I want a woman who will drive me crazy in every possible way.

If only she loved him in return.

Nathan Waterford slammed the door to his navy blue Blazer and strode across the asphalt into Besta Pizza Around. He smoothed his hand over the lump of bills in his pocket and tucked the insulated pizza bag under his arm.

On a steamy Saturday night in July, he’d rather be in bed with the woman of his dreams, not working to earn a dime he didn’t need. His day job as an estate lawyer paid the bills, but being at the pizza shop got him closer to Courteney, the woman in his heart.

Hell, if he played his cards right, his desires might come to fruition. One day...

Crestline, Ohio wasn’t a teeming metropolis, but Nate and his business partner, Arran Mayes aimed to create the best little restaurant in the quiet farming community. The scent of tomatoes and yeast swirled around Nate, making his stomach rumble. When did I eat last?

Behind the bar, Arran stood drying a beer stein. “Well, you got your wish, my friend.”

As he slapped the silver bag onto the polished wooden bar, Nate glanced at the remaining patrons in the dining room. A couple giggled in the corner booth, while a trio of students wolfed down the last few slices of pizza at the round table under the window. Good times. He remembered being so carefree, before he had to become a man and work for a living.

“And you’re talking about what?” Nate shook his head and leaned on the bar rail. “Get me up to speed.”

Arran sighed and plunked the glass onto the towel. “You missed drama involving your girl.”

His wish? His girl?

Confused, Nate stared at his ruddy-haired friend. If his memory served him, Courteney Bennett belonged to no man. Nate had seriously considered making a play for the saucy little romance writer. From her chocolate-coloured tresses and her consuming mocha eyes, down her curvy body to the tips of her toes, he longed to make her his. He itched to grasp her hips while driving into her from behind. She turned him on like no other.

Thank God the bar covered the tent in his jeans.

“Don’t look at me like you’re surprised.” Rolling his eyes, Arran picked up a wide mouth wine goblet. “As you know, Courteney and Byron split two months ago. Well, he came back to—” he hooked his fingers in the air, “—make things right.” Arran snorted. “His version of making things right meant parading his new girlfriend, Amber something-or-another, right under Court’s nose. The jerk.”

From the Three’s a Charm Anthology
Short Story

Contemporary

Two hot rockers and one girl…what could go wrong?

Robbie thought when he formed his band he’d get the girls, the gigs and the money. He’s got the gigs, but the money is a little slower in coming. He’s also got more than a few secrets. He wants the band to succeed, but even more, he wants to find the one woman who can accept him—warts and all, but also with his best friend Dillon involved.

Dillon loves Robbie like a brother. Robbie’s his other half in the music world. He handles the words while Robbie writes the music for the band. But all the music in the world isn’t enough if they don’t have their perfect third—Jess. She hits all the right notes for him and Robbie. The only issue? She may not accept their love in return.

Jess has followed the band for years and worked her way up to selling their merchandise. She knows their music almost as well as they do, but doubts they’d want to be with her. She’s so unlike the other women they’ve had—she’s short, curvy and a purple-haired Goth. When Robbie and Dillon hang out with her after one of the gigs, she has a choice to make. Either head home and wonder or let go of her fears and give the two men of her dreams the chance to make her fantasies come to life.

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of double penetration.

Publisher's Note: This book has previously been released as part of the Three's a Charm anthology with Totally Bound Publishing.

“What if we asked her out? We’ve been dancing around it forever. You want her. I do. She likes hanging out with us and she never shies away when we kiss her.” He met Robbie’s gaze. “I’m serious. What if we were the ones who took the first step?”
“And say what?” Robbie frowned. “I like her and would love to snag her between us, but what do we say? ‘Hey, babe. We’ve chosen you. How about it? Do you want to be with us?’ She’d laugh and walk out. What about saying she’d be better off with us on either side? She’d think we were going to use her. She deserves better than a couple of rock and roll wannabes.”
“Well, yeah.” Dillon snorted. “If we approach her like that, then I’d be shocked if she didn’t run away. Finesse would be good.” He rested his arm on Robbie’s shoulder. “Think about it. She’s got that Goth, funky but beautiful look to her. She’s never balked at our behavior, either. She’s a little rough, but dependable.”
“She’s a good worker, sure, but you make her sound like a set of tires.” Robbie shrugged. “I’d love to ask her out, but I’m afraid she’d turn me down. You know me and my life. I’m no good for her. Besides, if she said yes, then how can I be sure she’d consider both of us? I’m not in the mood to put myself out there only to be turned down again. I’d rather be alone.”
“We won’t know until we try.” Dillon hadn’t realized how deep Elaine’s leaving had messed with Robbie until that moment. He hadn’t thought Robbie and Elaine were going to go the distance, but he hadn’t expected her to be so rotten. He’d never heard Robbie mention being happier alone. Robbie was a relationship kind of guy. Then again, so was he. Hell, for all he knew, she could be the one. A vision of her snuggled up between them came to mind. He longed to run his fingers through her purple hair and kiss her breathless. Tingles surged through his body—the thrill of playing music mixed with his desire for Jess. Oh, shit. He only felt that way when he picked up his guitar. Yeah, it was time to speak up.
“Then why don’t we talk to her and try to figure this out…after we play music?”

Excerpt:

Leanne finished tying the strap of her bikini top, stomach rioting with butterflies, a permanent grin on her face.
Oh, you besotted fool. Chill the fuck out.
In the bathroom mirror, she scrutinized the red bikini and the small stretch marks across her tummy that she still loved because they reminded her of Beau. She cringed at the darker and more prevalent marks across her hips and over her ass. Not the perfect markings a man might want his lover to have.
What the hell. Jay hadn’t minded them last night, and she didn’t want to dwell on them now. He’d promised lighthearted fun and having a good time. Those were two things she needed in her life right now. Thoughts of tomorrow, a week away or six months down the road, weren’t to be discussed or pondered. The here and now was what mattered.
And what woman in their right mind wouldn’t love to have one of the hottest and sexiest models on her arm wherever she went? Leanne laughed, a foreign sound to her, but happiness bloomed inside her.
After admiring herself once more, she turned the doorknob and strode into the living room. Jay’s eyes lit up seeing her. Her breath caught in her throat as his gaze darkened and heat arced its way through the air, surrounding her. Body tingling, she lifted the sundress in her hands and drew it over her head. While she didn’t mind his eyes following her, or lounging on a beach, there was no way she’d stroll through the hotel on full display for everyone to see.
“Damn, had to cover that glorious skin, didn’t you?” Jay wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her lips.
“The hotel guests won’t want to see me half-naked, thank you very much.” She grinned up at him, her fingers brushing his chin. “As much as I love you looking at me, I’m not that adventurous.”
“Hm.” He hauled her in tight. So tight, the hardness in his shorts poked against her. She smiled, thrilled she had such an effect on him. “Yes. Good idea. But my reasons are selfish. I don’t want other men setting eyes on your hot bod.” He slid his hands down her spine and cupped her ass. “I claim it as all mine.”
She kissed his chin, loving the fun and his sexy words, then stepped back. “Well, a man has never claimed me like that. I kinda love it.” She winked, grabbed her shoulder bag off the hook, and strode to the door.
Jay followed close behind. He slung an arm over her shoulder as they walked to the elevator and kissed her cheek. “I need to stop in my room, change, and grab beach stuff.”
Leanne pressed the down button and nodded. “Why don’t I meet you in the lobby? I’d like to grab water and snacks, unless you need a huge breakfast? Or a few snacks from the kitchen?”
He led her into the elevator when the doors opened and pressed the button for the third floor. “Sounds great. I shouldn’t be long. Just make sure you’re waiting for me, woman.”
Leanne snickered as he backed her into the wall and crowded against her. Her nipples tightened behind her bathing suit, and it almost hurt to breathe. It was as if her body were on fire, stoked and raring to go, and his touch was nearly too much while it soothed her deep.
“I’ll definitely be waiting for you,” she said breathlessly.
Jay groaned and lowered his head to claim her lips. She gripped his biceps as he took her into the decadent abyss of his taste and passion. As though they’d never spent last night making love, her body strained against his; she was more than eager to be with him again. The image of her climbing his body with her legs, settling around his hips, invaded her thoughts.
Leanne clutched his shirt in her fists, desperate to keep him this close as he swirled his tongue inside her mouth, giving all his passion to her. The walls of her pussy clenched. Maybe they should go back to her room for a few hours. Urgency filled her and made her want to sate herself in everything he had to give. Who was she kidding? Even a few hours wouldn’t be enough to satisfy her.
He lifted his head, his breathing deep as he laid his forehead against the wall beside hers. “Jesus, woman, you’re going to fucking kill me. My cock’s so hard, I swear these shorts just grew two sizes too small.”
As if to convince her, his hips shifted, and the length of his dick was very noticeable.
The ding of the elevator rang loud in her ears, and Jay drew away.
He opened both arms, holding the doors apart. His lips red and swollen, he was mussed like a man well loved. Leanne grinned at him.
“Don’t look so pleased with yourself.”
She winked and glanced down at the tent in front of his shorts, then licked her lips.

Presenting: The Nightmares-Series by Sage Marlowe

The Nightmares-Series by Sage Marlowe

What if the old, folkloristic tales are true and nightmares exist? What if a nightmare isn’t just the vivid and frightening scenario our tormented subconscious presents to us as we sleep, but a paranormal being that is as substantial and real as you and I—an incubus, a demon that feeds on human emotions? Could a man fall in love with such a demon, and could the demon love him in return?

Colin Meighan, co-owner of the small but successful gay porn production company Centre Studs is also the company’s biggest star. He sports a pretty exterior, but there’s more to him than meets the eye. Too young to know the full extent of what he is, he has to learn that the world he lives in isn’t what it seems. There are powers at work that exceed everything he’s ever believed in and the lines between nightmare and reality become blurred as he discovers the truth about himself and his gruesome heritage.

This, in short, is what the Nightmares – Series is about, but there’s more to it. A lot more. A cast of intriguing, likeable and mysterious characters takes you on a ride with more twists and turns than the average rollercoaster. Hot sex is more than just fun for these guys—it’s vital. And yet, while one man alone can never be enough for demon Colin, romance and love are far from dead.

Try the Nightmares but be warned: they’re addictive and will possibly—probably—leave you sweating, tossing and turning in your bed…or wherever you choose to read them.

Here’s the beginning of A Nightmare Come True, Book One in the Nightmares Series, to whet your appetite (Copyright Sage Marlowe, 2013):

When the day I was supposed to meet Colin Meighan finally arrived, I still couldn’t believe my luck. I was dying to meet the man in person, so, unsurprisingly, I arrived early at the address Uncle Tony had given me. It was a somewhat run-down former warehouse and far from the sexy and glamorous location I’d been expecting to find.
My uncle Tony, who always knew someone who knew someone, had set me up for a job. "It’s cash in hand," he’d told me, shielding me from my mother’s suspicious glances. "A fairly good rate, too, as long as you’re willing to keep your eyes shut for some of the time."
It had been our monthly family gathering and I, true to form, had arrived with the news of having been sacked once again. Just what did it say about me that my mother hadn’t even seemed surprised and my father, who once upon a time would have considered this a perfect reason to warm my hide, had just shrugged and continued to pick at his food?
"What exactly does this job involve?" I’d asked under my breath, watching my parents’ wordless argument.
"A bit of everything," Tony had replied. "It’s a low-budget film production and they just need a capable pair of hands to help move around equipment, put up lights and screens and stuff like that. I’ve done it a few times myself, but I’m busy that day."
Young and naïve as I was, the words 'film production' had blocked out the adjective 'low-budget' by far, but it hadn’t been until I’d cornered Tony on the doorstep, when he’d been about to leave, that I had managed to extract further information on the film production in question.
"Gay porn," he’d said, smirking. "But don’t worry, the guys keep their hands to themselves—or each other, anyway. You won’t need to watch the action either. Just turn around when you’re done with your part of the job."
I hadn’t pointed out the double-entendre in his last sentence. He certainly hadn’t suggested I turn around and show my butt to some of the hottest guys in Britain. Pursuing the topic of gay porn or even gay sex any further wouldn’t have been wise at the best of times, but on the doorstep of my father’s house, jobless and on the wrong page of my father’s books, it could have rendered me homeless within minutes.
Of course, my sexual orientation had always been a well kept secret at our home. My parents knew but the rest of the family remained in the dark, so dear Uncle Tony probably thought nothing of sending me to the set of a porn film. Little did he know that it was like asking an eight-year old to help guard a candy store. When he’d mentioned the name of the production company, Centre Studs, I’d barely been able to stop myself punching the air in victory. Centre Studs was a small company and a lightweight compared to the big overseas porn industry, but they made high quality films using the nation’s finest gay porn stars. And for me, when it came to gay porn stars, there was no one better or hotter than Colin Meighan.
The inside of the building kept the promise its outside had given. Bare stone walls, naked, chipped and paint-stained concrete floors and cheap, too bright overhead lights. I was a guy and it didn’t take much to get me in the mood, but somehow I’d imagined the location for a porn film shoot to have just a tad more of a sexy atmosphere.
I was one of the first to arrive. There was another guy with a ponytail who was busy glaring at his smartphone, two cameramen and one man who was busy taping a large microphone to a rod.
"Hi there," I greeted no one in particular and no one in particular responded. The only replies I got from the four men were muffled grunts and a mumbled "Hello."
I went to the man with the ponytail. "Hi, I’m Mike. Mike Fawkes."
Tapping away on his phone, he barely looked up. "Peter Evans. Call me Pete. I’m the producer-slash-director-slash-casting agent. Any questions, talk to me."
"Yeah, all right." I let my gaze travel across the run-down film set. A super king-size bed was tucked into a corner, which was probably for the best as it didn’t look inviting. Its stripped mattress wore a multitude of stains in different shades—fading scars that had been earned in countless battles. An old-fashioned but large sofa sat in the middle of the room, its faded green corduroy covering threadbare in places. No, they didn’t put much effort into an appealing location. "So, this is where the action’s gonna happen, huh?" I observed, mainly just to say something.
Pete glanced at me. The corners of his eyes were wrinkled in a half-smile. "Yeah. You’re early."
"Well, yes. I figured it might be better if I came early."
A soft chuckle right behind me made my back tingle. "Sweetheart, in this business it’s never good to come early."
Pete looked past me and grinned. "You took the words right out of my mouth. Hi, Colin. You’re a bit early yourself."
"Yeah, I know," Colin drawled. He moved past me and leaned in to Pete who tilted his head. For a moment I thought he’d kiss him full on the mouth, then Colin turned the motion into a quick peck on the cheek, but it was too late.
A scene from the film I’d watched last night in anticipation of the meeting interfered with reality and a dirty fantasy began to unwind in my mind. I imagined Colin greeting me with a kiss, only that ours would be open mouths and tongue-touching and all. Blood shot into my dick, fast enough to make me dizzy. Fool that I was, I’d come prepared to meet the star of my dreams, but nothing had prepared me for Colin’s enormous sex appeal. On camera he was sexy as sin, off camera he was Viagra on legs. He wore tight-fitting, ripped blue jeans and a pale grey, long-sleeved T-shirt. The fabric of the latter was so soft that it not only hugged the curves of his pectoral muscles—I could also easily make out the shape of the nipple piercing underneath.

So I Was Talking to a Friend...

I have lots of author friends and one complained to me the other day that "Promotion is SOOOOOOOOOOOO expensive."

I agree. If you want to go all-out, you can spend a ton on promotion. I'm sure the high dollar stuff works, too. I mean, if it works for Nora Roberts and Danielle Steele, then it'll work for you--right?

On the flipside, I've seen some truly awful homemade promotional items. Sure, you can make some stuff on your own and do well. I'm not knocking making things on your own because it's cheaper. I'm all for it. But beware. Sometimes (many times) it shows that you made it yourself. Sometimes, if it's not done right, homemade can look a little...er...tacky.

So what's my point? There are some ways out there to get quality promotional tool on the cheap(er). We all want to save some bucks.

I have a suggestion that will not only help get you cost effective and very professional promo, but will help improve your writing.

Become a reviewer for The Long and Short of It Romance Reviews.

Not only do you get to READ ebooks that are out or coming soon, you get to see what's hot, what's being published, and what kinds of things epublishers are looking for. Ask any author and they will tell you tip #1 for becoming a better writer is to READ. There you go. And by writing the review, you'll find you're better at seeing what works in a story, what doesn't work, and what was hot.

Also: when you turn in reviews, you get points. Each review is worth one point or one dollar in advertising with LASR or Goddess Fish Promotions. They've created my banners, my website, my book videos, heck even my cover for my free reads.

And let me tell you, even $10 in promo can really add up. It really doesn't take that long to read and review a story, especially if you like the story. And you don't have to read erotic only. You can read for the non-erotic or even the young adult site, or ALL THREE!

Okay, so now that I've talked your ear off (or made your eyes cross, however you look at it), where can you go to get more information or to sign up?

FAQ's about reviewing for The Long and the Short of It

Are the reviewers paid?

Not in actual currency--all reviewers are strictly volunteers. BUT: you get to keep all the books you review--both eformat and print (some of which may be autographed). We also have an incentive program that includes gift certificates, free books from our library, free advertising and more.

What type of books does The Long and the Short of It review?

We review short stories and full length novels with strong romantic elements -- both erotic and non-erotic. We do plan on adding other genres in the future.
Do I have to review erotic romance? Can I only review erotic romance?

You're welcome to review whatever you like -- you're the one who chooses what you review! If you only enjoy sci-fi romance, that's what you may select. If you prefer inspirational, then you may review only inspirational. If you only like erotic romance... go for it! We never assign reviews.
What do you expect from your reviews?

Our reviews are positive (no snark allowed), honest (yes, you can mention things you didn't care for as long as the overall review is a good one), casual and conversational. It is also critical and informative. Don't just tell us you liked something, tell us why as specifically as possible.
We don't like to give away too much plot, but you can give a brief summary and then make your points about theme, character, style, etc. Your sample reviews should follow the length, style, tone of the site --- that's why the best thing to do before reviewing is to thoroughly read the reviews and features on our sites.
Our reviews usually run 250-500 words, but can be longer (preferably not too much shorter).
Do you require your reviewers to read a certain number of books per month?

We request you read/review a minimum of 2 books or short stories per month -- though we welcome it if you read more! You may review books from our requests database or books you've purchased or borrowed on your own.
Is there a turnaround time for a review to be written?

We prefer that all reviews are completed within 1 month of requesting the story/book. There are always exceptions, but that is our standard guideline.
Are the reviews edited?

All reviews go through a basic editing process. Our editors will change or correct any poor grammar, sentence structure, etc., while remaining true to the original review's content. If any more in-depth changes are needed, you'll be contacted by an editor requesting said changes.
Are International reviewers welcome?

Provided they are comfortable with writing in English, yes. Of course, only eBooks will be offered for them to review due to postage costs.
I'm sold! How do I apply?

If you are interested in reviewing for us, please send us an email with a sample book review of a title you've recently read and enjoyed. Please feel free to take a look at our reviews to get an idea of what we're looking for in a review.

I'm a Free Read!

Well, my story is...

You might all remember my kitty shifters and this time I decided to have one bend the rules a little bit. I'd share more, but this is a free and SHORT read, so disclosing too many details would totally blow the story.

What's it called?
Never, Ever Gone

Where can you find it? Here:

You should be able to click on the link or on the cover. If it doesn't work... well, let me know and tell me what you think of Ryan.
