Never Forget

I posted this over at Total-E-Bound's blog, since today's my day, but I thought I'd put it here, too.

~~~
I'm going to start out with this since this is a symbolic day. This date marks a time when a lot of us had to grow up. A time when a lot of us realized that all the things we hold dear can be gone in a matter of moments. September 11th reminds me of sitting in the seventh grade art class I taught, trying to explain to a room full of scared 12-13 yr olds that bad things happen to good people and we'd be safe. I hoped anyway. We sat and cried and tried to make sense of the things we saw on television. I'll never forget. I can't say I've lost any good friends because of date, but at least one of my stories has been inspired by a friend who has served multiple times in Iraq.
"Dance like no one's watching and love like there's no tomorrow."
~~
On to the rest of my post...
I'm not necessarily new to the Total-E-Bound family. I have three books out now with them. But to the blog? I'm a newbie. *Grin*
I'm a mom, wife, cleaning lady (ever stepped on those stupid Star Wars Figures at 3 AM? Don't. It's not fun.), erotica author, chauffeur, sounding board, CSI:Miami and chocolate addict, and race fan.
How'd I get started writing dirty little stories? Glad you asked.
Back in the day, saying the word S-E-X was a dirty word. Yeah, like back in the '50's. Sadly, that idea stuck around the household I grew up in. Yes, 1997 and S-E-X was still a dirty word. At the same time, I watched General Hospital. Really exciting stuff. I thought to myself, gee, they talk about sex all the time, have lots of sex, and no one seems offended. Maybe that dirty nasty thing I'd been taught to stay away from wasnt' so bad after all.
You might be thinking I went off the rails at this point. Sadly, no. I'm too anal retentive to really act crazy. I waited like a good little late bloomer.
Once I came to the conclusion that my lips wouldn't fall off because I said cock or because I thought the horizontal mambo was fun... I ran with it. I have the best research partner who loves to help me work out the mechanics of a love scene.
Now that I'm off the leash, I'm having more fun and more comfortable in my own skin. Life is good.
Friday Flirts and the Final Stop
First of all, I'm heading over to Isabel Roman's for the Final stop on my blog tour. **Le sigh** I love the tour. Love promoting my work. Kinda sad to see it end. But then again, it's good because I need a short respite to work on other things.
So stop by http://authorisabelroman.blogspot.com/ for a chance to win a copy of My Immortal.
And since you're already out and about, go over to Menagerie Authors. My dear friend Megan Slayer is doing her weekly post and would love you to say hi!
And since I'm on a roll.... I've started working hardcore on the threesome story. Parker, Jacoby, and Juniper saw a picture on the 'net courtesy of Kealie and screamed. Hey, I can't hold them back all the time. So, once I'm done here posting and twittering and FBing and commenting... I'm going back to playing with the threesome. It's niiiiiiicccceeeee.
So he's done....
He? He who?
OH, you want to know which he I refer to. Hee hee.
I'm talking about my Greek. Yes, I finished the first draft of his story. It was sorta hard because I didn't use contractions because I have no idea how Ancient Greeks talked and though I'd suppose they used contractions, it didn't sound right. Then again, I never really thought stories set in say, Ancient Rome sound right when the antagonist uses the word F**k. Did they actually use that word? If someone can prove they did, I'll amend my statement.
Anyway, so the first draft of my Greek is done. The challenge in him was not only to keep away from the contractions, but to actually write a historical. I've been infatuated with Ancient Greece since college when I took a whole bunch of Greek Art classes. Thankfully that group of folks bathed and used razors. You'd be surprised who in history chose to forgo baths and hygiene. ::Shudder::
But I need to get back to him and fill his story out with world building and some more of the five senses.
Then I'll try to tackle the idea for the follow-up vampire story and the next story in my Besta Pizza series. Oh yeah, I can't turn off my brain even when I want to.
But I'm off for now. I need to get a couple of other things done.
Toodles.
So the More I Thought... the More I Parlayed It Into an Idea
Location: Hiding in my cat room (long story)
Tunes: 867-5309(jenny) on the iPod
As if I don't have enough on my plate, when I couldn't sleep last night, I came up with another idea for a story.
People might say I'm a masochist. They'd be right. At the moment, I have at least 4 stories going, 1 super short, and 2 subbed. You'd think I'd give myself a moment to breathe. You'd be wrong.
The more I thought about the post from the other day about high school and where I am now, the more I think it'd make an interesting story. Not like a this is me and this is my story, but if I could do it again or maybe if I wasn't married and I went back for the big 15, what it might be like. (BTW, I'm Class of '97, so 2012 would be my 15 year reunion.)
Thinking I might just have to write the idea down... well, once this Blackhawk song is over.
Any Snow?
Some days it feels like I'm being snowed under and I don't mean that fluffy white stuff outside.
I have a great set of Cp's. I love them, really, I do. And I love working with them.
But they aren't the problem.
Nope. It's my overactive imagination. Do you have one of those? I do. I have one of those little (actually three or four) notebooks to write down my ideas. But my issue is that I want to work on those ideas. I want to see them go from just an idea on a page to a full story, to published...
Seems like there aren't enough hours in the day.
But, my holiday shopping is done. Yup. I finished two days after I started. Oh, I love to shop--don't get me wrong--but I knew what I wanted and planned where to get it. And most of what my loved ones wanted wasn't on sale on Black Friday.
Oh I have I few little things extra to get...stamps...a secret Santa gift...a teacher gift...but that's easy peasy...
But right now, I have about five ideas fighting for attention in my head and a DH who's complaining I need to 'pencil him in'... geesh...
How's things with you all? I'd love to know.
Toodles.
