Flaming Dr. Pepper, New Release Blitz and Virginia Nelson

x
I've invited my dear friend Virginia Nelson here for what we are sort of calling Release Week Blitz. Why RWB? Funny you should ask. Virg, Megan, and I both have releases this week and well, the last part of last week. You read my Monday Moan yesterday, read on for Virg's Flaming Dr Pepper post, then get copies of the books. You know you want to. Plus, if you get the books and read them, then comment on the Read an Ebook Post, you're entered to win a book from my back list. And now, Virginia.

Although the emergency blog hop may be a new invention, no one could have handled it better than you, so I want to start off by thanking Wendi for having me at the blog, today.

Lips of Velvet, my newest release, is a story about trying new things and exploring boundaries. One of the ways that theme is explored is with the flaming Dr. Pepper.

If you have never enjoyed a flaming Dr. Pepper, allow me to tell you a-a-all about it. First off, you pour a shot of 151 proof rum. Basically, if you have never experienced 151, it is rocket fuel in a pretty glass bottle. Drinking it is like pouring liquid fire down your throat. Which makes sense really…it’s really flammable.

And for the flaming Dr. Pepper, you do just that. You ignite the shot.

Then you drop it in a glass of beer.

Quickly, before the shot has a chance to cool or the beer to get too warm, you chug it.

It tastes strangely like Dr. Pepper. (Which, in my younger days, had me really wondering what was in Dr. Pepper.)

The point of all this? Well, my main character in Lips is a bit of a bookworm, far more comfortable with her laptop and her yoga pants than a bar. When her sister invites her out for the night, she goes. She feels really stupid, but she goes.

Enter sexy, sassy and confident Lucy. And we meet her when she offers Sandra the last thing she would ever expect.

A flaming drink.

Ready to step outside your boundaries with me?

Here's the blurb!

Bookworm Sandra is dragged out for a night on the town by her sister. When she meets the sexy and exotic Lucy, she is instantly attracted to her. But will their spontaneous combustion burn out as quickly as it ignites or will it lead to a long term flame?

Lucy can’t help but be drawn in by Sandra’s intelligent and fun nature. But when Sandra suggests that she was just using Lucy for sex, Lucy is a strong enough woman to hide her broken heart and walk away. A chance meeting brings them back together. Will Lucy seek revenge for a moment of stupidity?

Virginia Nelson spends her days chasing three very active kids around. When she is not doing this, or plotting taking over the world, she likes to write, play in the mud, drive far too fast and scream at inanimate objects. She can often be found listening to music that is far too loud and typing her next fantastic tale of blood, sex and random acts of ineptitude. Romance, in Ms. Nelson’s opinion, is not about riding off into the sunset on the back of a horse with the knight in shining armor— it is about riding the dragon. If the knight can keep up… well, that is love.

Flaming Dr. Pepper? How have I never heard of this? I love rum. Beer, not so much, but still! Great post, Virg! Any book featuring a sexy bookworm is one where you can't go wrong.

Thoroughly entertaining post! Of course, Virg does have a way of placing the readers wherever her mind wants to take them. As if you are really there. I even seen her making that drink! Quite a gift. Writing style - amazing.
