PROSECCO CHRISTMAS
by Sylvia Ashby

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Family is where life begins.
And what better time to spend with your family than Christmas week?
Ashley and Giacomo go to Upper Swainswick, a postcard village ten minutes’ drive from Bath, to stay with Ashley’s mum and stepdad. It’s their last visit before the arrival of their first child.
But babies have a habit of being unpredictable.
So when Ashley goes into labour on Christmas Eve, three weeks ahead of schedule, it takes everyone by surprise.
She’s not ready! Her perfect Birth Plan is packed away in her hospital bag two hundred miles away, she has no going home outfit, and she has a live event planned for New Year’s Eve for her YouTube channel, The Sinking Chef. People have been signing up for it for weeks. She can’t possibly disappoint them on the last day of the year. What is she to do?
The tinsel gets even more tangled when Giacomo’s parents decide to fly from Italy to meet their first grandchild. Hotels are fully booked, so everyone has to stay under the same roof.
Would eleven people in the house, not counting the baby, turn out to be simply too much for Ashley?
Now for An Excerpt:
We’re sitting around the low living room table about to begin a game of Best of British.
‘Right,’ Mum says. ‘Does everyone have a drink?’
Orna, Clara and Vittorio are drinking Prosecco. I raise my cup of tea. Thomas and Philip ignore her. They wanted to have the rest of the Coca Cola in the fridge, but Mum put her foot down. Also, they think Best of British is a dumb game. They wanted to play Cards Against Humanity, but Orna vetoed them. And now they are in a funk.
‘The question that we’re asking today is what makes British people so British?’ Orna reads aloud the back of the game box.
‘Let see,’ Mum opens the box and tips out the contents. There is a board, which she unfolds. The playing pieces are different colours and each of us has to choose one.
‘I’ll be blue,’ says Philip.
‘No, I’ll be blue!’ Thomas snatches the pieces before Philip can get to it.
‘I said it first!’
‘You can have green!’
‘Muuum! Tell him,’ Philip shrieks.
‘Boys, if you don’t behave there will be no desserts at dinner.’ Mum’s voice is assertive, but her eyes are pleading with them.
‘Tom always gets whatever he wants,’ Philip whines, but Mum stares him down and he settles for green.
Mum throws a shaky smile at Orna, who returns the smile without showing her teeth, then has the tiniest sip of Prosecco and rolls her eyes.
My blood boils in indignation on Mum’s behalf. How dare she treat Mum like that when she’s never had children. She has no idea what it’s like. I open my mouth to say something, then close it. What’s the point? She’s just a horrible woman. And I don’t want to spoil everybody else’s fun.
We each select a piece in silence and put them on the start space on the board.
‘Right, I’ll read out the rules, shall I?’ Mum grips the string of pearls hanging down her neck. She looks quite stressed. I wish she wouldn’t mind Orna.
She carries on.
‘“The Question Master picks up the first Question Card from the box,” I’ll be the Question Master,’ she says before Orna can jump in. ‘“The Question Master picks up the first Question Card from the box, making sure the answers are concealed from all the players on both teams. If it is a Picture Card, the picture is shown to all the players on both teams. If it is a Themed Card, the theme is read out to all the players on both teams. If a question is answered incorrectly then the Question Master can put the same question to the next player for a bonus move. If they answer correctly they move their own piece onto the next space on the board that matches the colour of the question.”’
Mum releases her string of pearls and makes them rattle.
‘Is everything clear?’ Mum looks around for a second time. ‘OK, then the youngest player goes first.’
Philip perks up. He picks up a card and hands it to her.
‘Who were Randolph, Diana, Sarah, Mary and Marigold?’ Mum looks at the answer perplexed. ‘Oh. This is rather hard. Perhaps you can choose another card, Phil. Something with a picture on it.’
‘This is not how you play a game!’ Orna pushes her ample bosom forward. ‘Rules are rules. They are meant to be followed by everyone. How will he learn to follow the rules if he’s always given leeway?’
‘He’s not always given leeway!’ Mum protests. ‘It’s just that… this question is rather out of his “era”.’
‘What do you mean out of his “era”? Since when has knowledge had an “era”? It’s not only current affairs that are important, you know?’ Orna clicks her tongue.
‘I didn’t say that, but he can’t be expected to know everything. He’s only twelve.’
‘Than you offer the question to the person who’s next in turn! When that person answers, he’ll learn.’
Mum rolls her eyes but complies.
Next in turn is Thomas.
‘Thomas, who were Randolph, Diana, Sarah, Mary and Marigold?’ Mum reads the question again.
‘I don’t know.’ Thomas grumbles. ‘This is a stupid game. Cards Against Humanity is much better.’
‘Yes, but we’re not playing Cards Against Humanity,’ Mum snaps at him. ‘We’re playing Best of British, OK?’
Her veneer is cracking. I see Philip throwing a warning glance in his brother’s direction but Thomas ignores him.
Next in turn is Orna.
‘Orna, who were Randolph, Diana, Sarah, Mary and Marigold?’ Mum reads the question for the third time.
‘They are all character from Downton Abbey!’ Orna says victoriously.
‘I’m afraid not, Orna.’ Mum’s mouth twitches. ‘They were Churchill’s children.’
Thomas starts laughing and Mum shoots him a warning frown.
‘Oh,’ Orna’s face turns puce. ‘Very well, then. Carry on.’
Mary will be awarding a $25 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Want more chances to win? Then follow the tour. Where? Too True to be Good
by Mary E. Thompson
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

His life was good…

Zach Bennett was content to go to work, hang out with his family and friends, and entertain a woman once in a while. As
his family found love all around him, he was content to stay single. Unattached. Happy.

Besides, he had enough to worry about with a new chef breathing down his neck for his job.

She faced the truth every day…

Gianna Brooks always wanted to work with people. She saw enough growing up to know kids need all the help they can get. They deserved to be safe. Loved. Happy.

Which is why she’s determined to get her new client into a forever home.

But the truth isn’t always good…

The last thing Zach needs is a little girl showing up on his doorstep claiming she’s his. Her social worker hot on her heels, and demanding a place to stay, definitely doesn’t make it any better. Especially with Gianna’s curvy body and bedroom eyes, and his daughter’s sad sweetness, making him consider keeping both of them.

Gianna knows she should run. Zach knows he should send them away. But neither of them can resist the pull toward the other.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for an Excerpt:
“We baked cookies today. Want to try one?” Zach asked when Gianna came in the door.
“You made these?” she asked, holding one up.
He nodded, draping an arm around Summer’s shoulders. “We did. It was a lot of fun. Wasn’t it?”
Summer nodded, giggling.
Gianna’s eyes narrowed, zeroing in on Summer. “What’s so funny?”
Summer shook her head, but she was still grinning.
“I think she ate too many cookies,” Zach said with a straight face. “Sugar high.”
“How long ago did you make these?”
“A few hours ago. We wanted to make sure we saved some for you. Try it.”
Zach waited, wondering if Gianna would take the bait. She examined the cookie closely.
“Is that mint?”
Summer burst out laughing and clamped her hand over her mouth. Zach nodded. “We wanted to make something different. It’s mint cream and chocolate cookies. They’re pretty good. I think you’ll like it.”
Gianna shrugged, then popped the whole cookie in her mouth. She chewed, her eyebrows tugging together and her head tilting to the side. Then she rushed to the sink.
“Ack! What happened? Those are not very good. Aren’t you a chef?”
Summer was doubled over laughing. She looked up at Gianna and said, “Those were toothpaste cookies! We got you!”
Gianna’s eyes bugged out. She looked pissed. A slow smile turned her lips up, and Zach knew he was in trouble.
“Oh, payback is going to be so much fun!”
About the Author:
Mary E. Thompson grew up loving to read, like a good little girl. Many nights she would fall asleep with the flashlight still turned on as she hid under the covers trying to finish the last few pages of a book. As an adult, the light from her ereader means she doesn't need a flashlight, but she still stays up way too late to finish a book.
When Mary's not reading, she's playing with her two kids or living out her own real life romance novel with her hubby. She has a weakness for chocolate, especially when it's paired with peanut butter, and has been known to have a bad day just because there's no chocolate in the house. Unless there’s wine. Then everything is okay.
Mary grew up in Buffalo, New York and swears she's the only local to never ski or snowboard. Soccer was always her sport, with a couple adventures white water rafting and skydiving to keep things interesting. Mary moved to South Carolina for college but missed Buffalo every day. Yeah, she thinks she's crazy, too. She somehow convinced her South Carolina born and bred hubby to return to Buffalo to raise their kids and live out their lives. He’s still not sure what he was thinking.
Book Blast ~ Devil's Gamble by Michelle Arris
It's a book blast and this time I'm featuring Devil's Gamble by Michelle Arris. You'll want to keep reading. Why? There are prizes to be won. Like? Michele will be awarding a $25 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour, and a $15 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn host. How cool is that? Want more chances to win? Then follow the tour. You can do that here:
Devil's Gamble by Michelle Arris
Sienna Keller saw how men used her mother, and from an early age she swore she’d never allow it to happen to her. So when she meets smooth-talking billionaire Gavin Crane, who uses his connections to help her art career, she resolves to keep things strictly professional—no matter how gorgeous he is.
Gavin might be the son of the head of the Kavanagh organized crime family, but he wants no part of that life. It’s important to him to prove to Sienna that he’s a good guy. But when she winds up in the hospital with a gunshot wound, he is driven to exact revenge. His father agrees to provide security to watch over her as well as find the man who shot her, but at a cost—Gavin must come back into the family business.
As Sienna begins to let her guard down around Gavin, seeing the kind, caring man he’s always wanted her to see, his secrets begin to pile up. Has she done the one thing she vowed never to do—trusted her heart to the wrong man?
Now for an Excerpt:
“It’s the most beautiful painting I’ve ever seen. You have an amazing gift.”
He slipped into an intense stare, knocking her off guard. He’d never spoken or looked at her like that before, that look of pure warmth, no flirty undertone.
“Thank you. It’s one of my favorites, as well.” She was too startled by his expressed sincerity to maintain her detached, all-business persona. A sudden, irrational yearning washed over her, the desire to want more, share more, but she pushed the feelings down, sealing them under a tightly closed lid. “I’ve made a sketch of the room’s layout and put coordinating numbers in the squares where I’d like the staff to place each piece.” She angled the paper for him to view.
He blinked once, warmth dispersed, cool blue eyes back to normal. “I’ll see that it gets done.”
Master Me, Please
by BJ Wane
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Krista Matthews thought nothing could be harder than losing her husband and Master to suicide until the man he’d
entrusted her care to left her also. By the time Dr. Dax Hayes returned from an overseas, volunteer medical tour, she thought she was over his deflection and ready to re-immerse herself in the BDSM world she needed and missed so much without his help. One scene proved how wrong she was and after Master Dax’s timely rescue, she agrees to let him tutor her back into the lifestyle. She hadn’t counted on her growing feelings for the strict Dom or his refusal to take her over completely, like she craved.

Dr. Dax Hayes fell for Krista Matthews the minute he looked into her blue eyes and saw the sated, content look she shared with her husband, Dr. Kurt Matthews. He managed to keep his feelings and lust under control until his friend and colleague asked him to join him in gifting Krista with a menage for her birthday. Knowing it was a mistake, but unable to resist, Dax succumbs to the temptation of this one-time scene, never realizing where it would lead. A year later, after sealing his fate with a questionable act, he flees on a guilt trip only to return and discover nothing had changed-he still wanted Krista Matthews with an ache that wouldn’t be assuaged by anyone else.

Unable to resist stepping in when she gets herself in trouble, Dax again gives in to temptation and aids the one woman he can never have back into the lifestyle her submissive nature needed. When a vindictive woman tells Krista the truth, will her feelings be strong enough to forgive him, or did he gamble everything only to lose it all in the end?

DISCLAIMER: This book is intended for adults only. It contains elements of power exchange, BDSM, including explicit sexual scenes and anal play. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase this book.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for an Excerpt:
You had no trouble submitting to Master Dax.  That reminder got under Krista’s skin, and it didn’t help when she scanned the lot for her car and spotted Dax getting out of his.  The quick, startling stab of jealousy as she imagined him inside with someone else caught her off guard.  She’d never been plagued with that emotion before, why now?  She stood rooted in place and watched him walk straight toward her with purpose etched on his dark face instead of surprise at seeing her there.  Irritation bubbled over, eradicating her initial reaction.  Wasn’t it bad enough she couldn’t even bring herself to accept another Dom’s invitation tonight without the memory of last weekend intruding?  If he thought she’d turn around and join him in the club after the way he’d made it clear all week he wanted nothing to do with her, he had another think coming.  She may still crave dominance and thrive on submitting, but she wouldn’t be a doormat for any man to trample on.
“Fancy seeing you here, Doctor Hayes,” Krista greeted him, proud of the way she could set aside the warm flush spreading through her body with his nearness well enough to keep her voice steady.  She missed the easy rapport they shared before he left.
“I thought you realized how unsafe these clubs can be for a woman alone?”  The rebuke, stated in his deep, firm voice made her square her shoulders and curse the compulsion to sink to her knees in apology for displeasing him.  It was yet another sign she’d waited too long to get her act together.
“It was never a problem before, I mean, before I met Kurt,” she clarified so he’d know she’d played before her marriage.  “Enjoy your evening, Doctor.”
“Cut the crap, Krista,” Dax snapped, his frustration evident in the way he tunneled those long fingers through his ink-black hair and his green eyes glittered with that undefinable emotion she didn’t understand.
“I’m not the one who asked for a different surgeon to assist, Dr. Hayes.  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’d like to get home.”
“Wait.”  The hand he laid on her upper arm burned her skin, her automatic halt at his command heated her face and the ripple of longing going through her head left her deflated.  It seemed she couldn’t win with him.
“Let’s talk.  Are you familiar with Casey’s diner?”
The invitation took Krista by surprise and she sucked in a breath as hope dashed away the remnants of her annoyance with him.  If he wanted to be just friends, she’d take it.  It would be better than the cool indifference he’d shown her the past few days.  “Anyone who’s been out past 2:00 am on a weekend night has been to Casey’s.”  The all-night diner boasted the best pie on this side of Miami.
“Meet me there.  Please.”
Since he was making an effort, so would she, Krista decided.  What could it hurt?  “Okay.  See you there.”  Stepping around him, she hastened to her car before common sense told her she was making a mistake and setting herself up to get hurt again.  Since when did common sense have anything to do with her desires?
Intimate Journeys
by SS Hampton Sr
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The most intimate journeys, though they are polar opposites, involve the unparalleled pleasures of sex and the inevitable unknown of death. Both are an experience unlike anything else: one is sought by everyone, while the other is avoided by everyone - for as long as they can. Sometimes these polar opposites complement each other.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for an Excerpt:
 “The Samar Café,” Intimate Journeys
Wayne Parkhurst stumbled quietly across the darkened, thickly-carpeted bedroom into the bathroom, slid the door shut, and flipped the light on. He groaned and staggered as if from a hard punch as he covered his aching eyes with shaky hands until he could brave the scorching light.
He stared in the mirror at his bloodshot eyes, noted the ragged tufts of short, sandy-brown hair sticking in all directions from his pounding head, then he realized his stomach muscles ached, and his left shoulder was burning. His eyes widened as he saw a large, finely-detailed multi-colored tattoo of a dragon-prowed ship with sail unfurled on his upper left arm. Across the sail was a laughing skull with a pirate hat against a pair of crossed skeleton bones.
“My God, what have I done,” he whispered, though he had a pretty good idea of the night’s transgressions, as he stared at the tattoo and massaged his aching muscles. What would his parents think? Or his fiancée, Missy? Or her parents? What would all of his relatives and future relatives-in-law think?
“You really don’t remember?” a soft, cheerful voice called. In the mirror, Wayne saw a small, well-formed nude woman with delicate features and long black hair leaning nonchalantly against the doorway. Her arms were folded below large tanned breasts and her dark eyes sparkled mischievously…
Protecting Her Secret Son
by Regan Black
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Shannon Nolan thought she’d escaped a nightmare world of ruthless crime - until her son is kidnapped! With nowhere else to run and no one else to trust, she puts her life in the hands of her boss, firefighter Daniel Jennings.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for an Excerpt:
Her breath stuttered when she saw the gate swinging back and forth in the breeze, the latch broken. She pushed through, still shouting.
The yard was empty and far too quiet. The swings on the playset swayed listlessly, no boyish laughter spilled from the fort and the trucks in the sandbox were stalled out.
Aiden had raced to the playset when she’d dropped him off this morning while the sitter’s twin boys, a year older than Aiden, had been carving ruts in the sandbox with their dump trucks.
As she turned for the kitchen door, her heart leaped into her throat. The door had been forced open, the doorjamb a splintered mess above and below the lock. Her phone rang in her hand as she debated whether or not to call for help.
“Hello?”
“If you call the police, I’ll send the kid back to you in pieces,” a man said.
She blinked and turned her face to the sun in an effort to erase the terrifying images the rough, mean voice created.
“Mommy!”
Aiden’s voice carried over the line, bringing her a rush of relief along with the pain of knowing a stranger held her son hostage. “Let me talk to him,” she pleaded.
The call ended and quashed the last of Shannon’s hope. Aiden would not be inside the house.
The Boyfriend Swap by Meredith Schorr
Is Christmas really the most wonderful time of the year? New Yorkers Robyn Lane and Sidney Bellows aren’t so sure. Robyn has always dated struggling creative types. For once, her parents would love her to bring someone with health insurance and a 401(k) to their Chrismukkah celebration. Her actor boyfriend doesn’t qualify. While across town, Sidney’s professional life already belongs to her parents. She’s an attorney at her father’s law firm and she works tirelessly to keep her love life private. If she brings her lawyer boyfriend to their annual Christmas extravaganza, her parents will have the wedding planned by New Year’s Eve.
A mutual friend playfully suggests they trade boyfriends for the holidays. The women share a laugh, but after copious amounts of wine, decide The Boyfriend Swap could be the perfect solution. This way, Robyn can show off her stable attorney boyfriend and Sidney’s high-society family will take no interest in her flaky actor beau.
It’s a brilliant plan—in theory. In practice—not so much. When Will turns out to be the boy-next-door Robyn crushed on hard throughout her teenage years, and Sidney’s family fawns all over Perry like he’s an Oscar-winner rather than a D-list wannabe, one thing is certain: The Boyfriend Swap might just change their lives forever.
Now for an Excerpt:
When my mom stood up and brought her dishes to the sink, I allowed myself a small breath. Dinner was almost over. Once my parents retired to their rooms, they’d leave us alone for the rest of the night. Perry could watch television in his room or listen to his music collection. I wanted to call Will and see how things were going with Robyn.
My mom turned away from the sink. “I have an idea. It’s a Wonderful Life is on television tonight. How about the four of us watch it?”
“I’m sure Dad has work he needs to do tonight. Right?” I turned to my dad, certain he’d never choose an old movie over work.
He stroked his chin. “A two-hour break wouldn’t kill me.”
I gripped my wineglass like a vice. What was happening here? I brought home an artist whose resume wouldn’t even qualify him as an actor on the D-list, and not only was my mom encouraging our relationship, but my dad was willing to lose billable time to watch a movie with him—a film all of us had probably seen at least ten times. “I think the movie is three hours long. Besides, Perry has that script he needs to rehearse for an audition. Don’t you, hon?” I widened my eyes at Perry.
Perry nodded. “Cherry’s right.”
I smiled. Thank God.
“But it can wait until later.”
I was going to kill him in his sleep.
Duets and Dominance
Elizabeth “Lizzie” von Klepper has a problem of epic proportions—she’s the oldest virgin in the world. Invited to perform on Pleasure Island with her best friend Solomon, she devises a plan to seduce him, and rid herself of that infernal status. After all, they shared a mind-blowing kiss a year ago and that has to count for something, right?
Solomon Ventura adores Lizzie. She’s been his best friend since their humble beginnings at Julliard, but deep down he’s yearned for her. For more. And ever since he tasted her, a stolen kiss he hasn’t been able to forget, he cannot seem to stop his mind from conjuring up myriad fantasies with Lizzie in the starring role. But he’s not the man for her. She’s light where he is dark, and his brand of love would shatter the only woman he’s ever cared about.
Will the best friends move their relationship out of the friendzone? Or will a week spent on pleasure island destroy them both?
Now for an Excerpt:
This place would be good for him. He already planned to stay past their performance week. If he had to fuck his way through the sub pool on the island—as well as any single subs who visited—to thoroughly evict Lizzie from his lustful thoughts and put her back squarely in the friend column, then that was what he was going to do.
The private balcony off his room had a clear view of the ocean. The waves undulated, an endless movement of shimmering turquoise and cobalt. Sol inhaled a few steadying breaths. Lizzie wasn’t for him. She was too pure, too sweet, and just too good for a man like him.
But Christ did she look good, better even than when he’d seen her in Scotland.
Lizzie was the type of woman suited to candlelight and gentle lovemaking. Sol wasn’t that kind of man, never had been. It wasn’t that he wasn’t a good man, he just wasn’t good for her. She wouldn’t survive his brand of love, and Solomon couldn’t be satisfied without being a Dominant.
That didn’t mean he’d forget that one stolen kiss. Far from it. One touch, a simple brushing of lips, and every part of his being had stampeded to the forefront, eager to stake its claim. That Lizzie belonged to him.
If only that were true.
They were friends. It was better that way. She deserved better. Were he to turn the full brunt of his desires in her direction, she’d run screaming into the night. As she should, because a good girl shouldn’t tangle with the big bad wolf. His brand of dominance would leave her shattered. Solomon must have control, otherwise it put him on a slippery slope toward utter ruin.
And he’d never be able to live with himself if he destroyed such perfection.
