second beneath slashing ebony brows. As they expanded, she experienced a wild rush of adrenaline, her body spiralling into freefall, the compulsion to simply lose herself in the darkness of his eyes, so overwhelming she was paralyzed by it. His head turned, jostled by the ocean of the crowd. The connection broke and Irina was left shaking, deafened by the sudden barrage of sound and crushed by a devastating sense of loss.
Trembling, Irina grabbed on to Luc who steadied her with strong arms but was too busy cheering to notice her reaction. The rest of the fight was a complete blur. Irina glimpsed snippets through a red haze of noise and motion. The fighters in the ring, the hustle of coaches and trainers, the referee trying to keep them apart before the bell sounded, the surge of battle, fists flying, a block, a jab, a flurry of uppercuts, bones cracking with the force of impact.
Blood. Guts. Sweat. Everything she hated. Violence. Rage. Anger.
The thump of bone onto canvas and the racing of her heart pounding as an arm punched the air in victory. Her one overriding memory at the end of the night, the jubilant face of the man who haunted her dreams and nightmares, triumphant in all his bloodstained glory.
Mated with the Cyborg
by Cara Bristol
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kai Andros’s orders were simple. Get in. Gather the intel on the terrorist organization. Get out.

Then he met her. Mariska. Beautiful. Innocent. Ignorant of her father’s atrocities. And marked for death.

His orders said nothing about saving her. But he did. He went off-mission.

Can a rogue cyborg outrun both Cyber Operations and the terrorists to save the woman he loves?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now for an excerpt:
Some might have cheered Mariska’s impending demise. The organization’s brutality had incited a backlash of negative sentiment against all its members. Many espoused the notion that the only good Lamis-Odg was a dead Lamis-Odg.
Kai couldn’t buy into that. Mariska had been no party to the actions of her father or Lamani. She was vulnerable. Innocent. But not stupid or cowardly. In the month spent observing her, her quiet fortitude and inner strength had impressed him. Even before he’d caught the shocking glimpse of her face, he’d been struck by her beautiful eyes. A rich shade of melted caramel, fringed by dark lashes. Expressive in their attempt not to be. She didn’t trust him.
Her wariness pierced him in a way it shouldn’t. She was a person of interest and her emotions shouldn’t impact his decision-making. And in fact, she was wise to be suspicious. Obido had bugged her quarters and employed spybots to keep tabs on her. While Kai wouldn’t intentionally harm her, he would manipulate her to obtain whatever information he could on Lamis-Odg.
The reign of terror had to be stopped.  Direct intervention in Mariska fate jeopardized that goal. Doing nothing was the right thing to do. Sacrifices had to be made for the greater good.
Why did he feel like he was no better than Obido?
When they rounded the corner to the gangway entrance two guards—Lamis-Odg, not androids—snapped to attention, weapons drawn. “Halt!” one of them cried.
“It’s okay; he’s with me,” Mariska said.
While one guard leveled his weapon, the other scanned him. “The android is not authorized to board,” the guard said.
“He’s not boarding; he’s loading my luggage. He’ll disembark after he carries it to my stateroom.”
“Negative. He shall remain here.” The guard motioned. “Leave the cases.”
Kai set the bags down, and the sentry scanned them. “Clear,” he announced. He jerked his head at Mariska. “You may take them now.”
She dragged one toward the craft.
“My duty is to serve the daughter of Obido. Allow me to set the bags inside the door. I shall not enter,” Kai said.
The two guards glanced at each other and shrugged. “All right.”
Under armed watch, he deposited both bags inside the portal.  There was nothing else he could do.  He sought Mariska’s gaze. Don’t go. “Have a safe flight.”
“Thank you.”
She boarded. Kai stomped down the gangway.
Virtual Book Tour ~ Her Captain by Taryn Kinkaid
It's time for a tour!! This time it's Her Captain by Taryn Kinkaid! You'll want to stick around. Why? Taryn Kincaid will be awarding a $10 Amazon/BN GC + a download of the book to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. How cool is that!! Want more chances to win? Follow the tour here:
http://goddessfishpromotions.blogspot.com/2015/09/vbt-her-captain-by-taryn-kincaid.html
Here's my interview with Taryn Kinkaid!
  1. Describe yourself in three words.
Majestic. Statuesque. Pulchritudinous.
Oh, wait. Me? I thought you were talking about the Statue of Liberty. People often confuse us. Except, I’m not green or made of copper.
  1. Cast your book.  Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie and why (send pictures!).
Holly Harper, the heroine of HER CAPTAIN, is a spontaneous, impulsive Aries with a backbone. She may dip her toes into puddles without first testing the depth or iciness of the waters, but she is buoyant and never sinks, always swims. The woman has a lot of backbone to go with her spunk. So spunky + backbone? That would have to be Jennifer Lawrence or Emma Stone. As for J Law, goofy as she may appear sometimes on the red carpet, let’s not forget she’s Katniss!
Or, smack a red wig on her wig on her (Holly’s a redhead) and presto, Emma Stone! Spidey’s love interest!
As for Slate, the hero of HER CAPTAIN, omigosh, that’s so much harder. (Well, so is Slate, actually.) I tend to picture a young George Clooney. Rock solid steady-as-she-goes, but minus a few decades. Here’s a picture from The Perfect Storm.
  1. What’s your favorite love scene from a movie?
Hmm. Another great – and difficult – question. Bizarrely enough, although he’s by no means my favorite actor, two scenes from two different Richard Gere movies pop into my head: when he climbs the fire escape to woo Julia Roberts at the end of Pretty Woman…and when he arrives in full-dress uniform at Debra Winger’s work place and literally sweeps her off her feet! Both are so swoony.  Then, of course, there’s Colin Firth in Pride & Prejudice, doing just about anything.
  1. What’s your wildest fantasy?
I would say World Peace, but you might confuse me for a Miss America contestant. And we can’t have that.
  1. If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?
I suppose if I were to lose my sense of taste, I’d be less likely to eat food for anything other than sustenance. That would be the horribly perfect diet, no?
  1. What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?
Can’t tell you. Not sure if the statute of limitations has run.
Quickies...They're fast, frantic and fun!
Boxers or Briefs?
Boxers
Top or Bottom?
That depends if we are talking about Oreo cookies or not.
Pajamas or nude?
Nude.
Hairy chests or smooth?
Smooth, but with hair. Not gorilla-hairy, though. Need to see the 8-pack. But a treasure trail is always fun!
Alpha or Beta?
Alpha all the way.
Thanks Taryn.Great answers! Now, here's a little bit more about the book:
Her Captain
by Taryn Kincaid
Capricorn Slate Claybourne, an ex-Seal and former sniper who has seen and done things in country that no man should endure, returns to his bucolic hometown on Pieberry  Island, desperate for the mundane, everyday routines he once wanted to escape.
A broken, soul-dead man unable to be around people, his body still a lethal weapon when his night terrors wake him from sleep, Slate’s failed to keep the promise he made to the commander who died in his arms: to look after the older man’s baby girl.
But animated Aries Holly Harper is not the pigtailed tot Slate expected her to be, when she lands on the island to take over the decrepit Pieberry House, determined to turn it into an inn for summer tourists, and even more determined to yank Slate back into the land of the living.
First she crashes into him at the island’s holiday Winter Festival, dumping a towering stack of pies at his feet, then she drags him off to a fortune teller against his better judgment. Except for the sizzling attraction smoldering between them, they’re incompatible in every way.
But when a furious December nor’easter traps them together at Pieberry House, will Slate and Holly overcome their pasts and discover they are two halves of a whole?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And now for an excerpt!

“Do we have to play this idiotic game?”

“We do. And it’s not idiotic. You’d be surprised how telling astrology can be. Was I wrong about you?”

“Well…” He paused, and the silence between them lengthened.

“I’ll take that as a no.” She grinned at him.

“All right.” Again he said nothing more, and she wanted to shake him until a confession fell out of his mouth.

“Chatty, too.” She tapped her foot and crossed her arms over her chest, drawing his gaze to her breasts. But he still didn’t take the hint. She groaned. Such a man. “Eyes up, sailor.” She flicked a finger in the vicinity of his chin until he raised his focus. “Birthday?” she demanded again.

“In a couple of weeks,” he said at last, the admission apparently so difficult it might have been wrung from him on pain of torture.

She snapped her fingers. “Knew it. Do I have you sussed or not?” “Do you?”

“I mean, we’re completely incompatible. Like oil and water. The tortoise and the hare.”
He shot her another incendiary look, and then glanced at the exit as if contemplating how fast he could make his getaway.

“Oh, wait. So I ruffled your feathers a little, and you’re not going to help me now?”

Instead of replying, he seized her fiercely by the arm and spun her around, dragging her into him until he’d caught her up against his rock-hard chest. Then his mouth came down on hers, hard, harsh, and demanding. Giving absolutely no quarter. Shocking her into utter and complete silence.

Whoa! I thought this man lacked spontaneity? Holy simmering cinnamon buns!

The Sound of Circumstance
by Susan Ann Wall

Stacie Nightingale doesn’t what the 2.5 million dollars of blood money she’s been awarded as
a result of the lawsuit she filed. She also doesn’t want the memories that are flooding her mind, causing her to remember the betrayal that led to her friend’s death and left Stacie with a traumatic brain injury. Neither of those circumstances matter though once her boyfriend Owen Landry proposes to her. She doesn’t want his proposal because of the circumstances that drove him to it. The mysterious woman he seems to be keeping company only fuels her insecurity and doubt. Stacie loves Owen, but with her past continuing to haunt her, she questions if their love is strong enough to survive.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now for an Excerpt!
“This closet may as well be a garbage can,” Stacie snarled as she stormed across the bedroom to the master bath. After slipping on a robe, she returned to the bedroom to find Jenny laughing at her.
Her best friend’s laugh was as irritating as Owen’s smirk had been. “Just yesterday you were bragging about your beautiful wardrobe. You didn't find anything inspiring this morning?”
“I made Owen go limp last night,” Stacie confessed, tossing another outfit onto the garbage heap on the bed and disappearing into the closet again.
Another annoying laugh. “You broke the Cajun Sex God? Is that even possible?”
Stacie poked her head out of the walk-in closet. “Not. Funny. Wait, what are you doing?”
Jenny tapped away on the touch screen of her phone. “I’m letting Ty know that Owen’s human. It’ll boost his confidence.”
Stacie crossed the room and tried to snag the phone from Jenny’s perfectly manicured hands, to no avail. Jenny could text blindfolded with one hand tied behind her back.
“You can’t tell Ty. You can’t tell anyone.”
“It happens to every guy at some point, Stace. Don't take it personally.” The phone beeped with the sound of a successfully sent message before Jenny practically pushed Stacie out of the way. Letting the fashion diva do her thing, Stacie dropped onto the bed, using the garbage heap as a pillow while an arm fell across her eyes.
“But it's never happened before.” What kind of cheese went well with whine? “I'd be fine with it except for what happened yesterday.”
Book Blast ~ Fairly Certain by Deborah Ann Davis
It's a book blast and there are prizes for you! The author will be awarding a $20 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour! How cool! Want more chances to win? Follow the tour here: http://goddessfishpromotions.blogspot.com/2015/10/book-blast-fairly-certain-by-deborah.html
Fairly Certain
by Deborah Ann Davis
Fairly Certain is the unlikely adventure of nineteen year old Petir Capota, a computer geek who finds
himself back in the days of Robin Hood after falling out of a tree in Connecticut. He awakens surrounded by a band of young British scavengers, clothed as if in Old England. His instinct to freak out is tempered by the arrival of a fair maiden wearing a bow…and arrow. Normally, fair maiden types don’t go for computer geek types, but for some reason, Petir is fairly certain he can do whatever he wants in this realm.
With the conflict of the Royals escalating, Maid Rianne has joined the outlaws hiding in the forest, outwardly defying the handsome and accomplished knight to whom she is promised. She is fairly certain she merely feels flattered by Lord Petir’s uncensored admiration of her skills with the staff and bow, the same unmaidenly pursuits disdained by her own knight. However, that does not explain the quickening of her pulse produced by Lord Petir’s unguarded gaze.
The outlaws bring Petir to their camp to tend his injuries. To Petir’s delight, and to Maid Rianne’s dismay, they invite him to join their merry band. It’s all fun and games until she is captured by the enemy. Now, a geek with no ability to defend himself must find a way to rescue the fair maiden.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And now for an excerpt:

Maid Rianne lifted off Petir in alarm, her arms bracing her from both sides of his body as she hovered just inches away. Although they did not touch, their gazes locked them together as their ragged breathing blended with the night noises. Still she did not retreat.

That was enough of a signal for Petir. He propped himself up high enough to reach her mouth and waited. Her face tilted toward him, and he brushed her lips with his.

Now, that was a tingle.

Magically, she deepened their kiss. She was so warm, and—

“Be sure to check on our guest before you bed down,” directed a male voice from outside the tent.

Maid Rianne’s head shot up. Panic washed across her face as she scrambled to her feet, frantically tugging her clothing and smoothing her hair. The flap of the tent quietly opened, and a head popped in.

“All’s well, Maid Rianne?”

“Yes, yes,” she snapped. “Of course all is well, sir.”

The intruder offered a puzzled look at her waspish tone as she self-consciously straightened her sleeves. He politely tipped his head at Petir, a suspicious glint in his eye. “Very well. Good evening, sir.”

 “One moment, sir,” she said, scooping up her belongings. “I shall accompany you,” And just like that, she was gone.

Dazed and elated, Petir flopped back on the pallet, all pain forgotten.

Maid Hottie had actually jumped his bones. Too bad you couldn’t wrap it up in a box and put a bow on it. Now that would make a great birthday present.

Best dream ever!

“According to my grandfather, who was Albert’s oldest son, Arthur refused to give Albert his share of the money and after Arthur died, Rose took off with it. After Rose disappeared, Albert changed and he refused to discuss the money or Rose ever again.”

“If she took the money, my grandmother never saw it.”

“She didn’t take the money,” Wade said.

“You seem very sure of that.”

“I am. My grandfather died five months ago. He lived in the same house all of his life. It had been Albert’s house as well. When we were cleaning it out, we found a box with a letter from Rose and a sketchbook.”

“Really?” I asked excitedly. My grandmother had often talked about her father’s sketches. She had been nine when he died, but she remembered looking through his books and watching him draw.

Wade nodded. “The letter was dated a month after Rose disappeared. She told Albert that the money was gone, and that she had left the gems where Arthur had hidden them. She said they had caused their family nothing but pain. She begged him to leave them and her alone. With the letter, she sent the sketchbook.”

“When Arthur died, his jewelry was in high demand. Those sketches would have been worth a good deal,” I said. “He never sold them?”

“No,” Wade replied. “As far as I can tell, they’re all still there. The letter and the sketchbook were wrapped in an old cloth and stored in a box. The letter was postmarked Dallas, Texas.”

We were both silent as I took it all in. When I looked back at Wade, he was watching me. I smiled slightly. “He let her go.”
