Drinking and Winning ~ Its a PARTY!

drinking and winning giveaway hop

The Pre- Party Giveaway Hop is being hosted by Reading Romances as a preparation for their blogiversary party on March 29!

For my part of the celebration, I'm including not only my favorite drink but an excerpt from my latest novel, When You're With Me.

So what's my favorite drink?

Sweet Wine Slushies
makes six 4-ounce servings
One 750ml bottle sweet, fruity wine, such as moscato or icewine
Fresh orange juice or white grape juice (optional)
Ice cubes (optional)
Orange or strawberry slices, to garnish
Pour the wine into empty ice cube trays. You will need about 2 standard-sized ice cube trays. (Each cube portion is about 1 ounce.) Freeze the wine overnight, or for at least 6 hours.

When ready to serve, place 4 frozen wine cubes in the bowl of a small food processor or a blender. Blend quickly, in sharp bursts, just until the cubes have broken up. They will be soft and flakey to begin with, and it shouldn't take too much processing to turn them into a slush. Don't overprocess; this will turn them into liquid.
Scrape the slush into a martini glass, garnish with a piece of fruit, and serve immediately. Repeat for each serving.

I had these at Richard Childress' Winery down in Welcome, NC and YUM! Made with peach, berry or any kind you like. Nom, nom. And you can use simple fruit juice instead if you want the less high test version.
And now for that excerpt! Here's the blurb for When You're With Me...

A topless dancer plus a cynical cop doesn’t equal a lifetime love...or does it?
There’s more to Jude Nelson than just a sequined thong. She has big dreams of becoming an artist. There’s one tiny wrinkle in her plan-she’ll never forget the bloody image of her friend’s battered body in the dumpster.
Who can a nude dancer turn to for help? Certainly not a hardened undercover cop...
Detective Drew Alwyn is on the case to find out who murdered his good friend and fellow officer. But the moment he sees Jude, he can’t look away. He has to decide which is more important-his dedication to his job or the girl who holds his bruised and battered heart.
Will these two opposites come together to solve the case or will their desire consume them?
Reader Advisory: This story contains scenes of bondage, mentions of drug use by secondary characters, silk, sequins and art supplies used in foreplay, voyeurism and a little spanking for good measure.

EXCERPT TIME!!!
Ramon cupped her face in his hands and brought her lips to his. She had to know how he needed her—wanted her. It was a quick kiss, but it seared his lips instantaneously. The combination of lipstick, mouthwash and Jude nearly knocked him out. Her tongue grazed his lips and he sucked her into his mouth—tasting…enjoying her.
Jude paused one more moment. He could tell she liked it…a lot. She touched his chest with shaking fingers. A groan erupted from her throat and she rubbed against him. Heat radiated from her pussy on to his lap.
“Woman, you’re perfect for me,” he murmured.
“I’m…just me.” Jude fumbled for words and piqued his interest. Ramon assumed she didn’t hear words like that very often. Most women pushed the envelope—Jude exhibited clumsy inexperience. Even with the sexy bra and thick makeup, he could see the little girl inside. This was a woman who had been forced to make hard decisions in order to survive. She had class.
“I want to take you home. I need to.” Ramon rubbed her ass—so smooth against his skin and just the right size for his hands. Soft, supple and perfect.
“You can’t take me home. I’m not supposed to date clients.”
He brushed his thumb over her supple bottom lip. “Ah, but you’re wrong. I’m the new bouncer.”

Any drink with Tequila goes with any book! But if I'm reading a menage story then I want a glass of Menage wine. The red goes great with a double chocolate chocolate chip cookie! Heaven!

I don't drink often due to having to take blood thinners. I have always loved Tequila though. I will have to try the juice idea for this summer to just have something cool and refreshing.

I love sweet wine so if I was drinking while reading, that would be my choice. Otherwise, I drink hot tea to get me in a warm, relaxed mode while I snuggle down with a good book.

I prefer Diet Coke above all other beverages. On the rare occasions I drink it's usually something "girly" like a frozen strawberry daiquiri or a cosmopolitan. if the book is good enough, you shouldn't be paying attention to what you're drinking ;-)

Wow, some of you are so creative! I just like me a hot coffee to get relaxed. If it's too late to drink coffee, a nice herbal tea is nice.

I had a glass of Pinot Noir last night while reading Deeper Than Midnight. I usually have a glass of wine every evening, but I never open the same bottle in a row. Always have to have something different when I open the next bottle.

I don't get the opportunity to read much so I'm not sure what I'd read but for the drink it would have to be a Strawberry Daiquiri

Depends on the genre, romance is some wine, mostly everything else is beer, lol.
