So What's So Great About True Blood?

Okay, I have a very good friend who convinced me that I needed to watch True Blood. Soooooooo...... I got a copy from the library.

And...

I like the show. It's interesting and has me snagged. I'm not big into the whole New Moon craze. I'm not an Edward or whoever the other guy is. (see? I don't even know their names.) Tara cracks me up. And the sheriff is hysterical. He's got some of the best one-liners. And Jason? Well, I know a few guys just like him and its amusing to see him deal with his...er...issues.

But I don't totally get the whole Eric thing. I mean, so far most everyone I talked to seems to think that Eric is just the unliving end. Bad boys rule.

Um...

I'm more in the Sam camp. I have no idea what he is yet (because I haven't seen ALL the episodes yet). I mean, I'm not super big into shape shifters although I rather like vampires (Can't you tell?). But Sam intrigues me and I want to keep watching because even though I assume he won't end up with the heroine... I still want to see him have his HEA.

So for now, I'm going back to watching the rest of Season One. So far, I can't stop.

I don't watch much TV. On purpose. I've been invested in a series before where they end up going completely off the rails to keep viewers or they just don't get picked up for subsequent seasons. You can kind of tell when a show ends up going longer than perhaps the writers intended because they seem like they haven't a clue on how the story should progress. I lose interest very quickly. Renting and watching a season like that is a good way to do it though! I like paranormal stories as well, but never got into the whole Twilight phase either. And True Blood? I think I saw a preview once, but I've never seen it. Again, the whole cold feel thing...

I love True Blood (and the books as well) and I confess, I love me some Eric. With that said, I love me some Sam as well. Both are amazing characters.

Still, my favorite character is and always will be Richard from the Anita Blake series. LKH can try to make him into the sacrificial dick, doesn't matter. He rocks my socks.

I gotta tell ya, having the whole season at my fingertips is great because there are no commercials and no waiting.

But I agree with you on the whole watching TV thing, even tho I have a couple shows I love. First, they either get rid of (by making him/her a charicature)or kill off the character I like. It's like a freaking carousel. Second, the really great show gets tanked because they don't get picked up for the next season (i.e. Kidnapped - although there I gotta say that once the kid was returned, there wasn't much you could do with it). Third, as you say, the writers get bored, tired, whatever and let the show slide... like all of the sudden giving someone psychic powers or something else off the wall.

But yes, I like the show and am addicted to CSI:Miami and NY and Law and Order and trust me, when L&O finally goes off, I'll be saddened.

Hey Jaime!

Um, never read the Anita Blake series... well, not enough time in the day. And LKH really doesn't hold my attention. Sounds terrible, doesn't it?

Okay, and I gotta admit, seeing Sam running nekkid through the woods was funny, but Bill's hair drives me barmy. Seriously. It looks like a wig. Maybe it's supposed to look period-ish, but then put him in period clothes, not just a goofy haircut.

But I think my favorite demon, vampire, lycan critters are the ones by Kresley Cole. She draws me in and I can't wait to start the one about Gareth. Whoa, momma!

I'm not a big TV watcher, either, although there are a few shows that I do enjoy, such as Grey's Anatomy and American Idol (although I can't say I feel the talent is there this season). I'm not into the whole vampire thing at all--just can't see what the hype is all about, personally. When I was growing up, vampires were considered bad and evil and were found in horror flicks. I suppose that may be the reason I can't get into them now. However, I do like to watch a series at home, too--you don't get all the commercials and you can stop and start when you want. Hope you continue to enjoy, Wendi!
