I want a woman who will drive me crazy in every possible way.

If she loved him in return.

Nathan Waterford slammed the door to his navy blue Blazer and strode across the asphalt into Besta Pizza Around. He smoothed his hand over the lump of bills in his pocket and tucked the insulated pizza bag under his arm.

On a steamy Saturday night in July, he’d rather be in bed with the woman of his dreams, not working to earn a dime he didn’t need. His day job as an estate lawyer paid the bills, but being at the pizza shop got him closer to Courteney, the woman in his heart.

Hell, if he played his cards right, his desires might come to fruition. One day...

Crestline, Ohio wasn’t a teeming metropolis, but Nate and his business partner, Arran Mayes aimed to create the best little restaurant in the quiet farming community. The scent of tomatoes and yeast swirled around Nate, making his stomach rumble. When did I eat last?

Behind the bar, Arran stood drying a beer stein. “Well, you got your wish, my friend.”

As he slapped the silver bag onto the polished wooden bar, Nate glanced at the remaining patrons in the dining room. A couple giggled in the corner booth, while a trio of students wolfed down the last few slices of pizza at the round table under the window. Good times. He remembered being so carefree, before he had to become a man and work for a living.

“And you’re talking about what?” Nate shook his head and leaned on the bar rail. “Get me up to speed.”

Arran sighed and plunked the glass onto the towel. “You missed drama involving your girl.”

His wish? His girl?

Confused, Nate stared at his ruddy-haired friend. If his memory served him, Courteney Bennett belonged to no man. Nate had seriously considered making a play for the saucy little romance writer. From her chocolate-coloured tresses and her consuming mocha eyes, down her curvy body to the tips of her toes, he longed to make her his. He itched to grasp her hips while driving into her from behind. She turned him on like no other.

Thank God the bar covered the tent in his jeans.

“Don’t look at me like you’re surprised.” Rolling his eyes, Arran picked up a wide mouth wine goblet. “As you know, Courteney and Byron split two months ago. Well, he came back to—” he hooked his fingers in the air, “—make things right.” Arran snorted. “His version of making things right meant parading his new girlfriend, Amber something-or-another, right under Court’s nose. The jerk.”

Ten Line Tuesday!

How about ten lines from an oldie, but a goodie? Yeah! Ten lines from Must Be Doing Something Right. Want a copy? Get yours here!

And now for those ten lines!

“Sex under a streetlight is risky. You never know who’s watching.” He propped his chin on the top of her head. “Not that I know about such childish behaviour.”

“Uh-huh.” She snorted. “And I’m a twenty-seven-year-old virgin.”

“Then I guess we both have secrets to hide.” As he rubbed his cheek over her hair, he chuckled. “How do you feel about this? I think it’s pretty good material for your next short story.”

Her heart pounded behind her ribs. ‘This’, meaning her ex and another woman having sex, or ‘this’, meaning her reaction to Nate being close, yet so out of bounds?

“Seeing Byron screwing around with someone else doesn’t bother me. Hell, that’s how I found him the day we split.” Smoothing her left hand over their intertwined fingers, she caressed his knuckles. “I can probably turn this into something, but…” she trailed off, afraid to say more.

Lovestruck Hop ~ Must Be Doing Something Right

The point of this hop is to talk about those books that just totally grabbed us. The ones that made us fall in love with the characters. I'd love for one of my books to be like that for you. Which book made me fall head over heels? One of my all-time favorite books. Regularly Scheduled Life by KA Mitchell. There was something about those guys that drew me in and kept me right there with them. I laughed, cried and wanted to kick them at times, but I couldn't put the book down.

Here's a little bit about the book:

Sean and Kyle have enjoyed six perfect years of what their friends called a disgustingly happy relationship. But what happens one sunny morning might be more than even the most loving couple can survive. When the bell rings that morning in chemistry teacher Seans first-period class, a terrifying sound fills the hallsgunshots. Sean runs to tackle the shooter, sustaining a bullet wound to his leg. He is unable to save the lives of the principal and two students. Kyle hears about the shooting on the radio, and in the flash of an instant finds his life irrevocably altered. Everythingespecially his hearthangs suspended in a nightmare until he finds out Sean is alive. Kyles just relieved the worst is over. Or is it? Putting that day behind them isnt as simple as it sounds. As Sean struggles to make something positive out of the tragedy, Kyle fights to save their relationship from the dangers of publicityand Seans unwillingness to face how the crisis has changed him.

Available here and here!

What was it about them that stayed with me? First they are totally right for each other and show it all the time. It was sweet to see just how hung up on each other they were.

Another thing was that they were realistic. I've been in situations similar to a school shooting and I could relate to what Sean and Kyle went through. The emotions conveyed were real and I felt them like I was right there. This line got to me:

"I kept thinking that I didn't do enough. Survivor's guilt or whatever they call it. But whatever it was I let it become the most important thing in my life. And that's where I fucked up."

It's a very pivotal moment where I got to see just what made Sean tick and how the pain was destroying his life. I wanted to step in and save him.

I've told you about my lovestruck book. I want to know who has left you lovestruck? Leave that in the comments along with your name and your email and you're in the hopper for the pdf of Must Be Doing Something Right. I'd love it if  you followed me on twitter, facebook, the blog, but I don't expect it for you to win. You do it because you want to.

The contest ends June 22nd at midnight, so act now. I'll announce the winner right here on the blog on June 23rd as well as I'll email the winner!

So you can keep going, here's the linky code for the rest of the hop:

Sunday Snoggin' with Nate and Courteney

Sunday Snoggin'. Gotta love this time of the week. Hot kisses, hot men... great times. I thought I'd do another blast from the past story, Must Be Doing Something Right, featuring Nate and Courteney.

Contemp, m/f, bdsm, anal sex, voyeurism
Available here!
If she can open her heart, she'll find he's her naughtiest dream come true. Being mischievous with him is exactly what she needs.

Nate Waterford knows exactly who he wants in his bed and his heart, but he's on guard. When women find out his profession, they see dollar signs. He's been hurt by gold diggers and he's not about to fall in love - until he sees Courteney. She's his fantasy come to life and once he gets her in his arms, he'll be damned before he considers letting her go. Unless she tells him to go to hell first...

Despite her success as a fledgling romance author, Courteney Bennett's had her share of bad relationships. She's attracted to her best guy friend, Nate, and she's not ready to throw a friendship away for one night of passion - even if his idea of desire puts the hottest scenes in her erotica stories to shame.

Is her heart a fair price to pay for an evening to remember or will it be the biggest mistake of her life?

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes including strong language, bondage, anal sex and voyeurism.

“Yes, little one. Tell me you like this.” Nate lifted the hem of the garment, baring her cotton-covered ass to the cooler air in the office. “I want you.”

She froze for a split-second before going with the feeling. “Then take me.” Little one? Yes, she wanted to be his little one, his heart, his soul. His everything. The steel behind his zipper stabbed the small of her back. He wanted her. A fresh sizzle of heat zipped up her spine.

As she turned in his arms, she smoothed her hands up his chiselled chest. His flat nipples puckered beneath her palms. Did he work out every day? A thought occurred to her—what did he do besides work at the restaurant? When he squeezed her ass in his large hand, she moaned and forgot her train of thought.

Nate cupped the back of her skull and kissed her, eliciting another whimper. Long fingers tugged on the waistband of her panties. She closed her eyes. Of all the times to wear the sensible underwear! The sound of ripping fabric split the air. She gasped as cool air danced over her slick pussy lips.

Enjoy!

Monday Moans ~ Must Be Doing Something Right

I thought for today's Monday Moan, I'd take a step back to an early work. Later today I'll have a guest, so for those early birds, here's Must Be Doing Something Right. I wanted to write something with voyeurism and Courtney and Nate obliged. Can't blame them.

Here's the vital stats:
Must Be Doing Something Right
Total-E-Bound
Lust Bite
m/f, bdsm , voyeurism, anal sex
Available here!

And now for the moan!!

“You like to watch.”
Her breath caught in her throat. He knew her fetish—one of them. Forget his one-night stands for now. Ignore his tendency to flaunt his sexual prowess. Liquid lust pooled low in her belly and soaked her panties. She might as well jump in head first and clue him in on more. “I do.”
She placed his left palm on her breast to relieve the delicious ache. She squirmed in his arms. Men like Nate didn’t fall for women like her, but she refused to think about the severity of the situation. If the light of the morning sun reflected the poor judgement of their behaviour, she’d deal with it. For now, she’d relish in the heat of his arms.
As his smooth lips danced over her earlobe, she shivered. His mouth should’ve been labelled as a registered weapon.
“Then watch and let me make you feel good.” He nipped her neck, sending a fever crashing through her system. His husky voice warmed her to the core. “I like to watch, too.”
Rational thought left her brain. She wanted—no, needed—to feel. She backed into him, rubbing her ass over the bulge in his jeans. A ripple of lust surged through her veins. If she moved a little to the side, his cock would touch right where she wanted him.
Nate’s long fingers pinched and plucked her nipple through the fabric of her bra and tunic. A sigh escaped her lips. If she gave him free rein, she’d find heaven in his arms.
With each cry echoing from the parking lot, Courteney’s control splintered. She didn’t want to watch any longer. She wanted to participate—with Nate.
“Ever made love on the boss’s desk?”

Three Great Reviews!!!

now I just had and author thank me for a review I'd written and she made a couple really good points. For example, she said many authors wait with nervous energy to see what the reviewer will say about his/her work. We want acceptance and approval for our work. Sometimes it's great. Other times its not so great. I had another author friend (actually many) tell me they don't read reviews. To some, reviews are there for the readers and shouldn't make a difference to the authors. I'm still not sure where I fall on this spectrum, but, when I opened my email and saw the linky for these three reviews of my work, well....I'm still smiling. :-)

http://dragonsandshiftersandbooks.wordpress.com/2011/06/19/three-to-enjoy/

Like this:

There is such passion and romance in each of these short stories, and they made me feel like these were people I would like to meet and spend more time with. While all three books deal with people in love, each has a different slant on life and romance.

Heck yeah! That's what I (I should say we, as the characters are the ones in charge when I write) was going for!

Ms Zwaduk has a creative imagination and a very descriptive style. The passion jumps off the page at times.

Wow! What a compliment. Made my day!!!

Which books is the reviewer referring to?

Ten Things You Didn't Know About...Must Be Doing Something Right

Gotta roll with a theme, eh? This week, it's Must Be Doing Something Right. Ok, so this was my third story and it was a favorite because I got to ask legal beagle questions.

10. Courteney was originally a librarian with Abby from Learning How to Bend.

9. Nate was originally a trial lawyer, but I don't know too many trial lawyers who deliver pizza...

8. I wrote the story in about a month.

7. I wanted to write a scene with voyeurism. Nate and Courteney shouted, 'we'll do it!'

6. The story went by 'The Lawyer Story' for the longest time because I wasn't sure what the title would be.

5. Arran still doesn't know how many times Nate and Courteney initiated his desk.

4. Courteney's favorite drink is a fuzzy navel. Nate will drink beer, perferrably from Courteney's navel.

3. Courteney started writing erotica to pass the time and to get the characters out of her head and onto the page. Sound familiar? Oh, and Nate is completely for the research portion.

2. Yes, I had that pesky Billy Currington song going through my head a lot while writing this book.

1. The book started out with Nate and another character, but he kept informing me he'd only make love with Courteney. I couldn't tell the guy no, yanno?

Here's the blurb:
If she can open her heart, she’ll find he’s her naughtiest dream come true. Being mischievous with him is exactly what she needs.

Nate Waterford knows exactly who he wants in his bed and his heart, but he’s on guard. When women find out his profession, they see dollar signs. A Review! A Review!

I thought I'd share this with you all. Pretty good, well, I think it is. Seriously Reviewed gave Must Be Doing Something Right 15.5 out of 20. Not bad.

"Cute, Quick and to the point."

"The sex was rockin’"

"Her issues with “men” was plausible so his deception was real and I could understand her issue with it.

All in all, a good short, fast paced read that was worth it :)"

Not to shabby. Not too shabby.

A Review! A Review!

I had to share this because I needed a good word today.

Dark Diva Reviews

Now this was a nice review. Thanks to Deb from Dark Diva Reviews.

Deb's Review :

Must Be Doing Something Right by Wendi Zwaduk is a short spicy treat that will leave you melting as you turn the last page. Courteney and Nate’s story is not lacking in heart or heat. Nothing prepared me for such a delightful story. Courteney, is a fun strong heroine. Any reader can connect with her easily. Being done with men who have done her wrong, should she risk it again? To her surprise, in walks Nate, the one she wants. Being a playboy, could Nate love just her? Anything is possible with her dreams and the man who stars in them.

Nate, sweet, compassionate and rightly handsome just wanted to be liked for himself not his money. His feelings for his best friend Court comes to a head when he spends one unforgettable night in complete undiluted passion with her. . It will be interesting to see where this takes them both. Can these two make it out unscaved after their first round of office sex?

Wendi Zwaduk kept this story flowing nicely. The highlight for me was when Nate and Court truly realized what they were missing. This is a short story that I am proud to say, has made it to my “re-read” list.

If you want a great book to heat up your Summer then pick up Must Be Doing Something Right by Wendi Zwaduk and let the story flow through you.

Rated 5 Delightful Divas by Deb!

Monday Moans

Wendi stepped out of the office for a few hours today and asked one of the boys to write a post for Monday Moans. She said we needed to introduce ourselves, let the readers know who we are, why we're moan-worthy...and to have fun with it. I'm all about having fun. So I chose to go first. Oh, and I exerted my overt dominant tendencies and locked Logan in the closet. For some stranger reason he thought he needed the limelight. And he wonders why I don't carry movies at my store...

Oh, but you're here to meet me. Blushing. I occasionally get ahead of myself.

Who am I? Well, glad you asked. My name is Savion Welles and I am a proud owner of The Feathered Edge Bookseller. Yes, I sell books all day and love the scent of a brand new paperback.

Want to know more?

Good, I'm in a chatty mood. A gentleman doesn't share his age, but I will tell you I am happily involved with the bartender-slash-pizzeria owner of my dreams, Arran Mayes. Oh, and we just got a pair of cats. I tend to let my emotions rule my actions, even though I know it'll get me into trouble. It's a gift.

Now about that bookstore...why a bookstore? Besides having an affection for the scent of ink and paper (sounds a bit kinky, doesn't it?), I love the written word. There is something beautiful aboout being able to describe the exact moment a kiss happens, to feel the texture of his lips, to hear the rumble of his strained voice, and scent of desire in the air. Sigh.

I need to hunt down Arran.

But before I go... where can you find me? You need to read Learning How to Bend and Must Be Doing Something Right. You'll find me eventually.

Enjoy your day and make sure you read a book (in addition to this post).

~Sav

Arran's Story Is In!

You may be wondering what I'm talking about. Worry no more. :P I turned in the finished MS for Arran's story, Tangled Up. This is my second foray into menage, but the first into M/M. For those of you grossed out, then stop reading. I wrote the characters the way they told me to.

This is the story that follows Must Be Doing Something Right and Learning How to Bend. Funny, Nate from Must shows up in Tangled Up, but Seth and Abby really don't other than a mention.

I have to admit, the hardest part of writing this story was making sure Arran and his partner, Sav, didn't sound campy unless they were trying to. I've found, when reading M/M stories, that lots of times the authors will make the gay men sound... campy. Yes, I know, some are more effeminate than others... just saying. Arran and Sav are comfortable with who they are and still--their words, not mine--manly men. :::Shrugs:::

But since Tangled Up is done and in the editor's hands, I'm going to tackle the edits and rewrites on my farmer, as well as finish the ghost hunter story and give Megan a hand on her vampire stories.

Yeah, I'm a busy girl. :) But I love it.

The Men Take Over

Hee hee hee... I begged Wendi to let us play on the blog today since she's busy. Muwhahaha, she has no idea what her heroes are up to.

So, who are we? You've met me, but I love to talk and show off. Logan Malone's the name, charming is my game... but my one true love is Cass Jensen.

On my left is Seth Donovan. He's not much of a talker, but he's a good guy. He fixes C-130's. I've never been in one other than to walk through, but it sounds freaking cool.

On his left is his buddy Nate Waterford. He owns THE BEST pizza shop in Ohio, Besta Pizza Around. But I'll let them talk.

Seth: I have no idea what to say. Give me a wrench and I'm good. Better yet, give me my wife, Abby and I'm golden. Nate, come take this...

Nate: Hiya. Sorry Seth, I know you're not happy in the spotlight. But I am. So what'cha want to know? I work part time as a lawyer and most of my time chasing a sexy romance writer around my restaurant... Wendi? No, sorry, I love her dearly, but my heart belongs to Courteney. I have to help Courteney realize that I love her. Ah... but it'll happen. I can feel it. Now, we aren't the only three here. Logan's dying to take control, but I won't let him. Ha! I'll pass this on to Cade and Rhett. Like Seth, Cade's not much of a talker, but Rhett? He'll yak your ear off.

Cade: Hi... I'm not sure what to say. I love my nascar and watching my girl, Melanie take pictures. She's good at capturing people at ease and making them look pretty.

Logan: Hee hee, you said pretty. I didn't think you had a soft bone on your body.

Cade: They look nice. Dammit, Rhett, take over. I'm out.

Rhett: Excuse my pal. He's not good with crowds. If its possible for a guy to be a wallflower, it's Cade. Now me? I love women, all women. He's the type to settle down. Me? Never! Not where there is a great big ole world full of beautiful girls and one of me. (Wriggling brows). Hey, girls like my tats and my muscles, why let them down? They don't want pretty boys like Logan or billion-dollar boys like Nate. Pftft.

Nate and Logan: Them's fightin' words.

Rhett: Nah, takes too much effort from the chase. When that one woman who may exist wants to tie me down, I'll make it worth her while to finally catch me.

Logan: We'd have invited Storm, but he's sleeping right now. Something about having to recharge his batteries. Says he's a vampire, but I've never seen the fangs and I've known him for over two years. (Shrugs) Oh well.
Ack! I see Wendi coming. I know, she said we could play, but I know she doesn't want us to fight.

Gotta go!

Bye from all the boys!

The Tour Continues and Some Handsome News!

The tour indeed continues. I'm over at My Reading Addiction. Come on over and comment. You just might win and discover new stories you just might NEED to read.

But at the same time, the cover fairy dropped by my door last night and woweee! I was blessed. I wanted to share my new cover for my upcoming short story Must Be Doing Something Right, the follow-up to Learning How to Bend. I hope you enjoy it. I sure am.
