Reading His Submissive by Brandi Evans

Raven:
I’ve spent my life depending on one person: myself. I’ve learned the hard way other people will only let me down. I’ve worked for everything I have, but thanks to my drug-addicted mother, I’m about to lose the one thing I’ve craved for years. Needing to make some extra cash, I ask my boss at Restrained Fantasies, a Dallas BDSM club, for some extra shifts. Much to my chagrin, Master Carter Burkes is with him, and Carter leaps to my rescue, bound and determined to save me—only I’m not the kind of girl who needs to be saved.

Carter:
I can’t sit by while Raven, a recurring figure in my fantasies, is in trouble. My job as a detective keeps me busy, but I’m not looking for a relationship, just a sub to assist with a class I’m teaching: Reading Your Submissive. Raven always claimed she wasn’t a member of the lifestyle, so imagine my surprise when I discover a budding submissive inside her. She gets under my skin in ways I can’t fight, but emotions are dangerous. I learned that the hard way. Is getting close to Raven a mistake? Will I destroy her life like I destroyed the life of the only woman I’ve ever loved?

This is book two in the Restrained Fantasies series but can be read as a standalone.

Publisher’s Note: This romance is intended for adults only. It contains elements of danger, suspense, mystery, BDSM, sensual scenes, romance and adult language. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase.

And now for an Excerpt:

Carter did a double-take.

Raven stepped into the dungeon anxious out of her mind. She stood with her arms crossed, her spine as rigid as the stone walls surrounding them. She was fidgety too, both hands and feet, as if she were fighting the urge to run, and her soulful eyes were dark, pupils wide, and swimming with fear. None of her anxiety, however, affected him more potently than the sight of her decked out in full bondage gear.

Be still his throbbing dick.

A blood-red corset wrapped her torso, accentuating her curvy figure and lifting her breasts to a point where they commanded absolute respect and undivided attention. On her feet, she wore a pair of black combat boots with a flair of decoration; sexy leather-and-rivet straps wrapped the ankle. Talk about submissive perfection.

It was the parts between the corset and the boots, however, which drove him to the outer edges of sanity. A cutoff jean skirt showed off thick, powerful legs wrapped in wide fishnet stockings. The ensemble played with his mind, and the black four-poster bed behind her only added to the picture.

She was a fucking powerhouse. What would those strong legs feel like locked around his waist as he rammed into her? The mere thought had his cock swelling to full attention behind the zipper of his leathers.

This would be an agonizingly long class.

Adjusting himself before taking a step, his boots soft against the tile floor, Carter went to her. “Wow. Just… wow. You look positively edible.”

A smile broke through her obvious discomfort. “Thanks. Viv took me shopping. I wasn’t sure I could pull this off, but she insisted.”

“And I’m so very glad she did.” He made a twirl-for-me motion with his index finger. “Turn. I want to see the back.”

She hesitated a few heartbeats before complying, and he had to bite his lower lip to keep from groaning. He’d always admired her ass when she’d been behind the relative safety of the bar. He’d ordered many a drink for the sole purpose of making her squat and stretch to reach seldom-used bottles of alcohol, putting her round ass on full display, but now, no bar stood between them, just a small swath of skin-tight denim.

“I’m going to touch you,” he said matter-of-factly as he stepped around her and stood toe-to-toe. “Before anyone gets here, so you can, at least, feel a little more comfortable with me and your role in class.”

Yeah, comfort was the reason he wanted to touch her.

The Marquis and I by by Ella Quinn

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trouble is no match for a lady of the extended Worthington family—except when it comes in the form of a most irresistible gentleman . . .
Lady Charlotte Carpenter’s brother-in-law has put an infamous brothel owner out of business—yet it is Charlotte who suffers the consequences. Abducted by thugs and held at an inn, she is plotting her escape when she’s suddenly rescued by a dashing gentleman. Only afterward does she realize she’s seen him before—with two courtesans! Unwilling to tarry with such a man, Charlotte makes her second escape. But it is too late to repair her reputation . . .
A known gossip has spied Charlotte’s movements, and his report is speeding through the rumor mill. Soon, everyone knows that Charlotte spent the night with Constantine, Marquis of Kenilworth. And everyone agrees the only answer is marriage—including Constantine himself, his overjoyed mother—and his mistress! But Charlotte’s abductors aren’t finished with her yet. Now Constantine will do anything to protect the spirited woman he loves and win her heart . . .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And now for an Excerpt:

Wife? Wed? No, no, no! Being betrothed was bad enough. But she could get out of that. But married! Lord Kenilworth was the last man in the world she would wed. Just the idea that he would touch her with the same hands he used to mistreat other women made her stomach lurch.

Charlotte quickly shoved the memory of his kiss aside. If she had known who he was, she would never have kissed him.

Taking a deep breath, she said with as firm a voice as she could muster, “Despite what his lordship said, I do not wish to marry him. There must be a way to—”

“That is neither here nor there, my dear.” Lady Bellamny waved away Charlotte’s complaint in a voice so composed it made her want to slaughter someone. Preferably Lord Kenilworth. “I stopped by Stanwood House to inform your sister I intended to be out of Town for a few days. Instead, I found your cousin Jane, Mrs. Addison. Knowing that I am a trustworthy friend of the family, she told me what had occurred. Unless I am mistaken, you were with Lord Kenilworth at least overnight, and you were seen entering the inn with him.” She raised a brow. “In a rather disheveled state.”

Charlotte decided to ignore her creased, dusty gown, and address the most important issue. “I did not exactly spend the night with him.” Not all night and, technically, she had entered the inn first. “He followed me into the inn. I—”

“Close enough, my lady.” His tone was as dry as sand. “We were seen together walking toward this place, and I held the door open for you.”

“I thought they’d never let us leave.” Kyler opened the truck door, then plopped his gear back in the truck bed. “Said the Tigers roster came alive and I’ve got to change up my pitches for tomorrow.” He slid into the seat beside Jake. “Do you think my fastball is getting better? I thought it was my best pitch.”
“You could put more thrust behind it, but it’s still hard for most hitters to gauge. I wouldn’t worry about it.” Jake put the truck in gear and rolled through the lot. “Are you coming over tonight? Ventana put new music on the web and I downloaded them. We could have our own listening party.” Jake kept his gaze on the church across the street from the school. If he looked over at Ky, he’d say something he’d regret. Please come over. Celebrate with me tomorrow. I love you. Shit.
“Take me home. I’ve got a couple things to do.”
No emotion in his voice, just flat words. Jake swallowed his pride and sped across town toward Ky’s house. Within a few minutes he pulled into the driveway and parked.
“Thanks for the lift. I’m working on my car this weekend. I should have the tranny fixed in time for prom.” Kyler gripped the door handle, but didn’t get out of the truck. He stared at Jake for a long time, then leaned over and kissed him on the lips. “I’ve wanted to do that all day.” Ky winked and got out of the truck.
Jake sank down in his seat and blew out a long breath. Screw it. He’d either have a friend when he finished or he’d be alone. Either way he’d feel better for saying what needed to be said. He opened his door and jogged after Ky.
“Hey.” Kyler grinned. “Can’t get enough of me?”
“No, I can’t.” He grabbed the front of Kyler’s shirt and kissed him. Kyler didn’t pull away, didn’t push, just continued the kiss. Ky opened to him, tangling their tongues and swallowing Jake’s moan. Tingles shot through Jake’s brain and heat settled low in his belly. His cock thickened behind his jogging shorts, and he pressed his groin to Ky’s. He expected no reaction. Ky smoothed his hands over Jake’s ass, pushing their cocks together in a delicious friction. For the first time, he wanted more than a simple blow job. More than a hand job. He wanted the feeling of Kyler’s cock in his ass, connecting them.
When Kyler finally broke the kiss, he panted and brilliant pink streaked across his cheeks. “Wow.”
Jake gathered his courage. “Ky, I like you. You’re my best friend and I’m sure this will fuck everything up, but I want you.” There. He’d poured out most of his heart for Kyler to accept or reject.

First Impressions
by Jay Hogan

Michael:

Two years ago I made a mistake, a big one, and then I threw in another couple just for good measure. I screwed up my life big time but I made it through. I was lucky.

Then I was given the opportunity for a fresh start. Two years in Auckland, NZ, ‘The City of Sails’. Away from the LA gossip, a chance to breathe, to get my life back together.
I grabbed it and packed my new set of golden rules with me.

I don’t do relationships.
I don’t do commitment.
I don’t do white picket fences.

And I especially don’t do arrogant, holier-than-thou, smoking hot K9 officers who walk into my ER and rock my world.

Josh:
The only thing I know for certain about Dr. Michael Oliver is the guy is an arrogant, untrustworthy player, and I’d barely survived the last one of those in my life. Once was more than enough.
The man might be gorgeous but my eleven-year-old daughter takes number one priority and I won’t risk her being hurt, again. I’m a solo dad, a K9 cop and a son to pain in the ass, bigoted parents.

I don’t have time for games.
I don’t have time for taking chances.
I don’t have time for more complications in my life.

And I sure as hell don’t have time for the infuriating Dr. Michael Oliver, however damn sexy he is.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for an Excerpt:
Josh was fuming. Fast pitch was one of the few activities he got to enjoy on his own and now he had to put up with Michael freaking Oliver. Arriving at Kendrick’s he’d immediately collared Mark at the bar as the guy was buying a round.
“What the hell, man? Whose idea was it to invite him?”
His friend plastered a huge grin on his face and held up his hands in surrender. “Nothing to do with me, mate. Boss man just asked me to deliver him.”
“And you couldn’t think of any reason that wouldn’t be a good idea?”
“What was I going to say?” Mark studied his friend. “And honestly, he seems a good guy and he plays a solid game.”
“I don’t give a flying fuck if he plays like Nathan Nukunuku, he’s an asshole.”
“Funny, that’s what he called you.”
“Wait. He called me an asshole?”
Mark snorted. “Lighten up, Josh. Anyone would think you actually liked the guy.”
“Fuck off.”
Mark whacked him on the back of his head.
“Ow,” Josh protested.
“Suck it up. You deserved it. So, the guy was cruising, so what? Oh. My. God. What a scandal. And he even got lucky with a gorgeous young man, well good for him. It’s not a crime. And besides, he’s hot. And he hit on you. I would think that was reassuring, that you haven’t lost it. You’re both obviously hot for each other.”
“I’m a father of an eleven-year-old girl.”
“And that came with getting your dick cut off, did it?”
“You wouldn’t understand,” Josh dismissed the comment.
“You really think I’ll win?”
Natalie gave him an incredulous look. “You know I do.”
“I’m asking your opinion as a serious sports analyst and not my girlfriend.”
“Oh, well, if you’re asking me to be a serious sports analyst, then no, you have absolutely no chance,” Natalie joked. “You do know why Davis is called ‘The Machine’, don’t you?”
Nate pretended to look thoughtful. “Um, because he’s in good shape?”
“I’m afraid not, sweetie.” Natalie shook her head as she gave him a pitying look. “It’s because when he goes on the offensive, he unleashes one punch after the other until he takes his opponent out. Punches in bunches.”
Nate laughed. “Punches in bunches, is that the Dr. Seuss school of commentary?”
“Yes, it is. I actually took a class on it last semester.”
“I’m guessing you passed.”
“I got an A without even trying and I’m not lying. I’m good at school. I think it’s cool. No matter the class, I always pass.”
Nate was laughing so hard, he couldn’t catch his breath while Natalie sat across from him wearing a smug grin. Damn, this girl was perfect.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now for an Excerpt:

He held his hand out to me. When I didn’t immediately take it, he wiggled his fingers. I relented and put my hand in his as I followed him onto the trail.

“Why are your hands calloused?” I asked.

“I use them a lot,” he explained. “I do projects at the apartment complex, help out some buddies working to renovate other buildings, stuff like that.”

“Figures.”

“Some women find a man that works with his hands to be sexy,” he said, rubbing his thumb along the inside of my wrist.

“And some women find a man in a suit sexy,” I retorted.

“Hmm. I bet I can guess which one you are, Candie.”

“Why do you call me Candie?”

“I like it. It suits you. And I like that I’m the only one who calls you that.”

“You’re not.”

He stopped on the path and cocked his head at me. “I’m not?”

“No. My dad calls me that. When you first did it, I thought maybe you knew him.”

“Hmm. Maybe I should stop then.”

For reasons I would probably never comprehend, I didn’t want him to. “Why?”

Suddenly, Jack pulled me into his arms and moved us both off the trail until my back was up against a giant tree. My head spun as I looked up at him, my breath shallow, my eyes wide.

“I don’t want you to think about your dad when you’re with me,” he said, lowering his head.

I put my hands on either side of his face. He was freshly shaven today, and his skin was deliciously smooth. “I don’t,” I told him.

Read an Excerpt:

Rohan parked, cut the engine, and turned to me, his eyes hot. “Know what else I don’t like?”

I licked my lips, remembered that wasn’t an answer and shook my head.

“Making me sit through dinner, watching you in that dress. Cruel.”

“You’ve been copping feels all the way home.

“It’s not enough.”

I snickered, but when he slammed his precious car’s door in his haste to get me inside, I may have set a new record for speed-walking in heels.

We barely made it into his bedroom before, mouth on mine, he pressed me back against the wall. His teeth dragged over my lower lip before his tongue slipped inside. He trailed his magic finger blades over my shoulder and bare back, just enough to leave faint marks that I’d shiver staring at in the bathroom mirror later.

Sliding my hand under his shirt, I skimmed my fingers along the ridges of his sculpted abs. He retracted his blades and I broke the kiss to draw his fingers into my mouth, my tongue swirling around each one in turn. Pinching his nipples with my other hand, I rubbed my bare thigh up his leg. His sigh rumbled over me.

A furious ache built to a throbbing pulse inside me.

Rohan sucked on my neck and I tilted my head to give him better access to the sensitive skin. He caressed my cheek with the back of his hand, pinning me with this filthy eye-fuck that made my stomach flutter. “Wrap your legs around me.”

“Me either.” Tristan blew out a long breath. “Why don’t we go down to the diner? I’m starving and…why not?”“Sure.” He eyeballed Tristan. The guy wasn’t asking him to come home with him. Just a meal together. Why did this feel like more? Because he wanted more? Christ, he hadn’t gone out with anyone since Barry and even then, the connection wasn’t strong. He stood and stretched, then settled next to Tristan. He could be crazy, but he’d like to find out more about Tristan.Tristan remained beside Michael as they walked to the diner. “It’s Valentine’s Day. What’s on your docket?”
“I’m not sure. Aydin said something about a plan and celebration. I’m the lousy boyfriend this time. I hadn’t gotten him anything and was going to on the way home.” The tips of his ears burned. “I was so worried about the review, I kind of forgot it was Valentine’s Day.”
“You forgot?” she blurted.
“I did.” He walked beside her. “I was going to get him flowers.”
“Flowers?” She stopped in her tracks. “Are you serious?”
“He likes them.”
“Not chocolates?”
“He doesn’t like them. I thought he did, but he just ate the ones I got him for Christmas because he didn’t want them to go to waste.” When she started walking again, he fell into step beside her. “I know what he likes—now.”
“Flowers, eh?” She laughed. “And what else? Some hey-hey?” She elbowed him. “Right?”
He wasn’t about to tell her the other gift would be a blow job.
“Well, good.” She stopped at the classroom door. “I hope you have a good night.” She poked her head into the classroom. “Bye, Aydin. Have a wicked hot night.”
“That’s the plan.” Aydin left his spot on the desk and picked up the portfolio. “Ready?”
Heat slid through Brandon’s body. He couldn’t wait to get home. He’d strip Aydin down and taste every inch of him. “Yeah.”
“Good. Let’s go. I drove, so we can blow this popsicle stand.” Aydin carried the case out of the room. “Goodnight, Georgie. Do you need us to walk you out?”
“Nah, I’m meeting my friend Durand upstairs.” She waved. “Night! Do all the things I can’t do but want to watch.”
“We will,” Aydin called.
Brandon stood rooted to the spot for a second. Do all the things I can’t do but want to watch…holy shit. And Aydin hadn’t batted an eye. Damn. Excitement radiated through Brandon. He had the guy, the grade, and good friends. Now, he’d have a hot Valentine’s Day. Fucking sweet, indeed.
