Blurb Blitz ~ The Jug and the Hare Bathhouse by Graham Williams

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Graham Williams will be awarding $25 Amazon/BN GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

The book deals with a timeless subject, which is as relevant today as it was at the time of King James – the abduction and sexual abuse of children. It is handled sensitively and a distinction is drawn between same-sex, loving partnerships and the cruel use of children bought and sold for the sexual gratification of often wealthy “clientele”.

The story and plot are exciting and well-balanced, with the right amount of tension to make you want to keep on reading. There is a real sense of being in London in the reign of King James and an atmospheric feeling about the taverns, shops and streets as well as the bathhouse itself, all linked to the river Thames and famous theatres of the time. The characters are great and very believable and the action scenes well-written and full of high adventure. It also comes to an uplifting and optimistic conclusion, with some surprising and joyful twists.

About the Author:
Being retired, I have the time now to write and tell stories. I am registered as blind, and I am profoundly dyslexic, and I rely on the wonders of technology to bring out my stories, and to live. I spend many hours walking around London, as this is where I find most of my inspiration from. The places; sounds and smells of the city, I have a love for. To know one's history is to know one's self. I hope you enjoy them.

Book Blast ~ Stormed by Paula Quinene

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Paula Quinene will award a randomly drawn winner a $15 Amazon/BN GC. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

A medical doctor educated in the United States, passionate and fierce Liz Taimanglo must now fulfill her promise and return to her island home. Liz makes the long flight across the US and the North Pacific Ocean to Guam, uncertain of what her future holds. Heading into the epicenter of her family and prime typhoon season for the Mariana Islands chain, the disquiet of her heart threatens to do more damage than any typhoon might inflict on Guam. Little does Liz know, the man featured in the newspaper would indeed unleash delicious torment rivaling even a Category 5 super typhoon.

Manny Artero is adamant about fighting for his island, his culture, and the rights of Guam’s Chamorro people, after having been fired from his teaching job. That is, until Liz walks up to him with her machete-wielding eyes and her undying respect for the American military. Manny had vowed never to risk his heart again and to become a more vocal activist, but this woman threatens to challenge all his intentions about love and life on Guam. Brushing off the safer choice, he plots a series of surprises to change her mind.

For Liz, becoming a doctor of medicine was supposed to be the right path, but her universe imploded when her training failed to save the life of the most important person in her world. Though a former US Marine, Manny could no longer accept the loss of land, rights, and freedom that Chamorros continue to suffer in their own homeland. Helpless against the strengthening attraction between them, Liz and Manny must face not only their opposing political views, but the storms stirring in their hearts and the very land upon which they stand.

Read an Excerpt

Liz stood still, blindfolded. Rearranging furniture? We haven’t gone in the house yet. Water tumbled against rock perhaps, not too far from her. The striking of a match. A whiff of smoke brushed by her nose. Soft music filled the air, but Liz couldn’t make out the words because she was on edge. His surprise must be out here.

“Almost done.”

She bit her lip and swayed side to side. I might regurgitate my lunch if he doesn’t hurry up. The sun had already set so whatever he was planning, he needed to be quick. “You have about killed me with all this secrecy.” After another minute, Liz felt Manny standing behind her.

“I hope you’ll think it was worth it. Ready?”

“Very.” Liz bit her bottom lip.

“Ai, nangga hit. Wait sa’ I need to close the light.”

Oh my God I’m going to burst. It took a moment for Manny to return to her side. Liz shivered even though it wasn’t cold. It was warmer where she stood. Wood crackled. A stronger scent of burning tÃ¥ngantÃ¥ngan wood filled the air. If she bit her bottom lip any harder her teeth would puncture the gum.

The blindfold fell away. She opened her eyes and her jaw hung open; not a word came out. Liz looked at Manny then back at the firepit in front of her, a low orange flame dancing. The sound of cascading water caught her attention again. A small statue of Sirena, Guam’s mermaid, sat atop a rock. It was set off to the far-right corner with water flowing around her in a waterscape. Liz looked up. Only dusk hung over them.

Book Blast ~ When Loves Calls You Home by Donna Simonetta

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Donna will award a $25 Amazon/BN gift card to a randomly drawn commenter. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Stephanie Williams left skid marks on the road out of Willow Springs, Vermont after she finished high school. She didn't return until her company sent her to evaluate the town for a massive development project. Back then she thought the town was way too small and too cold. Now the cold isn't as much of an issue since she's reconnected with her childhood friend, Donald Flanagan. Stephanie doesn't remember his eyes being quite so green, or his body quite so built. He's smart and funny as he ever was, and a forest-fire sized attraction burns between them.

Donald never understood his old friend's driving need to leave Willow Springs. He loves everything about it. When he learns the truth about Stephanie's project, and how it will turn his hometown into a theme-park version of itself, will it extinguish the flame that has sparked between them?

Read an Excerpt

Whenever she was ready. That was a joke. Stephanie wasn’t sure she’d ever be ready. She stood at the door to his apartment and crinkled the white paper bag she held in one hand and swiped her other hand’s sweaty palm on her white jeans. It had been years since she’d been this nervous about eating dinner with a man, and it was dinner with Donald Flanagan, for God’s sake! Her nerdy, childhood friend. There was no reason to be nervous with him. Except, he’d grown up and filled out, and was one fine looking man now, in addition to still being the smart, funny, nice guy he had always been. As a matter of fact, he’d become the perfect man. Not to mention, somewhere along the way he’d learned to kiss like an alpha male dream––all in control and powerful––Stephanie grew weak in the knees at just the memory of their kiss last night in Finnigan’s parking lot.

About the Author:
Donna Simonetta writes the kind of books she loves to read--contemporary romances filled with heart, heat, and humor, like the books of her favorite romance writers, Susan Mallery and Jill Shalvis. A Sweeter Spot is the first book in the Rivers Bend trilogy, which is set in a fictional small town, populated by quirky characters. But if you prefer a big city setting and a little fantasy mixed in with your romance, try Angels Fly. A heartwarming story, set in beautiful San Diego, about getting a second-chance with your first love, with a little help from some unlikely guardian angels.

Writing is Donna's third career. She has worked in the business world, which she decided wasn't for her. So she went back to school to get her MLS degree, and worked in a school library, before deciding to pursue writing on a full-time basis. Donna lives in Maryland with her husband, who is her real-life romance hero. They enjoy traveling to visit far-flung family and friends, and spending time on the beach with an umbrella drink and a good book.

Book Blast ~ Tailwinds Past Florence by Doug Walsh

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Doug Walsh will be awarding a $25 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

After getting blacklisted from the venture capital industry, twenty-nine-year-old Edward Vaughan will do anything to avoid telling his wife what happened. Even if it means agreeing to her dream of bicycling around the world. Kara, tired of being married to a workaholic, was readying for a divorce. Now, she’s packing bags of a different kind. Together, they pedal away from Seattle, headed east on the open road across America, Europe, and beyond.

Theirs is a decision that reverberates across centuries, shattering a continuum that bound their souls throughout time, and traps Edward in a battle with a past life over an eternal love.

As the miles roll by, and the couple's sordid secrets begin to surface, the couple encounters several men plucked from history, each one a vessel of Edward’s soul in a prior life. Of them, a 19th century art dealer proves dangerous, believing Kara is his ticket back to the past.

Tailwinds Past Florence is a contemporary love story with a magical twist, landing readers in the saddle of a global bicycle adventure.

Read an Excerpt:

Kara clutched her chest as her breathing returned to normal. It was one thing not to know why he wasn’t at work, it was another for him to be hiding behind the door. What the hell, Edward. She bent to pick up her dropped keys. “You’re home.” It came out more statement than question.

“Long story. Why didn’t you cover your eyes?”

She raised her hands in answer. They held a gym bag, purse, keys, and an envelope she’d somehow forgotten about in the commotion. “You didn’t give me any time,” she said. Then, noticing the map—her map—and the champagne, asked, “What’s all this?”

“This,” he said, grinning like a schoolboy about to receive his first kiss, “is a change of plans.”

Her mouth fell open as she processed what she was hearing. Kara spent months asking him to take time off, hoping he’d see how important the trip was to her, practically begging. She tore the map down after the holidays, after diplomatic overtures had failed. She’d been holding a bomb ever since, delaying the inevitable. Now, with her self-imposed deadline having come and gone, he wanted to do it.

Today? You’ve got to be kidding me, she thought, clutching the envelope, dumbstruck.

“I thought you’d be excited.” His smile drooped.

“I … I am,” she stammered. “I think. You have to admit, it’s a lot to swallow.”

“You still want to go, right?”

Did she? It’d be an incredible adventure, a badge she’d wear the rest of her life. But, to Kara, cycling around the world was a means to an end. Her gaze drifted to the map, the promise held within its Sharpie itinerary. The promise of change, of resurrecting the man she married, her best friend and lover. For three years, it’d be just the two of them, reforging their bond against the anvil of the open road. And if her plan didn’t succeed, if he returned to his workaholic ways when it was over, she’d at least know she tried.

VBT Christmas & Cannolis by Peggy Jaeger ~ What inspired you to write this story?

It's a virtual tour and there are prizes to be won. What book am I featuring? Christmas and Cannolis by Peggy Jaeger. There's a guest post here, too! But I mentioned prizes. Like? You could win a $20 Amazon/BN GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Want more chances to win? Then follow the tour. You can do that here: https://goddessfishpromotions.blogspot.com/2018/09/vbt-christmas-canollis-by-peggy-jaeger.html

Christmas and Cannolis by Peggy Jaeger

With Christmas season in full swing, baker Regina San Valentino is up to her elbows in cake batter and cookie dough. Between running her own business, filling her bursting holiday order book, and managing her crazy Italian family, she’s got no time to relax, no room for more custom cake orders, and no desire to find love. A failed marriage and a personal tragedy have convinced her she’s better off alone. Then a handsome stranger enters her bakery begging for help. Regina can’t find it in her heart to refuse him.

Connor Gilhooly is in a bind. He needs a specialty cake for an upcoming fundraiser and puts himself—and his company’s reputation—in Regina’s capable hands. What he doesn’t plan on is falling for a woman with heartbreak in her eyes or dealing with a wise-guy father and a disapproving family.

Can Regina lay her past to rest and trust the man who’s awoken her heart?

Now for that Post:

I’ve had 2 San Valentino books published since 2015, 3 WISHES and A KISS UNDER THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS. Sonny San Valentino appeared as a minor, yet pivotal secondary character, in both and after A Kiss Under the Christmas Lights was published, I had several readers tell me they wanted me to write Sonny’s story. They loved his old world, wise-guy wanna be ways and wanted to know more about him, his past and the type of woman who could stay married to him for over 50 years.

Sonny not only had to have a strong wife, but a family who could respect him, put up with his charming, con-man ways, and still respect and love him enough that they listened to his advice. Since he has his fingers in so many business pies and has so many connections – both nefarious, and, just this side of legal – he would need to be strong and commanding, yet show vulnerability towards the people he loves the best - his family.

This is the first book I’ve ever written that was reader-pushed. I had no intentions of ever writing any other San Valentino stories after A Kiss Under The Christmas Lights. What’s that old saw? Never say never?

#Truth!

Now for an Excerpt!

I spotted my customer in the seat my mother indicated. His back was toward me, but I could tell he was tall from how much of him shot up from the chair. Since I didn’t know how to address him, I simply said, “Excuse me?” when I finally arrived at the table. I was all set to introduce myself and ask how I could help him, but before the words could form in my throat I was struck mute. Truly. I stopped short, my mouth falling open like unfilled cannoli shells, and no sound came out.

He turned to me at the exact moment a slice of midday November sunlight streamed through the window, landing right on him and surrounding his head in a halo of bright, brilliant light. I wouldn’t have been surprised if a choir of angels started belting out celestial high notes because the guy could have been a charter member of the Messenger of God club.

Facially, he looked a little older than my thirty-two, but not over the forty-year mark yet. Where my hair is the color of wet ink, his was a shock of silver threaded with faint stripes of peppery black above his ears. It looked so thick and touch-worthy, the tips of my fingers were actually tingling to clutch the ends and grab on. Eyes the color of threatening storm clouds—gray and tinged with pale shards of blue—peered up at me, a question pulling at their corners. Eyelashes most women had to pay for framed his lids naturally. His jaw was square, his cheekbones carved from marble by a master sculptor.

But his mouth—Madre di Dio, his mouth. It was about as perfect as two lips meeting in the center of a face could be. Full and thick with that natural rimmed outline women were forced to create with a liner pencil, it was the most kissable mouth I’d ever seen. Tinted the color of aged Barolo—my father’s favorite wine—ripe and smooth, full-bodied and intense, it simply stopped me in my tracks.

“Zoey,” Nia yelled from inside her bunk, where she had been talking to Josh. “Mack wants to say good night.”

I heard a chorus of approvals from the back of the bus. I stuck my tongue out at them and they laughed. I took the walkie-talkie from Nia and went back to my bunk.

“Hello?”

“Hi, Zoey.

“I just wanted to say goodnight,” Mack said over the crackles.

I smirked. “Why don’t you just call me?”

“Isn’t there something romantic about saying good night over a two-way radio channel in the wilds of Texas where a dozen truckers can hear us?”

I rolled my eyes. “I guess it’s romantic,” I said with a laugh. “Thank you. That is very sweet. Good night Mack.”

“Night.”

Before I shut off the walkie-talkie, I heard from over the waves, “Aw, you kids are cute.” I let out a laugh and turned it off as I handed it back to Nia. I closed my curtains and laid down to sleep as visions of Mack danced in my head.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:
from Winter’s Warmth by Angela Shelley
Alma squinted into the icy wind, bundled against the cold. The mansion stood quiet and dark, same as yesterday.
The satellite dish had been dragged off the stairs and laid on its side against the smooth, white stone building. The stairs where the equipment hit had crumbled, and several large cracks emanated from the impact crater.
Alma let out a gust of breath. If she’d stood there a second longer, she’d be dead. She dashed up the remaining steps, fearful of what else might come from above.
Inside the shelter of the stoop, the house itself radiated cold. Alma raised her red glove, lifting the brass knocker on hollow frozen door.
No answer came.
She pushed the bell.
Somewhere within, a chime tinkled like shattering glass. Still, no sound betrayed that anyone heard her summons.
She took a deep breath to ready herself.
Memories came easier now, easier than they had in years. She had been here before. Once in a Model T. Once before that in a carriage. Once on horseback. Every time, this ice, this cold. Every time, she’d lost him to her. The Ice Queen.
The door would be unlocked, as before. Something about the house, cold and relentless, stood above threat. It had no need for locks. Alma pushed the front door open and stepped inside.
About the authors:
Jill Jaynes began her love affair with romance when she was a teenager growing up in Southern California, spending many a late-night under the covers with a flashlight and good romance novel.  This early addiction stuck, and she discovered one day that telling great stories was even more fun than reading them.
When she’s not writing, you can find her a) wine-tasting, hiking or otherwise hanging out with her awesome husband, b) walking her two high-maintenance dogs, c) plotting her next story with her writer-daughter or d) working at her day job in her spare time.
Barb DeLong has always had a passion for reading and writing. She has won and been a finalist in several writing contests. Animals are another passion, and creatures both wild and domestic are featured in most of her stories of love, laughter and magic. Barb contributed contemporary romance stories in Romancing the Pages and Secrets of Moonlight Cove anthologies. A transplant from Canada, she enjoys the sunny climes of Southern California with her one-and-forever hubby and a fluffy, blue-eyed ragdoll cat, two children and five grandchildren.
Now for an Excerpt:
The room looked tired, heavy under the weight of what it had witnessed. Lauren knew the feeling.
“The chances for bail aren’t very good,” she admitted honestly, eyes back on the file as if memorizing the words she’d already studied. “They have a witness who claims to have seen you shoot Robert Carson—”
“I did shoot him.”
She was forced to look up at him again. “Pardon?”
He shrugged, those eyes suddenly, briefly as bleak as death. “My old mother always told me to take responsibility for my actions. Bobby was my partner, so I owe him that much.”
Honor. She wasn’t sure she was ready for that. Lauren realized that her chest was beginning to ache. She wanted to comfort this man, and it frightened her. She nudged her glasses back up onto her nose and clutched her pen as if it were a weapon of self-defense.
“Why did you shoot him?”
The smile she got was as dark as those eyes. Even, strong teeth flashed white beneath the bedraggled mustache. “Because he was going to shoot me, of course.”
Lauren took a look at her reports. “But there was no gun found.”
“Of course not. The last thing they need is to have me sounding legitimate. Which is also why that packet of crack flipped out on the ground when the police were turning out my pockets. It had been planted. Nothing like a dirty narc to turn on his best friend, after all.”
Which brought Lauren back to the call she’d received just as she’d been gathering up her briefcase. She set down her pen. She laid her hands on the table and faced her client. And she asked him the sixty-four-thousand-dollar question. “Are you a dirty narc?”
This time his smile was wild and delighted. His eyes crackled with a kind of mad glee that had no place in this dingy room. “If I were a dirty narc,” he assured her, “I sure as hell wouldn’t be dressed like this.’’
She nodded. More than that would have been superfluous. Mr. O’Neill went back to mutilating his coffee cup. His eyes were red-rimmed, his manner tense and unpredictable. He was millimeters from taking flight, his long legs almost twitching with the effort to remain still. On almost anyone else, Lauren would have suspected drugs. She wasn’t sure why she didn’t want to think that about this man.
“They,” she echoed his statement. “They who?”
That was what broke his patience. He launched from his chair as if he’d been spring-loaded. Lauren almost flinched, not sure what he had in mind. Wondering not for the first time how close at hand help was.
But he wasn’t focused on her. Hands shoved into the pockets of his battered old peacoat, head down, he paced.
Lauren fought the urge to check her watch. Her stomach was grumbling. She was supposed to meet Phil for dinner tonight. She was going to get there right about the dessert course if this kept up, and she was going to need more than dessert to see her through. Lauren’s stomach was a notorious dictator, and even Mr. O’Neill’s story wasn’t going to quiet its demands.
“Mr. O’Neill.”
His head shot up. He slid to a stop by the door. “J.P.,” he allowed with a quick grin that was actually charming. “I haven’t been called Mr. O’Neill since Sister Roch caught me smoking in the boy’s room in eighth grade.”
Lauren scowled, trying her best not to give in to the urge to smile back. “I’ll bet. Who are ‘they’? Did ‘they’ do that to you?” she asked, pointing to what looked like a new abrasion along his right cheekbone.
“No.” He smiled. “That was nothing more than a quick etiquette lesson by the arresting officers.”
Lauren stiffened. She was hardly a neophyte in the ways of police, but it didn’t make her any happier. “Did you provoke it?”
“Of course. I was found standing over a dead federal agent with a gun in my hand. They had every right to object.”
Read an Excerpt:
Rohan parked, cut the engine, and turned to me, his eyes hot. “Know what else I don’t like?”
I licked my lips, remembered that wasn’t an answer and shook my head.
“Making me sit through dinner, watching you in that dress. Cruel.”
“You’ve been copping feels all the way home.
“It’s not enough.”
I snickered, but when he slammed his precious car’s door in his haste to get me inside, I may have set a new record for speed-walking in heels.
We barely made it into his bedroom before, mouth on mine, he pressed me back against the wall. His teeth dragged over my lower lip before his tongue slipped inside. He trailed his magic finger blades over my shoulder and bare back, just enough to leave faint marks that I’d shiver staring at in the bathroom mirror later.
Sliding my hand under his shirt, I skimmed my fingers along the ridges of his sculpted abs. He retracted his blades and I broke the kiss to draw his fingers into my mouth, my tongue swirling around each one in turn. Pinching his nipples with my other hand, I rubbed my bare thigh up his leg. His sigh rumbled over me.
A furious ache built to a throbbing pulse inside me.
Rohan sucked on my neck and I tilted my head to give him better access to the sensitive skin. He caressed my cheek with the back of his hand, pinning me with this filthy eye-fuck that made my stomach flutter. “Wrap your legs around me.”
