Getting Wicked with my Friend Rhonda Lee Carver!

Thank you Wendi for allowing me to stop by so I could share my latest release, Wicked Pleasures. The second book in the Wicked Wolves series will be out in December. Pick up book one now and prepare yourself to be wolved!

Suffering from years of hopeless romantic notions with sexy, sassy heroines and bad-ass heroes taking
residence in her mind, Rhonda decided to write, bringing the stories alive. She has published an array of spicy love stories. Her specialty is men who love to get their hands dirty.
When Rhonda isn’t crafting edge-of-your-seat, sizzling novels, you will find her with her children, watching soccer, watching a breathtaking movie, traveling to exotic places, doing (or trying) yoga, and finding new ways to keep life interesting.
Rhonda thrives on making her readers happy. She believes life can be a challenge, but reading is a place where fantasy comes to life. Everyone deserves romance—one page at a time…

Excerpt:

BRONTE SNUGGLED DEEPER into the nest of pleasing warmth. She’d never felt such comfort.  Stretching her muscles, she sighed languidly as a rush of indulgence whirled through her. The nightmare of being held hostage by an arrogant ass couldn’t even fade the glorious feeling.  No other time had she slept all night.
Rolling over, her face pressed against something iron hard. Inhaling deeply, she froze. Her heart skipped a beat. The smell was familiar—woodsy mixed with mint. And who the hell was breathing in her ear?
Sliding one eye open, she jerked. Shit! She darted across the bed, pulling the red satin sheet with her. The kidnapping wasn’t a dream. The arrogant ass was here, in bed, with her! Worse, she was in his bed and he was sleeping soundly. Damn! He was naked!
She raked her gaze downward, soaking up every inch of his nudity.
Hell, she didn’t want to look at him, but for the life of her, she couldn’t help herself.  Admiring his physique broke some unwritten rule about captive not ogling her captor, but if he wasn’t aware, maybe it wasn’t so wrong. He was the description of perfect male, making her self-conscious of her own less-than-perfect body. From his broad shoulders, over massive chest, narrow waist, and—she jerked her glance away. Oh hell! He was hard and a size that matched every other large part of him.  It was so wrong that such a jerk had a body of Adonis.
“Forget the body,” she whispered. She wondered how he’d gotten naked. She lifted the sheet. And how the hell did I get naked?
She was going to be sick. Stomach twirling, she squeezed the bridge of her nose between her forefinger and thumb. She couldn’t remember anything after he’d pulled out needle and thread and—
Biting back a moan, she held up her bandaged hand. With haste she’d never known, she tore off the white gauzy material. Shit! Shit! Her heart beat faster. She stared at her wounded hand neatly stitched and covered in clear salve. Looking over at the sleeping man, her mind fabricated ways she could teach him a lesson on boundaries, and so proudly flaunting his goods. Her eyes naturally fell to his long cock. She should follow through with a few of her own evil ideas.  Wonder how he’d like a few stitches in his tool?
No use. She was a wimp. At the mere sight of blood she’d probably pass out, and ending up unconscious was the last thing she wanted.
A horrible notion flashed through her mind. Was it possible they had sex? If she was out while he stitched her wound, anything could have happened. She reached down and touched her inner thighs. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, no swelling or sensitivity, and with a cock his size, she’d have physical evidence.
Some tension left her muscles. Although he didn’t violate her, would he next time?
How had he knocked her out? Had he hypnotized her?
There was no time to stick around and debate her questions. She knew this could be her one and only chance to get the hell away.
Bronte gave the sleeping figure one more glance. He still slept. His breathing was heavy and his chest rose and fell evenly. As quietly as possible, she slid to the edge of the bed, eased her legs over the side and placed her feet onto the cool floor.  She stood and wrapped the sheet around her body as she scanned the room for her clothes. They were gone. She guessed Roark had hid them from her, thinking she wouldn’t escape without clothes. Dressed or not, she’d get out of this place. Nudity was nothing compared to spending more time in Roark’s loony bin.
With a quick glimpse over her shoulder to make sure he was still asleep, Bronte started across the room toward the door. She took each tiptoed step with great care, but every breath and every time her foot pressed against the wood, it sounded like an explosion in her ears. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. Her heart fluttered at the possibility of freedom. Reaching the exit, she placed her palm on the knob, twisted and her hope dropped. Nothing happened. It was locked. The bastard! Maybe she could stand the sight of blood, just this once, if it meant getting revenge. She turned on heel and ran into a wall of flesh and muscle. Bringing her gaze up into an expression of pure wickedness, she gulped loudly.
“You didn’t think I’d allow you to walk out of here, did you?” His voice was husky from sleep. He yawned and wiped his eyes.
His laid-back attitude made her want to rip his eyes out. And having him stand there naked and proud, made her fury multiply. How dare he be so smug! “You can’t keep me here forever.”
“How long you stay is completely up to you, sweetheart. You’re in control more than you think.”
She slanted her eyes, wishing she could shoot daggers into his head. “I’ll never have your child. You said you have plenty of willing women so why not find someone who is eager to have your baby?”
The corner of his lips curved downward. “I also told you that I didn’t pick you.”
Holding the sheet over her with one hand, she used the other to rub her aching temple. It wasn’t possible to have a conversation with someone who was in serious need of mental help.  “Okay, you’ve told me that. You didn’t pick me.” It was no use. “Where are my clothes? I am allowed to wear something, right?” He lowered his eyes over her sheet-covered body and every part of her quivered, in a very bad, but good, way. She tugged the satin material tighter as if it was a shield from his view. He brought his gaze back to hers and his twinkling eyes offended her, yet excited her. She’d need to see a therapist after this.
He laughed. How could he think this was humorous?
“Of course clothes are permitted. That is until you decide you want to frolic naked. It’s such a feeling of freedom, not to mention, without all of that material in the way it’s much easier to gain access to the lovely parts.”
Her face flamed with heat. She wanted to tell him just what she thought, but knew he’d give her some egotistical response. For now, she needed to get dressed. “Clothes? Where are they? White top, black pants.”
“You can’t wear those.”  He turned his back to her and went to the wardrobe. “I’ve already thrown them out.”
“Thrown them out? Why?” Bronte wanted to scream.  She watched him take out clothes from the cabinet, thinking he was going to give her something to wear, but instead he shook out a pair of dark denims and started to put them on. Her eyeballs itched to watch his tight backside, but she refused herself the pleasure. Nope, she wouldn’t do it. But as the jeans moved upward, her gaze went downward. She swore the man was a devil with power. And to top it off, his sex was hard…again. Did it ever deflate? She wondered how he’d fit himself inside the pants?
He turned and she made sure her stare was on his face. “They were spotted with blood.”
“Huh?” Her mind was confused.
“Your clothes. That’s what we were talking about.”
“And whose fault is it that they were bloody?” She huffed.
“Relax, Bronte. That color of pale doesn’t work for you,” he said as he passed her to the door. With his back to her, she wondered if she had time to find something to crack him over the head. She scanned the room until his voice snapped her into reality. “Tsk, tsk. Such brutal thoughts for a wisp of a woman. I’m not sure you could reach high enough. I liked you admiring my body much better.”
She opened her mouth to blast him with a four-letter word when her mind wrapped around the fact that he’d just read her thoughts. Every hair on her body stood erect. It wasn’t the first time he seemed to know what she was thinking.
He looked at her over his shoulder. “Do you think you can behave outside of the confines of this room? I’d hate to tie your wrists again. Touching you is much more tempting when you’re bound and pissed off.” He wriggled his brows.
“You’re unbelievable,” she snarled.
“Unbelievable is not the right word, sweetheart. I haven’t lied to you once to earn that label.” He smirked. “Now, answer the question or I’ll leave you in here until you lose some of that ladylike charm.”
“I deserve answers to my questions as well.” Her strength was weakening. Her hope of getting away was fading. This man had her right where he wanted her, but she refused to give up. Maybe he’d come to his senses.
His jaw loosened and his features softened. “You’re right. In time, you’ll get the answers you want. For now, let’s go to your room. Your new clothes are in there.”
“My room?” The words spilled out like a bitter morsel of veracity. She had a room. He planned to keep her. The madness grew deeper.
He reached above the frame of the door and grabbed the key. She bit her bottom lip.So that was his hiding place. He opened the thick wooden door and stepped back, motioning for her to lead the way into the hall. “Remember what I said, fiery wench. Bounds and defiance are irresistible to me. I’ve wanted to kiss you since the moment you cocked me in the jaw.”
He only mocked her, but she wasn’t ready to test him. “Get over yourself and show me this room,” she said with animosity. “And then I hope I can have some privacy.”
“Ladies first.”
Walking into the hall, she looked around her. She half expected a camera crew to jump out from behind the scenes, yelling, “You’ve been punked.” No such luck.  She moved farther down the corridor, fully aware he was following her, like a predator.
“Here we are,” he said and she stopped at the closed doorway. It figured he’d have her next door to his own bedroom. He pushed past her and unlocked the door, then dropped the key back into his front pocket. He opened the door. “After you, sweetheart.”
Bronte wasn’t sure what she’d been expecting of the room. She wouldn’t have imagined it’d be extravagant, yet it was a bedroom fit for a queen—superbly designed and tastefully furnished. He’d gone to great lengths in every detail, making her wonder if he’d done all of this for her. She’d only seen rooms like this in magazines.
From the doorway, she admired the white wall with the intricate pearlescent stencil design, which was contemporary and sophisticated. Silk curtains framed the queen bed, which was adorned with matching bright mulberry colored bedding. Delicate crystal beads hung on one side of the bed, catching the rich colors of the blanket. Beautiful oil paintings of flowers and cherubs hung on the walls, elaborating on the romantic theme. French doors led to a balcony.
“Well, are you going to go in?” Roark asked from behind her.
“Yes, I guess I should.” She was in awe as she strolled further into the suite, wanting to bask in its beauty but she wouldn’t allow him the pleasure. “So, where are my clothes?”
“You’ll find everything you need in here. Clothes are in the drawers. The bathroom is here.” He pointed to a door to her right.
“Okay. You can go now.” The quicker he was out of her hair the sooner she could get dressed and get plotting her getaway.
He seemed to hesitate and then nodded. “Come downstairs in thirty minutes.”
“Sure, Master.”
“Your attitude is improving already.”

She gritted her teeth. He stepped out, closed the door behind him and she heard his laughter all the way down the hall. “Bastard,” she whispered. She half expected him to pop back in and scold her.

Hump Day Humps with Sunshine of Your Love

Read the Other Humps Here!
My Hump is from one of my favorite recent historical books, Sunshine of Your Love. I totally feel the early seventies when I read back over it. Grin.

Sunshine of Your Love by Wendi Zwaduk

Recent Historical
M/F, Erotic Romance
Total-E-Bound Publishing
Available here:
It’s 1970. The world is in upheaval. Can two people really make a difference and find love at the same time?
Noel Flynt signed up for the Army to carry out his family duty. He never expected the travesties of Vietnam to take their toll on him. He’s coming back to the world he thought he knew, but with everything changing around him, he’s going to have to learn he can’t live in the past.
Cindy Stephens couldn’t wait for Noel to return. She sees the man within the uniform and has loved him for as long as she can remember. But times have changed. She’s not the timid schoolgirl any longer. Can she accept his changes, too?
The only constants are time and love.
Reader Advisory: This book contains one war hero, the woman who loves him, lots of hot sex, with a little spanking mixed in for good measure.
EXCERPT:
“Hey.” He cupped her chin. “If I learned nothing else over there, it’s that tomorrow is never guaranteed.” Noel wiped away one of her tears with the pad of his thumb. “I can’t say I’m not sorry she dumped me this way. Things probably wouldn’t have worked out, but I sure as shit wish Sophie had had the balls to tell me herself in person.”
“You don’t mean that.” Cindy scooted closer to him. “You two were the perfect pair.” Saying the words out loud hurt.
“I am far from perfect and I’m positive Sophie and I wouldn’t have had a future together. What she wants is now nothing like what I want.” Noel tapped her nose with his index finger, like he had when she was a child. “I’m not sorry and I’m not surprised. Sophie can’t handle things when the shit hits the fan. She wants the easy way out. I just hope the poor asshole knows what he’s gotten himself into.” He kissed her ring finger. “This looks better on your hand, like it’s supposed to be there.”
She touched his cheek, loving the scratch of day-old whiskers against the tips of her fingers. “Thank you.”
“That’s why you have it now.” He tilted his wrist. “My watch says it’s nearly seven. Why don’t we get out of this parking garage? Are you hungry? I’m starving. We could grab a late supper and talk.”
“Sure.” She cleared her throat. “Why don’t you drive?”
Noel offered his hand. “Yeah?” He helped her off the trunk of the car, but didn’t back up. The hem of her dress caught on his jeans leg, exposing most of her thigh. She wriggled to cover herself up, but he stopped her again. “Been a long time since I’ve seen something so sexy.” He smoothed the fabric, palming her thigh on the way down. “A long time.”
His lips parted and his breath warmed her skin. The musk of his cologne wrapped around her, enveloping her in his strength and masculinity. She placed her hands on his chest. His pulse thrummed under her hand. If she bounced on the balls of her feet, she’d be able to kiss him. His words came back to her. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. Then she’d take her chance today.
Cindy licked her bottom lip then captured his mouth in a kiss. Noel hummed and curled his arms around her waist. He tightened his grasp, holding her flush against his body. His erection jabbed into her stomach. Heat from him radiated along her nerve endings. His tongue tangled with hers. Feeling bold, she sucked on his tongue and ground her hips on his thigh. If they hadn’t been in the middle of the parking garage, she’d gladly have helped him initiate her trunk lid.
Noel pulled away first. A predatory look filled his brown eyes. “Get in the car.”

HOT EXCERPT:
Noel stood and shoved his pants and boxers to the floor, then fumbled on the floor for his wallet. He tore the foil packet and sheathed himself. He couldn’t remember why he had the rubber, but he appreciated it being there in the clinch. He crawled on top of her. “Relax, breathe and look at me. I’ll try to make this wonderful. Hug me, dig your nails in, whatever you need to take the edge off.”
He rubbed his cockhead over her clit, eliciting another groan from her. Her lips parted and her puffed breath tickled his cheeks. Noel palmed her breast and nudged the blunt tip of his cock into her pussy. Her eyes widened and she cried out. Damn. He’d figured sex would hurt the first time. Hell. He moved slower and murmured in her ear.
“Yes, Sunshine. God, yes.” He pushed a little more, seating himself fully within her, and stopped.
“Hurts,” she whispered. Her nails bit into his back.
Noel pulled out and moved a little, balancing himself on one hand and his knees. “Enough?”
Cindy shook her head. “Feels better. Fuck me.”
“Such dirty words.” Noel kissed her and added another light thrust. “You fit around me like perfection.” His balls drew tight. God, he’d blow in moments.
“Harder. Doesn’t hurt as much. Please?” Cindy hooked her ankles together at the small of his back.
Noel kept himself in check, but increased the speed of his thrusts. Each time he withdrew, her walls pulled him back in. He let go of her breast and planted both hands, one on either side of her head. Cindy whimpered and worked her pussy over his cock. Her body went taut and her fingers clamped around his arms. He groaned and emptied his seed into the condom. A thought crossed his mind. If she were truly his, the condom wouldn’t be necessary.

Cindy went limp and stared up at him with glassy eyes. Her eyelids drooped and a sleepy smile formed on her lips. She touched his cheek. “I love you.”

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback - WEEK NINE

Okay, this past weekend, well, Thursday, wasn't kind to the Bengals. We kept it to a tight game and went into overtime, but it was rough. Still, 6-3 isn't anything to sneeze at.

Now it's time for some funny football!

But first, let me mention the Honorable Mentions...those quotes that were not quite right for last week... or came on Monday night.

“...good plays, bad plays—just keep coming...”
I'd hope so. If they just quit, then there's no game.

“...don’t be surprised if they give the big back another try...”
Snicker. Second chances are my forte.

 “...a lot better up front...”
Some think so. Giggle.
And now for those quotes this week. Some real zingers in this bunch.

“...taking a shot from inside...”
Less messy than leaving it on the outside.

“...he leaks out of the backfield...”
Someone should help him. Or get him a Depends.

“...a bigger body there, trying to block...”
Hey, there's nothing wrong with a big body to help out.

“...two linebackers in the main gap—sometimes they block, sometimes they don’t...”
At least they made it to the gap.

 “...bodies tumbling at the sidelines...”
They double as cheerleaders during the commercial breaks. Grin.

And now for that Doozy of the Week:

 “...a jerk route...”
I think plenty of guys need this label on them. Then you know what you're getting into when you're getting into it.

Thanks for reading. Hopefully your team won and if they didn't, well, there's always next week.
Stay tuned for my picks from Week Ten!

Hump Day Hump ~ Halloween Style with ROAR

Read more Humps Here

Roar by Megan Slayer
Contemporary, Paranormal
Short Story
M/F
Shara Azod Publishing

When the leaves turn and the air cools at Halloween, the shifters come out to play.
King has one chance for the entire year to find his mate. Halloween. Twenty-four hours to balance out the man and the animal. Will he be able to find her? Or will he be sentenced to another year locked within his lion’s form?
Tonya doesn’t believe in shifters, but she’s drawn to the massive lion at the zoo. The more she watches him, the more she wonders what secrets he hides. She’s not looking for romance on Halloween. Will she accept what she doesn’t understand...all in the name of love?
Available here:

EXCERPT:
She’ll be the death of me or my salvation. King strolled the length of the lion enclosure. Being in his animal form meant he could watch the visitors to the zoo with no interruptions. They gawked at him and the lionesses, and he snarled and strutted for them. Not a bad life—if he were just a lion. No, he had to be born a shifter.
He snorted and shook his head. That’d give his artist something to look at. He watched her. The saucy woman with warm brown skin churned something inside him. He wanted to see her, talk to her, curl his arms around her. Her scent wafted to him. She smelled of flowers and sweetness...things he hadn’t smelled in a long time.
She tipped her head and focused on the page again. Was she looking at him? Or admiring the lionesses? Goddess, he wanted her to be paying attention to him.
One of the lionesses strolled past him and sniffed, then continued on her way. He knew the score. He’d been sold into slavery by handlers wanting to give him to the zoo. He flopped on his side and stretched out.
If he’d found his mate before the handlers attacked him, he wouldn’t be in this situation. He wouldn’t be locked in a zoo with lionesses who hated him for not being an actual lion.
Two of the zookeepers entered the feeding room behind the rock face of the enclosure. If they only knew what he really was, would they let him out? Cage him up tighter? He snorted again. Their voices floated out to him, thanks to his hypersensitive hearing.
“If he doesn’t mate with the lionesses, we’ll have to bring in another one,” the female zookeeper said. “He’s not working out.”
Well, no shit. He wasn’t a full-blooded lion. The lionesses didn’t understand his shifter self. They wanted an animal. He glanced over at the artist again. She stared at him, her brow scrunched and her lips twisted, like she was deep in thought. A man sat beside her. King’s inner man growled. Odd, since usually the animal roared, not the man. His lion wasn’t real thrilled, either. Was she his mate? If the cat and the man both claimed ownership, then she could be. But the real wild card was her. If she didn’t accept him, he’d spend another year locked in his cat form. He loved the cat, but the man needed a chance to stretch and exist.
The zookeepers grabbed his attention again. “He’ll work out down in Cincinnati. They need a lion. He’ll be alone for a while, but he can handle it. I’ll start the paperwork. They won’t move him on Halloween, so we’ve got a couple days.”
Like hell. He wasn’t going to be lonely much longer, especially if it was indeed Halloween night. King sat up tall. He roared at the man next to his dark beauty. Get away from my girl.
King suppressed a snort. His girl? Who the hell did he think he was to claim her? She could reject him. The reality that he could be stuck for at least another year wriggled into his brain. The woman met his gaze and grinned. Smiling at him? He wrapped his tail around his legs in his best photographic pose. Or he could win her over.
She shook her head at the man and grabbed her phone. “I’m taking a picture. Leave me alone.” She nudged him. “Go.”
She’s not interested, asshole. Instead of his words, all she heard was his roar. Damn it.
The woman swatted the man’s hand away again, but this time Mr. Grabby got the hint and left her alone. Good thing. King nodded once as if to approve the man’s leaving.
“It’s like he’s watching me,” she murmured, then smiled at King. “I’m not sure I want to know what you’re thinking, but you look like you’re paying attention to me.” Yes, yes, he was paying attention to her. She met every one of his needs in the physical sense. Would she warm to him? He’d find out. He needed to get out—out of the zoo, out of his animal...and into her arms. Tonight. Yeah, time to get the hell out of Dodge and start his new life.

Sharing Nicely by Victoria Blisse

I thought I'd share one of my friend's books and since Ms Blisse is so dear, I thought you'd all like a tasty sample of her latest book, Sharing Nicely.

Sharing Nicely by Victoria Blisse

Two hot, sexy billionaires know what they want and they want her, but will they be happy to share nicely?
Kerry Matthews is used to stress—she runs her own high-end London club called Diamonds, but what she isn’t used to is attention from two very persuasive and powerful men.
Darren Bennett and Greg Stamford are life-long rivals, but call a truce to spend one night with sassy, curvy Kerry. They’re not content to share forever though. They both have a selfish desire to possess her completely.
Darren buys her seductive lingerie, flowers and chocolates, Greg flies her to Paris for a romantic break, cleans her flat and makes her breakfast in bed. Both vying to cement their place in her heart. She needs to decide between them but is dazzled by their persuasive personas and extravagant gifts.
Reader Advisory: This book contains a scene of MFM Ménage and some violence.

And now a saucy excerpt!

“So, are you two ready?” he asked. “I’ll get Chester to bring the limo round.”
“We can go in mine,” Darren snapped.
“Oh, don’t start this again.” I shook my head. “Decide nicely or I’ll be getting the damn Tube home.”
If the billionaires could be so abrupt with me, I’d be snappy with them.
“Fine,” Darren shrugged, “but we’re going back to my hotel.”
“Where are you staying?”
While the boys argued amongst themselves I took the date book and locked it away in my desk. I’d filled up a lot of the year and some dates had drifted into the next one. With the business I’d secured I was guaranteed to finish the fiscal year pleasantly in profit. I might even be able to afford a holiday. If I could persuade myself to stay away from Diamonds long enough.
When I walked back over to them the boys were silent.
“So, are we actually ready now?”
Greg reacted first, slipping his arm into mine and smiling.
“Yes, it seems me and Darren are staying at the same hotel.”
“Wonderful,” I smiled, intensely relieved. “Lead the way.”
Darren took hold of my other arm and we strode out together. I wasn’t expecting the barrage of flashing lights and yelled questions that greeted us. I supposed I had been a little naïve. The boys, with the aid of some huge security guards, pushed past the demands and we scooted into the back of a shiny black limousine. The mellow scent of leather filled the interior. Everything sparkled. I felt like we were in a separate car to the driver who was way, way down at the front.
“Are we going to the hotel, sir?” a polite voice asked. It sounded like it came from behind me, which was puzzling until I realised there was some kind of intercom device. Greg reached to the side of the limo and pressed a button.
“Yes, please, Chester.”
I would have liked more space to actually enjoy the ride home but I was crowded by two competing men and so spent my time flipping my gaze from one to the other, answering questions. Both were squeezed up close to me and both seemed determined to seduce me. I found that mind-spinningly crazy.
“What perfume are you wearing?” Darren ducked his head to sniff at my neck. I was very aware of his lips hovering just above my pulse point. I wished he’d kiss me there.
“Oh, I don’t know. Something fruity.” My mind went completely blank.
“You smell good enough to eat.” Darren continued and his lips did touch my skin but only for the briefest second. My whole body tightened at the gentle kiss.
“Your dress is beautiful.” It seemed Greg was not to be outdone—in fact he boldly ran his hand down my body from my shoulder, over my breast and lower. “I love the feel of velvet.”
“Thank you,” I squeaked then cleared my throat. “Thanks, I love velvet too.”
Tension zinged through me, sexual and otherwise. These two guys whoEE I’d only just met were making me into a battlefield. They were warring to control me.
I wasn’t a woman who enjoyed being mollycoddled. I took decisions, I dived into situations and I expected all of my staff to be respectful to both men and women. I’d reprimanded several for sexism and would go as far as to sack someone if they didn’t change their ways. I should have been appalled by the situation—I wasn’t just a trophy or a business contract. I should have kicked up a fuss and left then and there.
But I didn’t. I liked being the centre of attention. I liked being the prize they both wanted.
I waited for the next move but we pulled up outside the hotel so I had to wait until we exited the car. Again, both men linked arms with me. It was cold outside but apart from the cool breeze on my cheeks I barely felt it because their hard bodies protected me from the elements.
They whisked me across the marble frontage, past the liveried doorman and into a huge reception area. It glittered with prestige and marble. Everything was perfect, neat and tidy. There was nothing overly ornate or showy but you could tell by the purposeful minimalism that this was a very classy place. The kind of place I’d only ever imagined visiting.
We moved across the hall into the bar. Again it was big, shiny but understated. The bar was long and all the staff behind it were in immaculately cut uniforms. They all looked smart and tidy and I looked on with envy. I wished I could get my own staff to look so impressive.
“What would you like to drink?” Darren asked and smirked at Greg.
“I’d love a glass of water, really,” I replied, “I’m so thirsty.”
“I’ll get them to send over some water too, but should we have some champagne? It was a very good night for us all after all.”
Both Darren and Greg had won awards and I was sure they’d both made several deals too as they played the room.
“Yes, why not?” Greg answered before me. “Champagne sounds good.”
When Darren moved away Greg turned to me.
“Look, Kerry, I really would love to spend the night with you but it is killing me to be nice to him.”
“This is you being nice?”
“Exactly.” He almost smiled. I found it surprisingly endearing. “Please can we dump the other guy?”
“No.” I was very firm, it surprised even me. “No, I said I wanted to spend time with you both, so that is what’s going to happen. If you don’t like it, you can leave.”
“God, woman. You’re infuriatingly stubborn.” He growled.
“Now that is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.” I laughed.
Greg sighed. “I’m not used to being told what to do, Kerry. I’m the one in control.”
“I’d noticed, but if you want me, you play by my rules.” It was fun playing him at his own game.
“Oh, I want you.” His growl turned to a gravelly purr. It wasn’t cute, it was the noise of a killer beast merely at rest. Any moment he could pounce and rip me apart. It turned me on. I wriggled in my seat and my damp knickers chafed against my plump lips.
“Then you’ll share nicely.” I leaned in and kissed him. He was shocked, almost as much as I was. His lips were hard and ungiving for a moment—I thought maybe I’d pushed him too far—but then they melted, opened and pushed back and I felt his pent-up arousal running into me. I released my frustrated desire with every move of my lips.
We pulled apart and I had to pant to regain my breath while he licked his lips like he was savouring the taste.
“I’ll do it for you,” he said. I was intoxicated with the power of having him under my control.
“Hey, I want one too.” Darren came back, placed a glass of water before me and pressed his lips to mine. His were plump and giving. He prodded his tongue between my lips, into my mouth, taking control of the kiss and control of me. I felt like I might explode into a million pieces. I hadn’t been kissed in months and now I’d had two smoking hot smooches in as many minutes from two very hot but very different men.
“Okay,” I gasped when he pulled away, “now you’re even.”
The guys glowered at each other. I looked around the room to calm my nerves. Not a single person looked at us. Obviously such things happened often in bars of high-class hotels. It didn’t happen often to me. At all, in fact. I wondered if I was dreaming. I pinched my thigh below the table. It hurt. I definitely wasn’t dreaming.
A tall, skinny waiter brought us a bottle of champagne stood in a silver ice bucket. Balanced on his tray were three tall flutes. He transferred everything to our table with great pomp. I was in awe of his skill.
“Thank you,” I called. He nodded his head politely and walked off.
I knew a little about wine and champagne, only because my barman told me what I needed to order. The champagne in the bucket was clearly expensive—I’d never even heard of the name—and it was suitably French, obviously. I was sure Darren had ordered the most expensive in the place just to outdo Greg. I outdid both of them by just sipping at my water.
“Shall we take the rest of the bottle to my room?”
I nearly choked when I heard what Greg had said.
“Pardon?”
“Well, you wanted us to share nicely and I don’t think that even in an establishment like this where confidentiality is taken seriously we could share you, nicely or otherwise, right here in the bar.”
It took a moment to register that Greg Stamford, billionaire high-flyer and serious hottie, was propositioning me for a threesome. I’d agreed to it earlier, but it still seemed too much like a fairy tale to be actually real.
“I agree, mate. We’d get chucked out. Want to go to my room? It’s the Ambassador Suite.” Darren announced this like I should be impressed. Maybe it was the most expensive room in the hotel? I wasn’t sure.
“My room has the best view over the city,” Greg snapped.
“Yes, that’s what they tell people who can’t get in the Ambassador Suite.”
“Boys, stop it.” My voice was quite loud. The low murmur of conversation stopped for a moment, then carried on.
“Look. You are both very rich, I get it. You both want to be top dog, I get that too, but would you stop bickering like bloody schoolboys, okay? I am very flattered, truly, and I never in a million years would have imagined being in this situation…” I left the sentence hanging and gathered my thoughts.
“Please don’t say no.” Darren’s smile dissipated. “I’m sorry.”
“Well—” I tried to continue with my tirade. I had the moral high ground. I was going to say thanks but no thanks and leave both gentleman hanging, but say that I hoped they’d both still honour their bookings. I was going to make a stand, I really was. Then… Well, I’m not quite sure what happened.
“I’m sorry too,” Greg added. “We’re just billionaires used to getting our own way. Let’s go to the Ambassador Suite, it’s a lovely room.”
Had I heard that right? Had Greg Stamford apologised and ceded to his most hated rival?
“Yes, let’s,” Darren nodded. “Please, Kerry?”
I challenge any woman alive to not cave in when hit with not one but two sets of puppy dog eyes from intensely handsome men. I couldn’t do it.
“Come on then,” I whispered, “lead the way.”
On reflection, I think you’re right that Kerry isn’t going to use “whom”, so I de-corrected all uses of “whom” to “who”. Hope that’s OK.
Completely OK by me, cheers!

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback - WEEK EIGHT

This week was a bit of a blood bath for the Bengals. They schooled the Jets. According to my friend Patricia Sargent, SCHOOLED is the word. Grin. I'm not knocking a 6-2 record. Well done Andy Dalton with those 5 touchdown passes. Well done.

Now it's time for some funny football!

But first, let me mention the Honorable Mentions...those quotes that were not quite right for last week... or came on Monday night.

“...has to be effective in the pocket...”
Well, yes. Effectiveness does help.

“...doable pumps, then fires it in the hole...”
Doable? Hmm. At least he hit the hole.

And now for those quotes this week. Some real zingers in this bunch.

“...beautiful execution and reception...”
I half expect someone to hold up score cards next.

“...forced him out...”
Did he overstay his welcome? Bad, bad boy.

“...big blue on top...”
I do like blue. Works for me.

“...they get exposed when asked to perform...”
Must be Chippendales or Thunder from Down Under.

“...trying to get a good hold up...”
I wonder how they practice that? Hey, stick 'em up and catch the ball?

And now for that Doozy of the Week:

“...He goes #2 and puts it right on Jackson...”
I had to rewind and play this one about three times before I got it all without falling over laughing. I can't believe they got away with that one on television. Or they didn't realize how bad it sounded in hindsight. Ouch, now I'm creating my own doozies! Hee hee.

Thanks for reading. Hopefully your team won and if they didn't, well, there's always next week.
Stay tuned for my picks from Week Nine!

More Spooky Smut right here!

Candlelit Magic by Wendi Zwaduk
Part of the Wanton Witches Collection
Total-E-Bound Publishing
Contemporary, Paranormal, M/F, Anal Sex
Novella

Even love witches get the blues.

Havan’s magical potions bring couples together and give them the happily ever after of their dreams. Too bad her spells don’t work for her. In Erie View, the townspeople see nothing more than a witch. All she wants is to find that special man to embrace her quirks and love her. Will she be able to accept the blessings of the Goddesses or lose faith in herself?

Neil doesn’t believe in magic. It’s trickery for television and movies. No one creates a spell for people to fall in love. Hell, he doesn’t even believe in love. After a string of crappy dates and dead-end romances, he’s through with relationships. But a chance meeting at the grocery store changes his mind. Havan’s nothing like he expects—but is the blue haired witch enough to make him give romance another shot?

EXCERPT:

“Havan?”
The witch stood beside the car, the light from the street lamp illuminating her hair. She didn’t look at him, but didn’t move. So tiny and lonely next to the big vehicle. His heart broke. He’d been an ass to her and he needed to make things up to her.
“Havan.” Neil stopped beside her. He tugged her into his arms and stroked her hair. She felt so good in his embrace, perfect. “I’m so sorry, Havan. I’m not even sure what I want to say, but I like you.” He kissed the top of her head and closed his eyes. Her various bracelets and earrings jangled like sweet music in his head. He could hold her forever. “I’m sorry I’m being too pushy and pressing too hard. I’m a thirty-five-year-old construction worker who knows shit about dating, but I’m willing to learn. Give me another chance?”
She smoothed one hand up his chest, resting her palm over his heart. “You’re a good man,” she whispered. “You’re trying too hard and crushing me.”
“Because I like you.” He cupped her jaw in one hand and swiped his thumb over her cheek. Her eyes shone with unshed tears and she licked her bottom lip. He liked her more than he understood.
Neil lowered his mouth to hers and tasted her. She moaned beneath him and gripped his jacket, but didn’t pull away. From his head to his toes, his body vibrated. His skin tingled and when he opened his eyes for just a moment, he could’ve sworn she glowed. Did witches glow when they were turned on? He closed his eyes and tangled his tongue with hers. Something powerful passed between them and he never wanted to let her go.
After less than one date and a chance meeting at the shop, he’d fallen more than a little in love with her. Bullshit. Love didn’t happen that fast. But something had changed. The potion? No, he hadn’t drunk it. Had she spoken magical words? He doubted she’d said anything like that. She didn’t seem to believe in herself enough to try something devious.
Still, he refused to deny his attraction to her. He wanted more dates with her and to explore every inch of her delectable body. Now he had to hope she wanted the same thing from him.
~~
Havan melted into his arms. He made bad jokes, but lots of people insulated themselves with insults against what they didn’t understand. Having a witch in town certainly left her open to being the object of ridicule. But he seemed to be different. Neil, despite all his faults, seemed to care. She clutched the sides of his coat and sighed into his kiss. The fever came over her again and she held him tighter. Venus must’ve smiled down on her or predetermined that she belonged to Neil. Couldn’t have been the potion. Could it?
Havan pulled away from him and stared into Neil’s blue eyes. His cheeks were flushed and his lips parted. “Come home with me.”

* * * * *

What does Neil thing Havan did to make him fall for her?
A. Use a potion
B. Speak magical words
C. Unspoken magic
D. All of the above

And now a white hot excerpt!

“I wanted to thank you in person for the candle. It’s very pretty.” He snapped his lips shut. Damn it. He sounded stupid. “I don’t know what I’ll use it for, but they make the house smell nice.” Shit.
She stared at him, but didn’t say anything.
“I suck at small talk.” And apparently trying to sound smooth in front of beautiful women. “What”—Neil picked up a tiny bottle filled with amber liquid—“exactly do you do here? And what is this?”
“I’m a witch.”
Matter-of-fact, no inflection in her voice. Factual and blunt. What would it take to make her smile? Blush? Call out his name when he pumped into her pussy? Oh shit, he needed to get his thoughts away from sex.
He paused a moment to make sure that he’d heard her right. “A witch?”
“Yes, and I make the potions the people in town rave about. I’m not Madame Scarlett and neither is Cian. I thought everyone in town knew, but hey, you might not have. She’s just the name I picked out when my Aunt Siobhan turned the store over to me. Cian likes red, so her hair is red and she lets everyone think she’s Madame.” Havan folded her hands on the glass display case. “I heard you say you wanted something for your sister. I remember her, vaguely. Her then boyfriend came in looking for a love potion. I gave him one and it seems to have worked.”
“Kasen?” The guy had used a love potion? He knew the general story, but to hear Melissa talk, it was love at first sight. The spell or potion or whatever came a lot later.
“Sounds right.” Havan shrugged. “They got what they wanted.”
Well, what do you know? Neil pointed to the bottle with the amber stuff inside. “This? Is this what they used?” He needed to keep her talking.
“Yes.” She wore two rings per hand, each ring set with a huge stone—one in red and one in black. “This one will get you a date and this one will get you forever.” She tapped the top of a black bottle. “Cian claims we have potions for revenge and greed, but they don’t work.”
“Why not?” He picked up one of the black bottles. “If I cast a spell for a negative reason, then that negativity will come back to me threefold. It sucks.” She tucked a lock of darker blue hair behind her ear. A selection of hoop earrings dangled from her ear, starting at the top and following down to her earlobe. “I learnt my lesson a long time ago. Don’t cast what you can’t handle.” For the first time since he’d seen her, she smiled and laughed. “You will totally regret it.”
“I hear you.” Neil gripped the bottle. The more she talked, the more he wanted to listen to her. His cock pushed against his pants and he mashed the bulge into the front of the display case to ease his ache. “My sister already fell in love, so she doesn’t need this. Think it’ll help me?”
Havan sighed. “It will, but you have to accept whoever is chosen. What you want might not be what you get, but she will be the one your heart truly desires.”
Her words stopped him cold. She wasn’t a thing like he expected and she sure as shit wasn’t his type and yet he couldn’t help but want to see her. “I’ll take it and whatever it was your friend went upstairs to find.”
“Oh. Okay.” Havan wrote up the bill on a receipt pad. “Give her a moment.”
“I will.” Neil clutched the bottle tighter. A witch. No wonder the people around town talked ill of Madame Scarlett’s. No one knew what the hell they were dealing with. But Havan didn’t strike him as a witch. No green skin or huge warts. Maybe he’d been watching too much television. The bracelets on her wrist jangled as she wrote.
“I know my sister was being forward, but I’ve got a question.” He wanted to see her again. Had to. “Would you accompany me to my sister’s wedding?”
“What?” Her eyes widened again, displaying the ring of dark blue surrounding her pupils. The lighter blue flecks sparkled. Would she look at him that way during sex? He hoped so. Hoped she’d give him a chance, too.
“Well, you brought them together.” Stupid, stupid. He took one of the business cards and flipped it over, then wrote his phone number and the date of the wedding. “My name is Neil and I know this is a shitty way to ask you out, but I really am drawn to you.” He slid the card to her. “No strings, but if you’d like to go with me, I’d love to see you.”
