Lori Toland's Long Con

Lori Toland is here today with her book, The Long Con. This looks like a fantastic read and I can't wait to get my copy. I also can't wait to comment. Why? Lori will be awarding a $25 Amazon GC to one randomly drawn commenter. Sounds like a good reason to me. Here's the link for the rest of the tour. You know you want to follow it.

So I asked her, why write about cons and prostitutes?

You may have seen on TV several series involving con men (Hustle, Leverage, White Collar, etc) and the title of the book is named after a kind of confidence trick called the long con. A long con is a very elaborate scheme that takes a lot of planning but has a very large payout. A short con is a confidence trick that con men play to get a small amount of money quickly.

Con men are very devious and slippery and originally Agent Bradley was supposed to fall for one of the con men, but then Bradley and Tony met and the story derailed to the point where I couldn't get it back on track. It was sorta like a blind double date and your best friend falls in love with your date and vice versa.

However, I loved from the first moment of how the very stuffy Agent Nathaniel Bradley was mistaken for being a hustler. Nothing about Bradley, other than maybe his exceptional good looks, says prostitute. Getting sucked into this con wasn't part of the plan. Originally Bradley planned to track down the egg and alert the local authorities to the existence of the egg inside the US. He didn't count on Amanda, the sole woman in the team of con artists. She saw the perfect opportunity for an in to Tony Terranova, a quietly gay Mafia man and the target of their con.

Stuck in the middle of this hot mess, Bradley finds his dark, forbidden tastes mix well with Tony's. With every passing moment, he falls deeper under Tony's seductive spell until neither can see the light of day… and Bradley's not sure he ever wants to be let go.

Thanks Wendi for having me by! Grin. I hope you enjoy The Long Con.

Here's the blurb, because if you're like me, you want to know more!

British Agent Nathaniel Bradley is tasked with bringing home a stolen heirloom. After tracking the Faberge egg all the way to a group of criminals in New York, Bradley infiltrates a ring of con artists and gets sucked into the role of a high priced prostitute.

While hoping for a chance to take back what is rightfully his, Bradley’s sole mission becomes to seduce Tony Terranova, Jr, the heir to a notorious mafia dynasty. Though Tony is strikingly handsome, the usually dominant Bradley is hesitant to submit to the sexual whims of a dangerous Mafioso.

What Bradley doesn't expect is for Tony to fall to his knees so eagerly for him, leaving him blindsided by how intensely their dark tastes complement each other. Now Bradley is caught up in a deadly game of lies and desire, where what he truly wants may not be what duty requires.

I love that he gets mistaken for a hustler! I would take it as a compliment but I don't think he would!
