“There’s a bookstore and it has a coffee shop. I go there. I spend a lot of time with Molly because she’s alone at the B&B. Her last boyfriend was a real peach and when he left, he screwed her over. Stole her money, wrecked her car…so she’s kind of touchy.” He stretched his legs. “Otherwise I do my own thing. I spend a lot of time at the library and working with the ladies group who helps the library.”“No boyfriend?”Isn’t he full of questions again? “No.”
“Me either.” Tristan blew out a long breath. “Why don’t we go down to the diner? I’m starving and…why not?”“Sure.” He eyeballed Tristan. The guy wasn’t asking him to come home with him. Just a meal together. Why did this feel like more? Because he wanted more? Christ, he hadn’t gone out with anyone since Barry and even then, the connection wasn’t strong. He stood and stretched, then settled next to Tristan. He could be crazy, but he’d like to find out more about Tristan.Tristan remained beside Michael as they walked to the diner. He could get used to being with Michael. He’d only been in town for twenty-four hours and he couldn’t fathom not having Michael in his life. As friends? Absolutely. As lovers? If he had his way, then yes.

“It’s Valentine’s Day. What’s on your docket?”
“I’m not sure. Aydin said something about a plan and celebration. I’m the lousy boyfriend this time. I hadn’t gotten him anything and was going to on the way home.” The tips of his ears burned. “I was so worried about the review, I kind of forgot it was Valentine’s Day.”
“You forgot?” she blurted.
“I did.” He walked beside her. “I was going to get him flowers.”
“Flowers?” She stopped in her tracks. “Are you serious?”
“He likes them.”
“Not chocolates?”
“He doesn’t like them. I thought he did, but he just ate the ones I got him for Christmas because he didn’t want them to go to waste.” When she started walking again, he fell into step beside her. “I know what he likes—now.”
“Flowers, eh?” She laughed. “And what else? Some hey-hey?” She elbowed him. “Right?”
He wasn’t about to tell her the other gift would be a blow job.
“Well, good.” She stopped at the classroom door. “I hope you have a good night.” She poked her head into the classroom. “Bye, Aydin. Have a wicked hot night.”
“That’s the plan.” Aydin left his spot on the desk and picked up the portfolio. “Ready?”
Heat slid through Brandon’s body. He couldn’t wait to get home. He’d strip Aydin down and taste every inch of him. “Yeah.”
“Good. Let’s go. I drove, so we can blow this popsicle stand.” Aydin carried the case out of the room. “Goodnight, Georgie. Do you need us to walk you out?”
“Nah, I’m meeting my friend Durand upstairs.” She waved. “Night! Do all the things I can’t do but want to watch.”
“We will,” Aydin called.
Brandon stood rooted to the spot for a second. Do all the things I can’t do but want to watch…holy shit. And Aydin hadn’t batted an eye. Damn. Excitement radiated through Brandon. He had the guy, the grade, and good friends. Now, he’d have a hot Valentine’s Day. Fucking sweet, indeed.

Can the star drummer step away from the buzz of fame long enough to grab what he needs with both hands or will the lure of the crowd be too much?

Matt Walker knew from the moment he got involved with Jacen that their relationship was temporary. Jacen’s a celebrity and he holds the position of the sexiest eligible bachelor of the band. Even if Matt saw a future for him and Jacen, the odds aren’t in their favor. But he can hope, right? He’s been head over heels in love with Jacen since the moment they met.

Matt busied himself with straightening the counter space and trying not to watch Jacen. Fuck. How could he not? The man featured in his dreams and had become his favorite spank bank material. He swept his gaze over Jacen. The denim shorts hugged his hips and accentuated the strength in his legs. Jacen rubbed the back of his neck with his fingers and flexed his upper body.
Jesus. Was Jacen trying to turn him on? If so, he’d accomplished his mission. Matt plopped onto the stool and pressed his knees together. Blood rushed to his cock and his mouth watered. Just a few touches. Kisses. He didn’t want much. Really.
“Mother fucker.” Jacen whipped around and held his phone in a white-knuckled grasp as he strode back to the desk. “He’s a piece of shit. Where are those peas?”
Matt offered up the bag. “Whoever it is, I hope you lit into him.” He shut the laptop down, then moved the device to the lower portion of the counter. “Better pick up your key before you forget.” He slid the card across to Jacen. “Have a good night…well, a better one than you’ve had so far.”
“Huh?” Jacen glared at Matt and plunked the bag back onto his bruise. “Are you here all night? I thought Cady hired on people to work the desk so you and her weren’t stuck.”
“She did, but this is my night. I have to earn my keep somehow.” He grinned to hide his displeasure. “I can’t feed my music and running habits without some source of income.”
Jacen tucked his phone into his pocket and lingered at the counter. “Want some company? I came here to work on music, yeah, but that wasn’t the only reason.” He offered up the bag. “I’ve melted this.”
“I’ll stick it back in the freezer. No problem.” He gripped the melting frozen food. “Stick around a moment in case anyone comes in and I’ll put it back.” He left Jacen alone long enough to put the peas in the fridge. He’d probably make them for lunch the next day instead of wasting them. When he returned, Jacen had rounded the counter.
“All good?” Jacen asked.
“I’ve got lunch for tomorrow.” He tensed. “Thanks for holding down the fort.” He expected Jacen to leave, but instead, he crept closer to Matt.
“I didn’t just return for Rory and the music. I came here for you, too.”
“Me?” He frowned. “What?” He had to be hearing Jacen wrong. No way Jacen meant that.
“Uh, yeah. You.”

Footsteps crunched on the dry grass. He glanced over his shoulder. He wasn't sure why, but he'd expected to see his ex-boyfriend Mike. Maybe they weren't good together, but Mike had a way of knowing when Denver was low. He focused on the person walking up to him.
This wasn't Mike.
Recognition swept over him. He knew the man. Jett Dawson, Deiken's partner.
Oh shit. The last time he'd spoken to Jett, they'd argued. Jett screamed at him and he'd called Jett an asshole. Back then, he hadn't known the score and blamed Jett for his brother's passing. Now he knew better.
The guilt came rushing back to Denver. He wasn't sure what to say to his twin's partner.
"Denver." Jett stopped beside him.
"Jett." He wanted to be cool and not lose his temper. Deiken's actions were his own--not Jett's fault. Besides, Denver had blown his chances at conversation in the past. How did he know now would be different?
"I miss him," Jett said. He stuffed his hands into his board short's pockets. "It's not the same at the plant without him."
"I bet." He turned his attention to Jett, but didn't really see him.
"I come here a lot. I must miss you, since this is the first time I've run into you in six months." Jett sighed, then faced away from the grave. "Can--can we talk? Not exchange pleasantries, but really talk? Not here."
Denver paused. This could end up therapeutic or really bad. They tended to argue, not talk. But still. If Jett needed someone, he'd try to be there. "I've got coffee at the house and it's quiet. Or lemonade." He'd always been attracted to Jett, but never said anything because of Deiken. Jett wanted his brother, not him. Then Deiken passed and the argument happened. He doubted once he and Jett talked that Jett would have much to do with him, but he'd give the conversation a shot.
"Coffee or lemonade sounds good." Jett rocked on his feet. "Really good."
"Want a minute alone with Deik? I can head to the farm and start the coffee." Truth be told, he simply needed some separation from his brother's partner.
"I'm good. I've talked to him so many times. Not just here. We talk at the office, the apartment and when I run." Jett chuckled. "I bet he's tired of hearing from me."
"Nah. He loved you." Denver knew that down to his soul. Deiken always discussed Jett and their life together. "You were his world."

"Sometimes things aren't what they seem." Jett started away from Denver, then paused. "Let's go to the farm. I know the way."

“I never got a chance to give you his rundown.” Alec grinned. “Since the waiting room is empty, I’ll just tell you now. No worms, no fleas, but I’d give him a bath. The weight loss helped but I’d also suggest getting Dragon on a tooth brushing regimen. He’s been eating things he probably shouldn’t that did a number on his gums. I ran a heartworm test which was negative and I’ve given him a pill for this month. When you come in next we’ll set you up right. Call, okay?” He winked and walked back into the closest exam room.

We’ll set me up? Call? He wanted me to call him? I hadn’t heard those terms in such a long time. Maybe my assumption more than fifteen years before had been more on the money than I thought. I shrugged him off back then. I could be over-thinking. Again.

I looked down at Dragon, who was sprawled on his side on the floor. He gazed up at me with his droopy eyes and his tongue sticking out of his mouth. At least I had him back. What I’d do about my overzealous crush on the vet and his advances, well I hadn’t figured that out yet. I stress yet.
