by Dianne Hartsock

Betrayed by a lover, Jamie rents an isolated cabin on Lake Huron, wanting only to be left alone.
Instead, he is pulled from his solitary existence as an artist and tumbles headlong into the legend of Saint Nicolas.

As a young man, Nicolas accidentally killed a man intent on murdering three children, only to have the man’s malicious spirit rise up against him. Fleeing through the centuries from the Krampus, the evil troll-like creature that dogs his steps, Nico finds refuge with the young artist who takes him into his home and bed. But Jamie has questions. Who is Nicolas, and why does the Krampus want to destroy him?

When the Krampus begins to torment and torture anyone Nico comes in contact with to punish him, Jamie’s life is put in danger. And Jamie isn’t sure whether he can help Nico defeat his nemesis or if he’s merely a pawn in the Krampus’s game.

Now for an excerpt:

Jamie woke with reluctance, not wanting to climb from the warm limbo he found himself in, feeling safe, secure. Arms pulled him a little closer, and he snuggled against the firm chest, resting his ear over the strongly beating heart. He wanted to stay there forever, but it soon grew stifling under the blanket; he pulled the edge down and blinked at the warm hazel eyes meeting his gaze. Who was this?

The stranger smiled and a hand crept out of the blanket, fingers brushing Jamie’s lips. “Angelo mio.”

What…. Memory surfaced, and he pulled back a little, face heating when he realized they were both almost naked, the guy lean and strong and… hard, against him. Feeling out of his depth with the man he slid further back, and fell off the edge of the couch onto his tailbone.

“Fuck. That was graceful,” he muttered, embarrassed. He knelt and rubbed his sore back, not looking up until the man chuckled. Expecting ridicule, the concern and warm light in his guest’s eyes tugged at his heart.

“Are you all right? Sounded like you landed pretty hard,” the man asked with sympathy.

“I’m fine.” Jamie grabbed his jeans from last night and pulled them on, feeling more comfortable after he’d tugged his sweater over his head. He turned back and caught the guy’s enticing lips twitching with a smile. Blushing, he laughed at his own nervousness. “Sorry. I don’t usually wake up naked with strange men in my bed.”

The man leaned up on an elbow, looking interested. “Do you usually wake up with strange men?”

“No!” Catching the glint of amusement in his eyes, Jamie laughed again. “Okay, enough teasing. At least tell me your name so I know what to call you.”

“I’m Nico De Mira.” He reached out a hand. “And you are….”

“Jamie Brannen.” They shook, Jamie enjoying the roughness of the man’s palm in his own softer hand.

“Thank you for saving me.” Nico turned Jamie’s hand over and stroked a thumb over his wrist, adding under his breath, “Tesoro mio.”

Jamie’s lips parted, but he lost his nerve to ask what he meant when Nico let go of his hand. Then concern swept him when his guest covered his mouth on a deep, wet sounding cough. The cough continued and Jamie dropped to the couch beside him, helping him sit up. The man seemed breathless when it at last subsided.

“Are you okay? Let me get you some water.” Jamie trotted to the kitchen. God, that cough sounded bad. Bronchitis, pneumonia, some kind of infection? Grabbing bottled water from the refrigerator, he returned to the couch and tried not to stare at his guest. The blanket had slipped off Nico’s shoulders, revealing a sculpted chest and arms; not blatantly muscular, but Jamie would enjoy putting his lips on them. It took determination not to drop to his knees and run his hands over that sleek Mediterranean body, feel the sparse, dark curls adorning the man’s chest under his fingertips.

About the Author:

Dianne grew up in one of the older homes in the middle of Los Angeles, a place of hardwood floors and secret closets and
back staircases. A house where ghosts lurk in the basement and the faces in the paintings watch you walk up the front stairs. Rooms where you keep the closet doors closed tight at night. It’s where her love of the mysterious and wonderful came from. Dianne is the author of paranormal/suspense, fantasy adventure, m/m romance, and anything else that comes to mind.

She now lives in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon with her incredibly patient husband, who puts up with the endless hours she spends hunched over the keyboard letting her characters play. Dianne says Oregon’s raindrops are the perfect setting in which to write. There’s something about being cooped up in the house with a fire crackling on the hearth and a cup of hot coffee in her hands, which kindles her imagination.

Currently, Dianne works as a floral designer in a locally-owned gift shop. Which is the perfect job for her. When not writing, she can express herself through the rich colors and textures of flowers and foliage.

Angles – Part 1
by Erin Lockwood

This story is about friendship and relationship triangles, love and protection, love and understanding, and love and true love.

Now for an excerpt:

His hand slides up my nape and grips the back of my head, my hair getting twisted and knotted in his fingers. My mouth instinctively parts. I’m kissing his breath with mine. Our air is touching; his eyes are touching me. Everything is so close and tangled … except our lips.

Why isn’t he kissing me? His hands are holding me strong and tense, his muscles clenching around my body. His gaze is seducing my insides. He’s waiting. Making sure I’m ready for him.

I am. I’m so ready.

I dive into his mouth, as if it’s my next breath

About the Author:

Erin Lockwood grew up in Castro Valley, California, and attended the University of Oregon where she graduated with a degree in journalism in 2003. From there, she moved to Denver, Colorado, and spent the next seven years searching for the love of
her life and building the family of her dreams.

It wasn’t long until, with children starting preschool and more time on her hands, Erin refocused on her career, beginning with a successful entry into the world of residential real estate as a realtor. Free time was spent reading book after book—and binge-watching the subsequent films—in the New Adult genre. Hopelessly in love with her husband, she wrote him a short story for their fifth wedding anniversary. That’s when she discovered her tireless passion to share her experience of falling in love through fictional characters. That story evolved into the first novel in the Angles Trilogy.

Erin still lives in Denver with her husband, Phil, and their three children. They spend most of their summers and holidays on the beautiful island of Coronado where Erin and Phil wish to retire someday.

Mail Order Angel
by Mandy Colton

Fun characters, humor, drama, and heartwarming moments…

Heartbreaking loss strikes two people living happy and carefree lives in polar opposite places of the North American map. Young and adventurous, Lance Colburn left home years ago and worked his way north to Alaska, eventually settling in Nome. After building a successful business, he’s still a very content bachelor, living in a brand new home he constructed himself. Life couldn’t get much better…until the worst news a single guy could get finds him after a family member is stricken with a fatal illness. He learns that his simple—and slightly selfish—existence is about to get flipped upside down and crowded. Worst of all, he’s going to need a specific kind of help that can’t be found in Nome.

Having lived a happy and sheltered life with her parents in Boston, Massachusetts, Angel McBride is about to become an adult and spread her wings. While taking a summer vacation in Europe with her friends before starting college, tragedy strikes at home. After returning, she is shocked to find that her life has already drastically changed and is about to get worse. She needs an escape plan—and quickly.

With little time and no other choices at hand, both Lance and Angel come up with the same ridiculous idea at the same time: Marriage to a stranger.

But neither are prepared or quite mature enough to handle the big leap. Can they overcome her deception and his wily ways to find true happiness?

Now for an excerpt:

The next morning, Lance knocked on Anna’s bedroom door and walked in. Out of the closet, he pulled the pretty off-white dress and heels that he’d picked for her and told her to get ready. When she’d dressed and walked into the living room and saw him wearing a suit, she knew immediately where they were going. Today was her fake wedding day. His eyes slowly moved over her, becoming a shade darker, his lids heavier. No words were needed to describe what she saw there on his handsome face. She’d dated enough boys and read enough smarmy romance novels to know that what she was seeing in his eyes was desire. Well, she could ditto that look. Sweet baby Jesus, did he make a suit look good.

He smiled and stuck his hand out for her to take. Guess they really were doing this. Okay. It wouldn’t be real. It would not be real. Angel placed her hand in his big warm one and it felt sooo good, it set her whole arm to tingling. Then out the door they went. To get fake married, Angel. Don’t slobber and stop mooning over the guy.

There was only the two of them and two witnesses present at the ceremony. It was a couple who were obviously friends of Lance’s. He’d muttered their names to her, and the Justice of the Peace went right to it. He spoke some words, told her and Lance what to repeat, she sputtered over her lines on purpose, and it was quickly over. Lance slipped a plain, cold gold band on her finger and pecked her on the cheek. He shook hands with the Justice guy and his friend. Some legal papers were signed by all parties, and that was that. Married. Not too awkward or terribly painful.

As soon as Angel had that last thought, out of the corner of her eye, she saw the woman with Lance’s friend moving closer toward her. The woman opened her mouth to speak, and Angel was about to shake her head, to let her know that she couldn’t speak the language, when the woman let go a string of words that shocked her when they hit her ears. Flat left her dumbstruck and, seconds later, feeling nauseous. It wasn’t what she’d said; it was the fact that Angel had no frigging idea what she’d said. She was pretty sure the words were in Russian.

Aww, come on! Of all the bum luck. She seemed to be loaded with it now.

This just couldn’t be happening. A surge of bile started rushing straight up the pipeline, and she grabbed her stomach and pitched forward. The other woman grabbed her hand and pulled her along fast down a nearby hallway and pushed her through a door. Ah…a restroom. Goody. Sometimes you didn’t need words. Everybody understands the look of an urp coming. Angel barely had time to raise the toilet lid before she was throwing up. Not much came up, because thankfully, they hadn’t eaten breakfast yet.

Angel rinsed her mouth out with water and looked in the mirror. What was she going to do now? She just stood there, rattled and shaking, until there was a knock.

When she cracked the door open, Lance was standing there looking concerned. “Anna? You okay?”

No. Definitely not. She shook her head.

He said, “Oh. We were all going to have lunch, but we can go home instead.”

She nodded. “Yes. Home. Please,” she stuttered, begging with her eyes.

Behind him, the man and woman stood, and the woman placed her hand on Lance’s arm, as if to get his attention. Angel felt another wave coming and shut the door in Lance’s face, locking it. She heaved again. Poor Lance was rapping on the door and calling to her, sounding really concerned, and then she heard the other man’s voice whispering.

“You need to take her to the doctor, friend. Right now. These women arrive in all kinds of states. They can be sick, pregnant, have venereal diseases—even AIDS. Sorry to bust your bubble, but it’s been known to happen.”

Angel heard what sounded like a growly hiss. “You could have fucking told me this before I married her, Raymond!”

“Sorry pal. She sounds real sick in there, and I’m just sayin’…”

“Yeah? Well, thanks for nothin’. Pal!”

Oh. How. Embarrassing.

The rapping on the door became more insistent. When she opened it this time, Lance reached around, snatched her hand, and pulled her out, practically dragging her down the hallway. He put her in his truck and buckled her in, jumped in, and spun out of the parking lot like a mad man on a mission. He pulled out his phone. “Doc, need to see you right away.”

She heard a man’s voice say something on the other end, and Lance erupted. “Tell Earl to sleep it off somewhere else. This is an emergency, goddammit!”

About the Author:

Mandy Colton is from Louisville, KY, and lives a very quiet life with her husband and teenage son. A fan of romance, fun
adventure, drama, humor, and on occasion, sci-fi stories. Her first book, Way to Go, and the continuing series came from her years, own adventures and experiences working in the travel industry.
Although she’s a great fan of the human imagination, she is also of the opinion that there are just no better stories than those that involve a bit of true life.

Book Blast ~ Angel Boy by Annalisa Russo

You'll want to follow the tour and comment. Why? The more you comment, the better your chances of winning. Angel Boy
by Annalisa Russo

Private Investigator Meg Cavelli wonders why her traitorous family has trotted out the fatted calf for
Seth Truitt, the boy who left her flat eight years ago. Now he’s back, sexier than she remembers, and needs her help. How can Meg accept Seth’s no-strings-attached deal in return for bringing a deranged predator to justice, when their steamy attraction to each other might very well get in the way?

Army Air Corps pilot Seth Truitt needs help to erase his dark-stained past, but soon realizes helping Meg Cavelli solve a dogged criminal case in return for salvaging his military career might be more dangerous than flying P-26 fighters for USAAC. But since Seth has no intention of letting Meg go again, he’ll stop at nothing to keep her safe from the twisted, unnatural threat they dubbed “the monster” as kids.

As the mystery unfolds, joining their minds and hearts might be the only way to stay alive.

And now for an Excerpt:

Well, fan my brow. He was back.

Margaret Cavelli strode to the back door of her small house on Green Street and yanked the door open. Miraculously, she’d gotten out of Bellaluna before she ran smack dab into him. The moron hadn’t had the decency to call or write her in eight years and there he was. Just sashayed back all ginned up in his fancy uniform and thought that was A-Okay. Well, he had another think coming.

She slammed down the book on poisons on her tiny kitchen table, shrugged out of her woolen pea coat, and hung it on the hook next to the door. Luckily, she’d spotted Seth from her old bedroom window at Bellaluna when his taxi pulled up. She made sure he didn’t see her and then snuck down the old servants’ staircase to get to her Coupe while Gwen gave him the feed in the kitchen.

A free meal—and probably his old room back if she knew her father. All the hoo-ha for the prodigal son’s return? Uh-uh. He wouldn’t get squat from her. And if they tried to force her to be nice to him—she’d eighty-six that idea. He could take a powder—again—for all she cared. She wasn’t the forgiving type.

At least, not in this lifetime.

She grabbed the book of poisons and climbed the stairs to her home office and her murder board.
